Scholar is a Nightfarer in Nightreign. Scholar is a new Nightfarer exclusive to the DLC, Forsaken Hollows. As a class, Scholar leans into support and utility, built around using consumables, buffing allies, and debuffing enemies rather than dealing damage directly. Like all Nightfarers, Scholar is a predetermined class that fulfills its own archetype within the game. Choosing a Nightfarer, or Class, is arguably the most important decision players make at the start of the game, since it shapes how they'll play and approach the rest of their run.
An academic who walks the Lands Between, and a member of the School of Hierodas who seeks knowledge through travel. He contracted a disease that causes abnormally rapid aging.
Boasts impressive arcane levels but other attributes suffer. Has the potential to gain incredible battlefield advantages through observation.

Unlocking the Scholar in Elden Ring Nightreign
To unlock the Scholar, along with the Undertaker, players first need to defeat Gladius Beast of Night (Tricephalos), also known as Tricephalos. Once that beast has been taken down, the next step is to return to the Roundtable Hold and speak with the Iron Menial, who passes along a message from the Small Jar Bazaar.
Key Features of Scholar in Elden Ring Nightreign
The Scholar is one of two new Nightfarers introduced through the Elden Ring: Nightreign expansion, and his addition fills a strategic gap that had been noticeably missing from the base roster. While most Nightfarers tend to lean toward either raw damage output or frontline durability, Scholar instead carves out a niche around battlefield control, debuffs, and team utility, making him particularly valuable when playing in a coordinated group.
Combat Style & Core Stats
terms of combat style, Scholar's primary weapon is confirmed to be Thrusting Swords, a fitting match for his precise, technical approach to fighting. These weapons naturally lend themselves to pokes, counters, and careful spacing rather than overwhelming force, which pairs well with his apparent reliance on Arcane as his highest stat.
Much like the Executor, Scholar appears to get a lot of value out of status effects, though he goes about applying them in his own way. As an example, combining his Arcane scaling with a weapon like the Antspur Rapier, which applies Scarlet Rot, could allow for efficient status infliction across several enemies at once, especially when paired with his unique skill set.
His movement also stands out as more refined compared to most other Nightfarers, featuring smooth sidesteps, backstep feints, and flowing chains of motion that let him control spacing while still keeping up the pressure on enemies.
- Weapon Preferences: Thrusting Swords
- Scholar Key Attribute is Arcane.
- S Scaling in Arcane.
- B Scaling in HP, FP, and Stamina.
- The weakest attribute is D Scaling in Strength.
- C Scaling in Dexterity, Intelligence, and Faith.
Unique Relic Effects for the Scholar:
- [Scholar] Prevents slowing of Character Skill progress
- [Scholar] Allies targeted by Character Skill gain boosted attack
- [Scholar] Earn runes for each additional specimen acquired with Character Skill
- [Scholar] Continuous damage inflicted on targets threaded by Ultimate Art
Bagcraft Passive Ability
- Store additional resources. Level up the power or effect of items by using them.
- Consumable stacks are increased.
- Consumables can be leveled up twice during a match.
- Best to start the Scholar with Relics that grant items at the start of an expedition to level up the item as quickly as possible.
- You will now see a stack count display for the damage negation reduction that appears when hitting enemies with level 3 Dart-type items with the Bagcraft ability.
How to level up items as the Scholar in Elden Ring Nightreign:
- Consumables can be leveled up twice during a match.
- Item-handling level up [2]: Improves the effectiveness.
- Item-handling level up [3]: Adds a secondary effect to the item.
- The Scholar can level up items by repeatedly using the item.
Leveling up doesn't focus on individual items but instead on the item category. For example, if a player frequently uses a throwable pot, all throwable pots will benefit from the effect.
Analyze Character Skill
Scholar's core ability revolves around battlefield awareness and debuff application. Study your enemies or assist your allies.
- Can be used on enemies to apply debuffs. It can also be used on self and allies to apply buffs.
- Best used when enemies are not targeting the Scholar. When used, Scholar becomes vulnerable since he lowers his weapon while using the skill.
- When used, a big circle will appear, and targets within the circle will be analyzed. Targeting an enemy or ally will trigger a red gauge that will start to fill.
- The longer you analyze, the more buffs or debuffs you can stack.
- The speed of analyzing an enemy will depend on the distance between you and the target. The smaller the gap, the quicker you can analyze, and the further you are, the slower the analysis is.
- Upon completing the analysis, you can press the designated button to apply the debuff on the enemy or the buff to your allies.
- Best used on multiple targets, both enemies and allies.
Debuff Effects
- Level 1 Debuff: Decreases attack.
- Level 3 Debuff: Take extra damage on the next hit received.
Buff Effects
- Level 1 Buff: Increased Stamina
- Level 3 Buff: Conjure a shield that releases a shockwave when hit.
Communion Ultimate Art
Scholar's Ultimate Art, Communion. Taboo Knowledge: Damage is shared by linked enemies and can heal threaded allies.
- An AoE effect that links all nearby enemies and allies.
- If a single targeted enemy takes damage, then all linked enemies will take 20% of the damage to the target.
- For allies, any healing effects are shared between linked team members.
- Great ultimate used against groups of enemies or multiple bosses you encounter.
- Using Communinon can also increase the survivability rate of the team.
- The Scholar becomes invulnerable to attacks while casting Communion.

