Limveld Changes in Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows DLC

Forsaken Hollows DLC is set to release on December 4, 2025, and it's expected to bring the biggest changes and additions since the game was launched nearly 7 months ago. Elden Ring Nightreign's developer, FromSoftware, Inc., confirmed that there will be 2 new Nightlords, 2 new playable Nightfarers, 1 Shifting Earth, and more terrain changes. More specifically, Swamps will be added to Nightreign; the teaser trailer of Forsaken Hollows did not show the specifics of what kind of swamps will be added, but there will be at least Frenzy, Poison, and Scarlet Rot types. These swamps will be integrated into the map of Limveld, and will appear in different areas. The swamps will function similar to the original game, Elden Ring, where the players' status bar will fill every second they stay in the swamp.

Aside from the Swamps, players will also find Forges, which is a new point of interest in Limveld. Forges are locations that players can explore, where they can find a small town that's protected by a boss. The forge will be a stone monument with smoke blowing from its base. When the player interacts with the forge, they can reroll the skill on any of their Weapons. This also applies to Weapons that presently do not have any skills attached to it. The forge can only be used one time by each player.

Lastly, the Shifting Earth that will greatly alter the terrain of Limveld is yet to be named, but it has been confirmed that it will be an entirely new map, but it will be integrated into the current map of Limveld. The latest Nightreign trailer shows the player flying towards a large crystal that's surrounded by translucent buildings in the distance. The official website of Elden Ring Nightreign also confirmed that this will be the newest Shifting Earth that will be added to the game, bringing the total to 5.

Limveld in Elden Ring Nightreign

Limveld was once a country that thrived under the power of gods, but it now stands on the edge of ruin, gradually being worn away by the night that has taken hold across the land. Players are deployed to Limveld as a level one character, and in that starting state, surviving against the overwhelming power of the Nightlords is far from guaranteed. Gaining strength quickly is essential, and doing so requires moving swiftly and making smart decisions along the way.

Within the limited time available before night falls, players have the freedom to choose their own route and priorities. Hunting enemies to level up is one option, as is searching for treasures, weapons, and useful items scattered throughout the land. Players can also infiltrate bases guarded by soldiers to gather information from hidden operational maps, or they can take on powerful enemies wandering the open land or lurking within heavily fortified strongholds, where the challenge is greater but the rewards match it.

Whether the group decides to stick together or split up and cover more ground separately, the right approach ultimately comes down to each character's skills, playstyle, and traits.

overview trailer 1 elden ring nightreign wiki guide400px

The layout of Limveld changes with every visit. Each new expedition brings fluctuations to bases, enemy types, chest rewards, and other features spread across the field, ensuring that no two runs feel quite the same.

Exploration can also be interrupted at any moment by unexpected events. Enemy ambushes may cut a route short, or sudden meteor strikes can catch players off guard. More dramatic shifts can occur as well, such as erupting volcanic craters filled with bubbling lava, or dark forests shrouded in corruption that slowly rots anyone who ventures into them. In a world that reshapes itself with every expedition, new choices and challenges are always around the corner. Taking stock of each situation and using every available skill to push through and survive the night is what separates those who make it from those who don't.

Other Map Information in Limveld Nightreign

Other Locations refer to the unmarked and unnamed areas on the map, but you will encounter them while on an expedition. These are locations found randomly throughout Limveld, and this section will include information on what you can do in these Locations, and the best day to explore them.

Material Effects

Find berries, flowers, butterflies, and other materials across the Lands Between. These materials offer temporary effects. Materials collected by allies have a lingering effect. Go to that location to benefit from the effect.

Breakable Statues

These are statues that have a light blue glow, which can be broken with Ultimate Art. You may also lure a strong enemy or a boss to launch themselves toward this statue. You can get an assortment of items ranging from blue to purple rarity.

Small Camps

These are locations where you are commonly dropped by the Spectral Hawk that will drop you off from the Roundtable Hold. These are locations with few enemies and are good starting to point to get your first level as soon as you land. Small camps with two large carriages will have a large chest at the back of one of them, which will usually contain a Stonesword Key.

Player Phantoms

Players will have a rare encounter with the phantoms of other players in other worlds that appear in the Lands Between. These phantoms will appear randomly, and interacting with them will replenish the Ultimate Art gauge. These phantoms also drop an assortment of equipment they had, and will be passed on to the next Nightfarer.

N.B. Phantoms are shared in online mode. Once a phantom is shared, it can be viewed in offline mode.

Shacks

Shacks are small unmarked locations where you can find regular enemies and random loot. Sometimes there's a chest that will drop random Sacred Seals.

All Shifting Earth Locations in Elden Ring Nightreign

Shifting Earth are expedition modifiers that affect the geography of Limveld, boss and enemy spawns, challenges, and a secret that poses an opportunity to gain unique rewards. The shift is caused by defeating Nightlords or the boss that appears at the end of a run on the third day. Shifting Earth modifiers will persist for some time, and the conditions will be restored to normal after conducting several expeditions or passing some time at the Roundtable Hold. You may also use the bed to pass the time.

I believe there are currently 6 different types of starting camps. These are Carriages, Shack, Crossbow range, Demi-humans, Rats and Nobles:
      - Carriages will have a stonesword key in the chest on them and will often drop perfumes like bloodboil, ironjar and uplifting from crates.
      - The Shack has a sacred seal drop in the centre, great for Recluse/Revenant and can have some decent passives/spells to hold onto.
      - Crossbows is probably the easiest to clear as all the crossbow enemies are pretty passive, there's also multiple bow racks which is good for ironeyes.
      - Nobles is basically the standard camp with chests, at least the noble enemies go down pretty easily.
      - The Demi-humans / Rats camps have similar layouts and are equally as uninteresting and the enemies can be somewhat annoying.

      • Some forts, if they're near a Spiritstream (and have a golem archer or a crystallian mini-boss), have a secret tower and a wall that you can climb on (from the boost jump only). There are some chests there that contain uncommon or rare drops. Forts are great too for quick leveling 1-3 levels (first drop on Day 1), and if you're playing as Duchess/Recluse/Revenant, you can grab a free magic staff there to trigger more drops of it later (either from bosses and chests in the center castle).

In both types of ruins there's a hidden floor, past which are two chests that can drop talismans and sometimes purple weapons. On ruins that have only one straight staircase, and are shaped like a c, the floor is past the first staircase and behind a wall. On ruins that have a straight and a left staircase, the floor is near the boss arena, past and to the right when entering from the left stairs, behind a wall.

What are the little destroyed towers with two to three boxes and a bow rack called? They’re not marked on the map and I can find no info about them, they either have regular nobles or madness guys around them. Would really love to see a page about them or at least something to call them.
