The negation numbers are the % of your damage that gets blocked. For example, if a negation is 60, 40% of that damage by that type will go through and 60% will be negated. Bigger number = less damage. A negation of 100 means no damage goes through, and a negation of -100 mean the enemy takes 2x damage from that source. 0 means damage goes pretty much as is.

Poison: Immune
Scarlet Rot: 252 / 542 / 999
Blood Loss: Immune
Frostbite: 252 / 542 / 999
The resistance numbers are the buildup amount to trigger it. For example, if a resistance is 100 you must deal 100 points of the given buildup to trigger it. Note that these go down over time, and increase each time the effect procs. The values after the "/"s indicate the increased resistances after each successive proc.
Elden Ring Nightreign Maris Fathom of Night Boss Guide
Augur Boss Fight Strategy
Maris, Fathom of Night (Augur) is a squid-like boss that floats gently through the air, although it can hover near the ground occasionally, allowing melee-based Nightfarers to attack it momentarily. Maris's abilities and attacks revolve around water and wind elements, creating sweeping waves, gusts of wind, and aquatic summons such as explosive jellyfish.
This boss can also hypnotize players in a wide area, which can be devastating if it is fully channeled. Maris is highly vulnerable to Lightning Damage, so players should plan their builds accordingly before starting their run.
Throughout the fight, Maris will summon hazardous creatures around the battlefield, which are recommended to be attacked by the players. For example, the jellyfish-like bombs will slowly drift toward players, exploding on contact or after a short delay. These can be avoided, as players can outrun the slow movement of these creatures. However, players can also use ranged attacks on them when they are close to Maris, as they will deal damage to the boss when they explode.
Maris can also summon tentacles coming out of the ground, which will lash out at players around it. Players can walk away from these creatures, but it will be better if these tentacles are attacked, as they only take a few hits to be disposed of.
The attack that players have to be cautious of when fighting Maris is its Hypnosis attack, wherein it will have a distinct audio cue before flying and curling into a ball in the ground. It will then channel a spell that builds up the Sleep Status Effect on players.
When players are fully afflicted with Sleep, players will be dealt damage over time that will usually put them in a near-death state if a party member survives the attack. To counter this attack, players must charge towards Maris after hearing the audio cue for the attack, then attack it until it stops channeling the spell. Using attacks or Incantations that deal Lightning damage will be more effective, as it will stop the spell much faster.
Maris uses a range of elemental abilities, such as summoning waves of water, launching gusts of wind, or violently whipping its body to create a damaging shockwave. It can also cause water to appear from beneath the ground, damaging players caught in its vicinity.
These attacks will often leave Maris exposed, as it will either be idle or take a long time to recover, giving players a substantial amount of time to counterattack. Dodging effectively and staying mobile will create opportunities for players to attack.
Once Maris drops to around 50% health, it will become more aggressive. It will begin flying higher and launching more attacks, such as summoning additional jellyfish creatures, and unleashing large, luminous droplets of water that explode once it reaches the ground.
Players should avoid these droplets by sprinting away to escape the blast radius. Although the second phase is more chaotic, most of Maris's attacks will still be telegraphed, allowing players to retaliate or dodge in time.
Attacks & Counters
| Attack | Description | Counter |
| Phase 1 | ||
|---|---|---|
| Swarm of Bombs | Maris soars in the sky, generating a swarm of jellyfish-like creatures that follow players and explode. | Players can use ranged attacks to make the creatures prematurely explode. The explosion will also damage Maris, so players are advised to attack them when the creatures are near the boss. |
| Rolling Water | Maris brings its tentacles down, then throws a wave of water in front of it, damaging players caught in the wave's path. | Players can strafe or dodge roll sideways to get out of the wave's path. Players can also dodge roll forward to avoid the wave while moving in on Maris. |
| Water Rush | Maris quickly charges forward while spinning, damaging players in its path and within proximity. | Players can dodge roll towards Maris once it is close to them to avoid the charge and the force it generates around it. |
| Hypnosis | Maris soars in the sky, then curls its body into a ball and channels a spell that builds up Sleep on nearby players. | Once Maris curls into a ball, players should start attacking it to stop the Sleep build-up and its lingering damage. |
| Tentacle Summons | Maris lets out a non-damaging blast, summoning tentacles on the ground, attacking players nearby. | Players can attack the tentacles a couple of times to kill them, preventing them from overwhelming the battlefield. |
| Cyclone | Maris spins its body toward the ground, creating a gust of wind that damages players in its vicinity. | Players can move away from Maris to be out of the wind's reach. |
| Phase 2 | ||
| Swarm Barrage | Maris soars in the sky, this time, summoning more exploding jellyfish around the battlefield. | Players can use the same tactics in Phase 1, using ranged attacks on the jellyfish when they are near Maris. |
| Teardrop Explosion | Maris soars in the sky, then drops large, luminous droplets that explode once they reach the ground. Players hit by the explosion will be affected by Sleep build-up. | Players can use ranged attacks on the large droplets to destroy them prematurely before exploding. If players do not have ranged options or Incantations, they should run away from it to avoid the blast radius. |