Scholar Best Relics Guide for Nightreign
Recommended Relics for Scholar
Recommended Relic Effects for Scholar
- Character Skill Cooldown +3
- Ultimate Art Autocharge +3
- Increase Maximum HP
- Defeating Enemies fills more of the Art Gauge
- Improved Endurance and Dexterity, Reduced Intelligence and Arcana
- Wraith Calling Bell in possession at start of expedition
The Cleansing Tear, a red relic, is one of the Scholar's unique relics that directly utilizes his kit. It can be obtained Its first effect, which is specific to the Scholar, deals continuous damage to enemies that are affected by his Ultimate Art Communion. This can be helpful for multi-enemy bosses since damage taken by enemies linked by Communion is shared between all enemies. Its second effect increases affinity damage negation so it helps with the Scholar's survivability with his HP stat being mediocre. The last effect of this relic helps fill up his Ultimate Art gauge, which allows for the Scholar to activate Communion more often to deal with enemies and bosses faster, while also help with healing allies from flasks or consumables.
Note "My Dear Successor" is a yellow relic that is another unique relic to the Scholar. It can be obtained by completing the Scholar's remembrance questline. This relic has two Scholar-specific effects that help boost his kit, and it particularly shines when running expeditions with a group. The first effect boosts allies' attack when they are targeted by his skill Analyze, and with a short cooldown, it's recommended to always use the skill anytime it is available. Its second effect becomes much more useful in times when the Scholar is being attacked, as it prevents the gauge of Analyze from going down when its progress is interrupted. The third effect also helps with letting the Scholar use his skill more often by reducing its cooldown. This lets you apply debuffs to enemies more and keeping the damage negation on and improving survivability on you and your allies.
The Night of the Fathom is a red relic that makes great use of the Scholar's Bagcraft ability. Its first effect increases the Maximum HP which helps with the Scholar's mediocre Health stat and helps keep him on the field longer to use his items. Its second and third effect may be what makes this relic a must on the Scholar. The second effect lets the use of a flask also heal allies. The third effect states that "Items confer effect to nearby allies". With the Scholar's Bagcraft ability, the added effects from level 2 and level 3 of the upgraded items and consumables can be shared among allies. This works well with items that heal or provide buffs.
The Night of the Wise is a yellow relic that can make use of the Scholar's high Arcane. It lets the Scholar get Poison on his starting armament, which, with his high arcane, can be the status buildup on enemies will be much faster. Night of the Wise also increases Maximum FP and when Poison and Rot are in the vicinity, increases Attack Power. While going within melee for the Scholar isn't typically recommended, the buff can still be helpful in a pinch when needing to deal with enemies that come just a little too close.
The Scholar is a tactical, item-focused Nightfarer class introduced in The Forsaken Hollows. Instead of relying on conventional weapon scaling or spellcasting tradition, the Scholar revolves around Bagcraft, a unique passive that gradually enhances Consumables simply by using them. This allows the Scholar to turn otherwise ordinary tools—stones, perfumes, pots, knives, greases, food items, boluses—into some of the strongest utility and damage sources in the game.
The class uses Analyze as its defining active skill, applying progressive debuffs and generating powerful ally-wide buffs as scan levels increase. In group content, the Scholar multiplies team efficiency; in solo play, it becomes a self-sufficient sustain/debuff hybrid that dominates extended encounters.
The Scholar’s Ultimate Art further defines its identity by linking enemies and allies through spectral threads, distributing damage, healing, and revival synergy across connected targets.
This class is best played by players who enjoy strategic planning, control-centric combat, status management, and leveraging Consumables as core damage tools.
Scholar Strengths
- Access to the strongest consumables in the game thanks to Bagcraft.
- Excellent debuff, support, and burst setup capabilities.
- Analyze Level 3 provides top-tier boss punish windows.
- High sustain and resistance via levelled food and boluses.
- Versatile kit that works in both solo and co-op content.
- Ultimate Art allows shared healing, shared damage, and revival support.
Scholar Weaknesses
- Very item-dependent; weak early-game until consumables reach Level 2–3.
- Requires constant resource management and knowledge of item type.
- Limited direct melee damage without weapon support.
- Analyze can be interrupted unless you run synergy relics.
- Damage spikes rely on timing windows rather than raw output.
Ripple Blade and Ripple Crescent Halberd which both have S Arcane scaling, and are ideal weapons for the Scholar. His starting weapon, Scholar's Thrusting Sword, scales mainly with Dexterity and isn't a very useful weapon, and should be changed as soon as possible. So, until you find a better weapon, you can rely on Items and Status Effects to deal damage.
Passives on Weapons that take effect while you are walking or Dormant Powers, are incredibly effective for the Scholar, especially while are in the Analyze-stance. While you are using Items, most of the time you will be walking, especially with an item like the Wraith Calling Bell. This will allow you to trigger a lot of effects while doing things that you will already be doing just by playing the Scholar.
Relics, on the other hand, are more related to the type of gameplay and specially if you are running solo or in a group. Some abilities are useful when used with a group and don't make much of a difference when doing solo runs, while others are imperative while playing solo, but do not make a difference in groups.

