Bosses in Nightreign are powerful enemies that bring intense challenges throughout the game. These encounters can show up both out in the overworld and within more traditional points of interest. Some bosses are required to progress through the game, while many others are entirely optional. Every boss comes with its own unique set of attacks and gear, along with specific weaknesses and resistances to different damage types and playstyles. While some of the underlying mechanics carry over from Elden Ring, the bosses in Nightreign are deadlier overall, since they bring extra moves and new tactics into combat. On top of the challenge, players still walk away with unique rewards once a boss is successfully defeated. This page covers all the known bosses currently found in Elden Ring Nightreign.

s darkness falls over Limveld, the Night's Tide begins creeping across the field, shrinking the space players have to move around in. Once night fully sets in, the group is pushed toward a confrontation that can't be avoided. A brutal battle follows as a number of powerful enemies converge on the player. Allies may end up falling to these enemies' devastating attacks, but that doesn't mean the fight is over. Critically injured allies can be brought back into the fight by attacking them with Skills and Weapons. They can also be rescued from a distance using tools such as bows or magic. These battles are demanding, but the message is clear: don't give up. Players are meant to draw on everything they've gathered throughout Limveld in order to survive and come out on top.

Types of Bosses in Elden Ring Nightreign

  • Nightlords serve as the primary bosses of Elden Ring Nightreign. Before matchmaking begins, players can select a targeted Nightlord at the Roundtable Hold. After the Night Boss is defeated on Day 2, players are teleported to a realm called the "Spirit Shelter," where they can purchase items to prepare for the Nightlord waiting behind a large stone door. In total, there are 8 Nightlords in Elden Ring Nightreign.
  • Night Bosses show up at the end of every day, and which one appears depends on the specific day and expedition. As the Ring of Blue Flames closes in, the area available for exploration gradually shrinks. Once the Ring reaches its appropriate size, the Night Boss is summoned. These bosses are non-optional and must be defeated to progress onto the next day.
  • Evergaol Bosses are found inside Evergaols, which can only be opened using Stonesword Keys. The later in the run a gaol is opened, the more powerful its boss tends to be.
  • Field Bosses appear in open areas scattered across Limveld. While the same locations will always contain a boss across every expedition, the specific boss that shows up there can vary. The most dangerous Field Bosses are marked on the map with a formidable enemy icon right at the start of Day 2.
  • Location Bosses can be found within points of interest that are marked on the map, like Ruins and Tunnels.
  • Remembrance Bosses are exclusive bosses that are only encountered when players relive a Nightfarer's Remembrance Quest. These bosses require players to progress a Nightfarer's quest to fight them. Some are fought in the Roundtable Hold and some in Limveld. Defeating Remembrance Bosses also rewards players with unique Key Items that are mainly used for progressing remembrance quests.
  • Shifting Earth Bosses always appear when particular Shifting Earth maps are active, in or around the part of the map changed by the Shifting Earth. They're more likely to drop rewards that match the affinity of the current Shifting Earth.
  • Event Bosses pop up randomly during expeditions, usually without any warning beforehand. They offer powerful, unique rewards to players who manage to defeat them, but failing the challenge can come with a curse instead.

The bosses found in Nightreign draw from a range of other FromSoftware titles, including Dark Souls, Dark Souls II, Dark Souls III, and Elden Ring. One notable difference from those other games is that dying during a boss fight in Nightreign doesn't reset your progress right away. Instead, a teammate can revive you so the fight can continue. It's only when every member of the party has been downed that the whole group gets teleported to a Respawn area.

How to Unlock New Bosses in Elden Ring Nightreign

Players must meet the following conditions to unlock the new bosses in Nightreign's Forsaken Hollows:

unlock bosses dlc elden ring nightreign wiki guide 400px

Once both of these conditions are met, players should head back to the chapel that opens up behind the Small Jar Bazaar at the Roundtable Hold. It's also worth noting that in post-release patches, the Shifting Earth, Raid Events, and bases introduced through the Forsaken Hollows DLC will begin appearing in Deep of Night, even during expeditions run in the base game.

NOTE: One thing to keep in mind: for this DLC-exclusive content to actually show up in Deep of Night, you'll need to be matched with three players who all own the DLC.