Elden Ring Nightreign Fulghor Maris Fathom of Night Everdark Sovereign (Augur) Boss Guide
Maris Fathom of Night Everdark Sovereign (Augur) Fight Strategy
The Everdark Sovereign variant of Maris will have significant changes compared to the regular encounter (see Maris Fathom of Night), increasing the difficulty of the boss.
Similar to the Everdark Sovereign variants of other bosses, such as Fulghor, the fight with Maris is expected to start during the second phase of the fight, wherein Augur will launch more aggressive attacks. Additionally, Everdark Sovereign Maris will be summoning more jellyfish in the arena, making it difficult for players to navigate around as they chase the flying Augur around the battlefield.
Everdark Sovereign Maris will still have the same weakness as its regular variant, which is
Lightning. Players are recommended to plan routes that will yield Lightning weapons, which will be of significant help for staggering Everdark Sovereign Maris whenever it starts channeling the Hypnosis attack.
After completing the 1st phase of the fight, Maris Fathom of the Night will drop a legendary Storm Ruler. From Software veterans will recognize this as a long line of flying bosses that have appeared in games such as Demon's Souls. Here are some tips and important mechanics Storm Ruler:
- Each player gets one - and you should use it. The Storm Ruler skill from the weapon is key to this fight.
- When you hold the skill, not attacking, just in the stance - YOU REGAIN FP. This is crucial since many players are reporting that they run out of FP during the fight, or believe that they have to play heavy-FP Classes like Recluse or Revenant
- On the other hand, when you hold the skill without attacking for several seconds, you charge up a much stronger and larger attack. It creates a MASSIVE vertical attack.
DON'T spam the weapon art immediately, it will drain your FP in a few seconds.
The first phase against Augur is pretty straightforward and does not pose much of a challenge. It can be defeated quite easily if you know what you are doing. This first phase ends once players have depleted Maris Fathom of the Night first health bar. As it dies, it will leave a legendary weapon that, as previously mentioned, is VERY IMPORTANT for this fight. Note that all players will be able to loot this legendary weapon.
After a few short seconds, Maris, Fathom of the Night will emerge from the skies and enter the battlefield. In a way, it is a similar fight that the Elden Beast in base Elden Ring. Maris will fly across the sky and meteors will shoot from its body to the ground.
You will have to strike a balance in order to fight it using the legendary weapon, while also dodging the projectiles since attacking leaves you stuck to the ground for a few seconds. (specially if you fully charge the attack). Try to be on the move while you are not attacking in order to dodge incoming attacks.
As you remove almost half its health, Maris will enter its third phase, becoming an even bigger being, and meteors will float around its "Head" during the rest of the fight. During this phase it will also become more nimble, and agile, reaching higher speeds than in the previous ones.
Try to shoot the collar of meteors floating around it. You can lock onto each of them and use the legendary weapon art to destroy them. This meteor collar, allows Maris to shoot multiple targets at the same time, so dealing damage to them as fast as possible should be priority.
Once all of them are destroyed, Maris will fall down to the ground, stunned. Land as many hits as possible during this time.
Try to focus on the meteors ASAP to avoid multiple attacks. and repeat this process until Maris Fathom of Night is down. This fight is about endurance and can become quite long given the boss flying around the whole battlefield.
Maris Fathom of Night Everdark Sovereign (Augur) Attacks & Counters
| Attack | Description | Counter |
| Phase 1 | ||
|---|---|---|
| - | - | - |
| Phase 2 | ||
| Tsunami | Maris brings its tentacles down slowly, then throwing a huge, slow moving wave of water in front of it, damaging players that pass through it. | Players should be able to fully avoid this attack by simply running to the side of the wave, as it only moves in one direction once its created. |
| Great Hypnosis | Maris flies off and curls up in the air, causing Sleep buildup just like its normal variant, but the huildup is much faster. | Players should attack with Storm Ruler to try and stop Maris from continuing its spell any further. |
| Water Rush | Maris charges forward while spinning, damaging players caught in its path. | The timing for this attack can be tricky, as Maris's colossal size combined with its fast acceleration, can throw players off. Try to roll just as Maris approaches. |
| Bubble Bombardment | Maris flies into the sky and shoots several bubbles around players that explode shortly after landing, building up leep. | Watch the path of the bubbles carefully to avoid being hit directly, and make sure to stay a moderate distance away from them after they land to avoid the explosion. |
| Explosion Laser | Maris charges a laser beam and sweeps it across the ground toward a player, causing massive explosions across the ground it has passed on. | Although the laser and explosions occur rather quickly, they can be rolled through with proper timing. The explosions, however, travel very fast, so players should dodge as soon as they see them. |
| Homing Lasers | Maris' bubbles briefly charge laser beams aimed at all players. This attack is often used in combination with its Ignition Laser. | There is an audio cue that lets players know the lasers are about to be fired. Though they can be seen traveling toward players, their speed is not to be underestimated, so be prepared to dodge as soon as they can be seen. |