The Grand Burning Scene can be purchased from the Small Jar bazaar at the Roundtable Hold for 1,000
. This relic has a fixed effect, which will provide the following:
- [Scholar] Prevents Slowing of Character Skill Progress

This specific effect slows down the rate at which the gauge slowly empties whenever his Analyze skill is paused.
Elden Ring Nightreign Scholar Notes & Tips
- Voice Actor: Alistair Petrie
- Despite sharing an S rank in ARC, Scholar has almost double that of executor's ARC, at a whopping 50.
- ARC increases a player's DPS by scaling the buildup of status effects on enemies. Bleed in particular can proc up to four times at once, while frost must wait for the debuff to wear off before the frost burst can be applied again. Plays well with bleed, poison, frost, or a combination of those status effects.
- Make sure to buy items from the Merchant as needed. For example, a caster Scholar will most likely need to purchase starlight shards.
- Including a relic to start with Wraith Calling Bell can define a whole genre of Scholar builds.
- Dormant Powers from forts and great churches have a 65% chance to contain an uncommon class weapon. Dormant powers from encampments and ruins have a 35% chance to contain an uncommon class weapon. Dormant powers from swamps and forges have a ??? chance to drop ???. Scholar's class weapons consist of thrusting swords.
Nightreign Scholar Remembrance Quest Walkthrough
How to Unlock and Start Remembrance Quests in Nightreign
In Nightreign, players can randomly find journal entries related to the corresponding Nightfarer that they are using in an Expedition, which are key components to starting Remembrance Quests. These quests provide a backstory to the eight Nightfarers in the game, with players starting a Remembrance through the Roundtable Hold. When completed, these Remembrances will give rewards to players, such as Relics and Garbs (Skins).
When players are stuck in a part of a Remembrance Quest, or if a journal entry is missing, they may start an Expedition with the Nightfarer that they want to progress the quest. Then, defeat the Nightlord and the players will be able to do the next step of the quest. For more information about Remembrance Quests, players may visit this page.
Scholar Remembrance: Vassal's Journal
Part 1, Scholar Remembrance Objectives:
- Unlock the Scholar
- Run Expeditions to collect memory fragments.
- Interact with the Journal on the table
- Start an Expedition
- Search for the underground chamber
- Acquire Vassal's Journal
- Talk to the Undertaker
- Talk to the Iron Menial
- Interact with Vassal's Journal on the chapel desk
- Talk to the Undertaker
Chapter 1 for the Scholar Remembrance is immediately available when you unlock the Scholar. To unlock the Scholar, you need to have The Forsaken Hollows DLC. Using any character, you then need to defeat Gladius Beast of Night (Tricephalos) to unlock the Scholar and Undertaker. Once you've defeated the beast, return to the Roundtable Hold and speak to the Iron Menial, who provides you with a message from the Small Jar Bazaar. You can then unlock Chapter 2 and acquire memory fragments by running more Expeditions until you get enough memory fragments to start your Remembrance.