Night Bosses in ER Nightreign

The Nightlords stand as the ultimate threat, waiting for players on the third day in limbo. The Nightfarers are the only warriors left who have a chance at stopping them and saving the land from total destruction.

Taking on a Nightlord is a different kind of challenge altogether, since these beings boast overwhelming attack power and toughness that surpasses anything players will have faced up to that point. Even so, there are ways to push back against this threat.

By carefully making their way through limbo, picking up more powerful tools and weapons with attributes that work well against each specific Nightlord, uncovering relics along the way, and growing sharper as a fighter through experience and observation, players can put victory against the Nightlord within reach.

The negation numbers are the % of your damage that gets blocked. For example, if a negation is 60, 40% of that damage by that type will go through and 60% will be negated. Bigger number = less damage. A negation of 100 means no damage goes through, and a negation of -100 mean the enemy takes 2x damage from that source. 0 means damage goes pretty much as is.

The resistance numbers are the buildup amount to trigger it. For example, if a resistance is 100 you must deal 100 points of the given buildup to trigger it. Note that these go down over time, and increase each time the effect procs. The values after the "/"s indicate the increased resistances after each successive proc.

Does enemy stance scale with how many players are in the run? In solo one wylder ult is a guaranteed stance break on nearly every boss, even after a critical hit where their stance has reset, meanwhile you'll just get a heavy stagger in trios

      • Anonymous

Structure wise, this gotta be like the worst form of rogue-like boss design I've ever seen in my life, the gameplay HARD carries this horrible gameplay structure so much you wouldn't believe.

Is it valid to say the nightreign community peaked last summer when everdarks were dropping weekly? That's how it felt for me both on the game and online.

          • Anonymous

The only thing that needs to make this game alive again is to add Godfrey (including Hoarah Loux's phase), he would become THE run ender. If you have done NG+7 Coop with 3 players against him in ER, you can imagine how insane would be to revive someone in Nightreign against him lol

            • Anonymous

Has anyone else ever had enemies and bosses run into the rain during night 1 or 2 after spawning? Potential bug?

              • Anonymous

someone said that Nightreign will never have Epic boss (like Radagon , Maliketh , Messmer) because Miyasaki not allows to do, with the reason that it's against the lore. any proof ???

                • Anonymous

"Balancers spawn rate is so high in DoN!!"

Yeah, if only fantastic depth 5 players weren't cowards who dodge them 90% of the time it would actually matter. At this point you have to play solo or premade, or you are not going to fight them at all outside of regular mode.

                  • Anonymous

Who thought putting a souls-like boss at the end of a 40 minute rogue-like runback was a smart idea? What?

                    • Anonymous

Why are 3/4 of the dlc's night 1 bosses gank fights? They gave mohg too much health, the dancing lion is just annoying, and the demon prince is bad cause randoms might kill the demon from below first. At least artorias is still a fun boss besides ignoring i-frames on the somersault slam which is bs no matter what you say. We couldn't get midra, bayle without the flying attacks, or rellana? Messmer is the perfect boss for nightreign and he even still gets representation through his messmer soldiers and fire knights, but the only other remembrance bosses in the game are morgott (valid) and GODRICK, LITERAL FODDER

                      • I understand it would increase wait times and such, but when will we be able to just select the ED boss we want? What if you just couldn't que with randoms for the ones not in rotation? Or maybe, at least, the rotations could be daily? there has to be a way to implement such an idea.

                        • Anonymous

Shy not just put all bosses in here? Like we need more day 1 and day 2 bosses so it's not repetitive. Just add every ds1-3 + ER boss in the game. U just drag and drop the files it cant take that much effort to reuse bosses

                          • Anonymous

Smelter Demon, Demon Princes, Lord of Blood, Artorias. Haven't seen any mention of these in the bosses categories, maybe missed it but if not, you are not aware.

Demon prince duo will be a night 2 boss from the undertaker reveal trailer, also death knights from sote will be a field boss

In that boss spawn chart, everybody knows that the spawn chance on normal goat is 0% and the spawn chance on Everdark goat is 100%. Big Fextra is lying to you.

i love how the majority of these braindead players literally just regurgitate their youtube/ign copy-pasted "opinions", they insist to spread the same retarded opinion and parrot like a clown the same sentence of their youtuber like the only truth. Absolute bandwagon clowns. This so called "popular opinions" are nothing but a bunch of redditors copypasting youtube opinions and the worst: spreading insane amounts of MISINFORMATION about the bosses they/youtube don't like (for example, in the standard version of Maris, idiots will say the boss is flying around and it is impossible for melee player, ignoring completely the jellyfish/tentacles gimmick who make the fight easier and fair, but no, your youtuber saying "ThE bOsS iS bAd AnD uNfAiR" without ANY proof is the only one who is right i guess).