AnonymousMaris seems to be inspired by Siphonophores, a deep water collony of zooids.

AnonymousThe name Maris is probably related to the Spanish word 'mar', the Latin word 'mare' (pronounced mar-eh), and other words with the same origin, meaning sea or ocean. It may also be specifically based off an old title referring to the Virgin Mary, 'Stella Maris', meaning Star of the Sea.

AnonymousI lucked out, got 3 Ironeye's in the expedition. My started weapon had a frost relic.
Got Godrick the first night, simple enough.
Opened Old Gaol, defeated Ancient Dragon Lansseax. Acquired Dragon King Cragblade.
Went to the Mountain top shifting earth, picked up Rivers of Blood. Ran past ice dragon.
Second night was Godskin Duo.
For the boss we focused on killing the jellyfish as soon as they appeared, cycling through our Ult's when he started snoozing, with me hitting him with the Cragblade to interrupt the Sleep buildup.
Finished his last chunk of health with Rivers of Blood.
Just wanted to share, that was a fun expedition.
AnonymousI don't try to dodge roll that stationary cyclone spinning move. I just block. I believe it's a physical attack, and it's single hit so it's completely survive-able. Just stop attacking and hold dodge as soon as you see him winding up in place. Less risky than rolling since it hits really hard in DoN.

Anonymousthe ground-slam attack has one of the most confusing and misleading timings of any attack in the game. it's slightly delayed after she hits the ground, but the delay changes based on how close you are, but only by a very tiny amount. so if you're far away and you delay too long, you get hit, and if you're too close and time the dodge with her hitting the ground, you get caught after your roll and hit.

AnonymousFun fact: Maris makes a ambient sound akin to the sound of the recordings of actual stars. But due to the combat sound effects and music, you typically can't hear it.

Anonymous
AnonymousVibe boss. It's all about the atmosphere once you know how to play the two schticks of it (attacking Maris to prevent sleep buildup and running away from the droplets from the sky). After that, its a trivial fight.

AnonymousI actually enjoy this bossfight. The fight itself and the BGM make it seem like you're somewhat fighting between RL and your consciousness, as if you were on some sort of dream. Very fitting for a boss that afflicts Sleep.

Anonymous
AnonymousEasy boss blah blah blah. But how tf do you dodge that AOE where he just drills straight down?

AnonymousI wonder if the Lion’s Bow counts as a gravity weapon and does extra damage to Maris. I know radahns spears do gravity damage in the base game, but I wonder if they tweaked this

AnonymousFiught the everdark today, had no clue what I was supposed to do. Found out about storm ruler while it was floating in and out of reach. It literally didn't do anything in the wiki, and its sleep is way less dangerous. Boring AF the normal version is way harder

Anonymouson depth level 4+ this thing makes me want to gouge my eyes out. the only boss where people actively quit the selection screen

Anonymous
AnonymousThe everdark fight would be ten times better if it WASN'T in a roguelike lmao

Anonymous
AnonymousOf course the hidden nightlord will always be the everdark version of this guy or the goat

AnonymousWoah, both the worst everdark bosses in the same week. What a time to be alive.

AnonymousThe fix for the Everdark version made the fight even easier, but also quicker. Both are not so relevant whenever the fight is not fun.

AnonymousThe reward you get for the raid (fp flasks) has been bugged for like a month and I can't believe nobody is talking about it.

AnonymousFighting this bubble while listening to Elden Beast / Shaman Village OST is peak!

AnonymousMan, this again... I pass, I think i'll start playing Fortnite, see whats that all about. Seems more entertaining.

AnonymousThis everdark Boss is literally better than Everdark Libra, but the badwagon clowns who can't have their own opinions, and copypaste popular opinions, will defend Libra's NPC non-creative stupid Gank, because It is "LiBrA tHe GoAt, He Is MaDnEsS tHeMeD"
That said, standard Libra is better than both
Anonymous
Anonymous"This boss tosses your entire build into the bin!1!1 Just start the expedition right at day 3 at this point!!" no it doesn't, everything else except your weapon still matters. Your relics and all passives/perks that you collect during the expedition are still there, oh and guess what? You have to use weapons to make it to day 3 with level 15. Gathering skill/magic boosting perks, or attack boost at full HP and such makes the boss a lot easier too.

AnonymousPLEASE FROMSOFT I CANNOT TAKE IT ANYMORE PLEASE MAKE GOOD BOSSES AGAIN PLEASE I'M BEGGING YOU

Anonymous
AnonymousUnfortunaly, having all the characters using the same skill but with different weapons feels a bit lazy. I know they probably did it for balance and fairness purposes, but it still doesnt feel like a good experience. Most of the nostalgia enjoyers liked having Stormruler, thus liked the fight, nothing unexpected.
The reason people disliked it is not because it is a gimmick and they can't apply the OP metas (they actually still can), but because it an unfun gimmick that goes against the game's core design and the meaning of having unique Nightfarers.
Being a gimmick isnt the problem, the problem is being an unfun and bad gimmick.
Anonymous
Anonymoushonestly cool fight, forcing the storm ruler is whatever, but invalidating almost every character's skill and ultimate ability is what makes this fight bad.

AnonymousDude I feel so dumb for expecting each weapon to be unique in a way... and I was expecting the fight to be more engaging and fun... I guess high expectation really is the destroyer of joy

Anonymousfun fact, revenants summons can actually damage the everdark version if its close enough, my dear old Fredrick was able to smack the big jellyfish for a whopping 169 damage after i stunned it, very happy he got to contribute but if you're playing revenant you should only probably just be using Sebastian as a shield during this fight lol