Commenter below me is absolutely correct btw.

Comments under bosses page on different wikis in a nutshell

Dark Souls 3: "I love simplicity! Fighting easy bosses feels so refreshing after hell that was Elden Ring, this is peak of balance and fairness!"

Elden Ring: *endless complaining about various things that make boss fights challenging*

Nightreign: "I thought bosses were supposed to be hard?" or "this fight is not hard, just bs, fromslop or something"

What the hell was the criteria for choosing which versions of the bosses to use? For Red Wolf they picked the version without the sword attacks, meaning that the only thing it can do in this game is jump around and shoot projectiles so no wonder it's one of the most stally bosses in this game, while for dragons they actually had the chance to pick the flightless variant which would have fixed the issue where it keeps flying to the other side of the map whenever it feels like it and spazzes out on cliffs before disappearing when you finally get close, did they decide to pick the most annoying versions of these bosses on purpose or are they genuinely that stupid?

Consort Radahn as night 2 DLC boss, but with no Miquella shi and proper gravity magic themed phase 2 would be fire ngl

I haven't played Dark Souls 1 but surely there were better bosses to pick from in that game than Centipede Demon and Gaping Dragon? They seemed cool at first but everyone quickly figured out that all you have to do is get behind them and hit them in the ass for five minutes, they're by far the most boring night bosses in this entire game, which is a shame considering that the other four Dark Souls night bosses are among my favourites

why are we fighting all the mid bosses when elden ring got peak sht like radahn messmer midra malenia. gaius fortissax. i dont even gaf put in promised consort radahn AND buff him. like morgott idgaf

I'm still kind of disappointed with these boss choices, is it just me?

Be honest... nobody wants to fight the same reused bosses from the normal Elden Ring.

                                                Looking at you,

Enhanced Heolster will rip the sky open to rain death blight down as well as cause death blight buildup on his attacks. I will accept nothing less, since we got the pure gimmick fight of Enhanced Maris and the NPC Invader fight in Enhanced Libra. The full Fromsoft boss checklist is almost complete.

It's kind of weird how weak field boss rewards have a WAY better passive ability pool than strong field boss rewards, like just look at them, weak field boss passives are all useful generic boosts like raising your health, damage, stamina, FP, rune gain etc, while strong field boss passives are super specific abilities like increasing the duration of the rare buffing spells, adding an anti-dragon effect to your weapon after using a dragon communion spell or turning your flask into a gradual recovery, there's some guaranteed to be useful stuff in there like more dodge i-frames and a wending grace but most of them are very likely to just be completely useless to your run compared to the "weak" rewards

Realistically no Nightlord boss is deserving of an S tier. Heolstor is an A tier at best, and that's being quite generous. All of them can be boiled down to "random bullshit go" simulators carried by pretty visuals and cool OSTs but lack any real substance in their movesets and etc.

                                                            Yeah.

The bosses are too easy I guess it's justifiable because the runback is 45 minutes but the only hard boss is everdark adel and all he has is just AOE spam nonsense I miss the real challenges like Artorias and Malenia

Something cool i found out while fighting Gnoster! As soon as you defeat the nightlord, you become immune to lethal damage and cannot die. I found this out because i had 1 HP and was poisoned (was soloing with recluse so no invincibility)

                                                                • Anonymous

Heolstor is genuinely one of the best bosses fromsoft have made yet, right between Isshin (number one) and Gael for me. From lore (of Night itself specifically) to gameplay and spectacle, it's all amazing. There was no other boss before that was hyped as much through the game and felt like an actual world ending threat.

                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                              • Anonymous

All of the bosses from the dark souls trilogies feel like such a fat pushover and downgraded wasted opportunity :/

fix your backwards logic! + is POSITIVE resistance aka strong against that damage type while - is negative which implies WEAK to that damage type.