Anonymous"You have to use your brain to defeat Everdark Sovereign Augur, thats why people hate it" no, you dont.
Just spam the skill.
The only difficult thing about this boss, and also the reason players lose on it, is that you have to ACCEPT the brain damaging lame gimmick and play into it.
The only 2 threats in the fight are the wave and the ground explosion after the laser, but you can just run away.
Blue orbs coming to you? Use the skill and the orbs dissipate.
Triple laser coming into you? Use the skill and it will dissipate.
Lacking FP? Use the skill and it regens.
A player is needing revive? Use the skill and they will be up in no time.
Want to damage the boss? Guess it. Use the skill.
Want to interrupt the AoE sleep? Use the skill.
And then, surprisingly, theres another aspect to the fight: run from waves/ground explosion and chase the boss!
Such a diverse fight must require a lot of brain usage right? Nope, it doesnt.
All you need is allow yourself to accept that all you gotta do is use the skill, that 90% of the possible builds are COMPLETELY useless, that most of your character kit won't matter.
Truly a great boss huh
AnonymousI want to see How people managed to die to this boss, because they are probably stuck in the Dragonrider from ds2 or stuck in Taurus Demon from Easy Souls 1, that's why they always complain like crybabies

AnonymousNo matter what the Redditors and the bandwagon-clowns without braincells to formulate their own opinions, this Boss is funnier, cooler and harder than Adel, Trash of Night
People always complain when they have to actually use their braincells to fight a Boss, instead of spamming dodge with Ducchess while hearing the BAD ost from adel (the cringe guitar sounds, that Only appear in 2 seconds of the entire ost)
AnonymousJust when I thought they would take the chance to improve this boss with the everdark...

AnonymousPlayers are coping too hard on this boss. The everdark version is terrible, by definition.
You can dislike this and close your eyes and ears, but reality is still there. This boss tosses in the trash bin the efforts in creating a build you've done during day one and two. U managed to pull an interesting build with luck? doesn't matter, you'll use Stormruler.
As a gaming experience, this is disgustingly terrible. At this rate, just start the expedition at the boss with everyone leveled.
Anonymous
Anonymousthe pain when you realise the ironeye you matched up with doesn't know they can restore their FP by charging the weapon art and start pelting the boss with arrows instead

AnonymousWylder does amazing damage with the weapon art. Triple Wylder's would eat this boss alive.

Anonymousprops to the everdark version to somehow being even lamer of a fight than the base boss

AnonymousI was optimistic. I thought the Everdark version would be fun and interesting. I was wrong. All he does is float around, laser you, and make tsunamis out of his seed. I’m sorry for thinking Everdark Maris would be a fun fight.

Anonymousstorm ruler gives essentially infinite fp.. use heal incants.

Anonymous
AnonymousHonestly, I prefer when non-ranged character could just beat the jellyfish to do damage on the boss. Everdark version is pretty lame.
Remember guys, on a game where players already have to choose a pre-set character, the last thing you want to do is force them to keep using the same attacks and playing the same way.
Anonymous
AnonymousEveryone complaining about "gimmick" is wrong. It always have been about gimmick... is just that this time, from my experience on it as Guardian, its complete garbage.

Anonymous"haha screw your perfect runs, you weapons are now useless" ahh boss.
Jokes aside the fight is pretty cool
Anonymouslove when i spend 30 minutes collecting items and weapons for a semi-unique build just for it all to be thrown due to a stupid gimmick weapon they dont wanna let die, this actually might be bottom 3 soulsborne bosses oat

AnonymousI can't believe they made it even more an absolute garbage than ever before. stormruler even at full charge doesn't do sh!t and they gave it 5 orbs that shoots laser hyperspeed and you can't even hit unless you use a fully charged storm ruler, and to make it worse, it shoots you consecutively when it does the sleep build up so you can't even interrupt it anymore! and they just reused fulghors light ground explosion attack! they're just getting lazier and lazier I swear to god with these everdark versions!

AnonymousI'm writing this the day before the new everdarks comes out. Maris has gotta pull some crazy BS to stop being a pushover for Ironeye/ranged... i melted it in almost no time w morgott's cursed sword and it's even supposed to resist fire. I can already tell it's gonna be the absolute worst for melee players tho

Anonymoushow radahns rain of lion greatbow melts this disposed condom is laughable!

Anonymouslove it when it invades and teleports me 5 km away, into full rain area. 10/10 boss

Anonymousif u pop ult as he does that sleep move you wont take any buildup

Anonymous
Anonymous
AnonymousFor any other low players struggling with the arena wide sleep pulse and not able to interrupt it, be MINDFUL. When you get afflicted with Sleep your FP will drain rapidly but your HP will only drain slightly. If you run out of FP suddenly the HP drain becomes MASSIVE and pretty much fatal. Keep some starlight shards on hand if you can't reliably interrupt the sleep pulse, you can at least make it less deadly!

AnonymousReally does feel like you’re in the ocean like the worm things are garden eels augur is like an isopod and the ball things are jellyfish probably reaching but still. Oh yeah this fight is ass if you ain’t Ironeye

Anonymous
AnonymousI found this fight annoying until I realized you Are meant to kill the enemies it spawns. OMG it changed this fight from like a 2/10 to a 5/10 for me. To say the least it is tolerable now.

Anonymousmid but still better than 90% of the bosses in ds3 and 100% of the bosses in basegame bloodborne

AnonymousLGL is a part of it but bbatts is probably talking about enabling notches, zjump, boxx etc. which buffs fox a ton, making hbox's hardest matchup even harder. Making everything OEM again (original controllers) would make marth and puff way better

AnonymousFor its everdark version, it just turns into sword saint isshin because fvck you that's why

AnonymousImo, the worst part of this fight are the little tentacles that pop out of the ground, safe to say whoever worked on this boss had a tentacle hentai addiction because these little things are EVERYWHERE and they suck to hit.

Anonymous
Anonymous
AnonymousTips for melee players: Don't.
Just get a bow. Preferably a lightning greatbow. It'll be faster than whatever whiffs per minute you're pumping out otherwise.
AnonymousFight is rather peaceful compared to the chaos of most of the other Nightlord. It's also more doable with a melee character than you'd think at first. As melee you're basically on Ad Clear duty, taking out the small jellyfish with wide reaching attacks (I love Gravitas for this) and playing whack-a-mole with the tentacle hands that slap you around will actually cause significant damage and stagger to the boss itself, frequently opening it up for a critical and also dispelling all jellyfish/tentacles until the boss spawns more. Sure, smack it when it's in reach and especially when it's pulsing sleep and needs to be interrupted with damage/lightning. However, chasing it around the arena to whiff on your melee hit every few minutes while it floats around blissfully will just make you tear your hair out and then rage quit when you get splashed to death with space-goop or get sleep-nuked from not outranging the big bombs.

AnonymousI don't think this boss is in affront to God like most people are saying. It is just incredibly boring

Anonymousive seen people try to defend this boss and say its good, and honestly i dont know why youd do that at all. its not like the game is strapped for good bosses like ds1/ds2 where even your favorite probably has some inexcusable flaws. on average the nightlords are pretty damn fun. people just gotta accept that this dudes concept isnt great, and that his only deadly attack, the sleep one, is poorly designed (fulghor almost instantly staggers from his holy rain with a little bit of lightning, and this dude takes FOREVER to stagger with lightning whenever we have a lot!). i say this as a glazer and apologist of many of this games flaws, too.

Anonymous
AnonymousJust played against this boss with a 3 melee team and yeah I'm never including it in multi-queue again.

Anonymous"The enemy may not always be that which can be seen." - what does this mean? the rest of the nightlord descriptions are hints on weaknesses but this one sounds like cut content

AnonymousThe resistances appear to be inverse to what they should be, says Higher Number = More Resistance, but says this weak to lightning boss resists 40% of lightning damage.

Anonymous

Anonymous- slow-moving boss that pretty much requires playing ironeye or recluse to hit
- running simulator feat. elevator music
- puts the entire group to sleep and then deals unavoidable damage until everyone is dead
goty right here folks
AnonymousThe sleep is a subtle reference from the developers to the fact this fight is boring as hell, bravo mike wazowski

kill jellyfish and tentacle = free damage
if she sleeps = hit her alot
if you die = quit game
This fight is honestly terrible... Even with the "Gimmicks" added to it. Good luck actually landing hits with a melee with how much this thing runs around.

Anonymous2 Ironeyes dealing lightning damage + Recluse using the character skill to also deal lightning seems to be a pretty much guaranteed win, especially any buffs to help with sleep resistance