As the Scholar, head to the "Journal" area of the Roundtable Hold and "Begin Remembrance" to start the questline. After you load into the remembrance, you will find yourself before a desk. Walk up to it and interact with the piece of paper on the desk, and you will learn about an underground chamber below the marsh. You will then need to start an expedition for one of the new expeditions added with the Forsaken Hollow DLC. It's important to note that you need to run this expedition without a Shifting Earth Event.

After you drop into the map, you will find a new marker for your personal objective, flagged by a banner icon. Make your way to the location, which will be a castle. Once you arrive, go enter the building and go through the hole in the wall to your left before the obstruction at the end of the ruined castle. Drop down to the ledge on your left to start your descent to the underground chamber. You will then see a path up on the wall to your right that will be lit with some lamps. Go through and drop down the hole in the floor. You can then enter the room with an open door, on the desk highlighted by a glow will be Vassal's Journal.

After you obtain the journal, you can then finish the expedition and go back to the Roundtable Hold. You will see a prompt that will alert you of a loud sound coming from the chapel. Make your way to the chapel and speak to the Undertaker off to the right by the back of the room. Exhaust the dialogue with her and afterward, you will find the Iron Menial outside, talk to them and exhaust the dialogue with them. After the conversation ends, go back to the desk where you first examined the piece of paper where you learned of the underground chamber and interact with Vassal's Journal on the desk.

After you finish reading through the journal, go back to the Undertaker again and exhaust the dialogue with her, and you will be able to complete this section of the Scholar's remembrance and receive the Scholar's Chalice. You can then progress to unlock more chapters in his journal to unlock the next section of his remembrance questline.

Scholar Remembrance: The Great Hollow
Part 2, Scholar Remembrance Objectives:
- Run Expeditions to collect memory fragments
- Talk to the Small Jar Bazaar
- Defeat Godskin Apostle
- Interact with the Crystallized Knight
For the second part of the Scholar's remembrance questline, you need to run Expeditions or defeat Nightlords as the Scholar to collect memory fragments so you can start the remembrance quest in Chapter 5. Once you have collected the memory fragments, go talk to the Small Jar Bazaar at the Roundtable Hold and ask him to show you the Great Hollow.

You will then be transported into a castle-like structure that is the same one you encounter in the Undertaker's remembrance questline. Defeat the enemies you encounter while you make your way to the top. It is recommended that you defeat the enemies as you go so that you don't have to deal with them later on. When you reach the top after the second set of stairs, jump onto the rock-crystal platform suspended in the middle of the room by the chains and jump onto the beams. Once you get onto the beams, there will be a hole in the wall nearby.

Go through the hole and approach the door at the end of the corridor. It will be locked at the moment, and you will see a prompt where the Scholar will say that he needs to examine the source of the noise from the other side. Go back out to the beams, go straight past the hanging rock platform and on a platform below, you will need to defeat the Marauder. It is a boss fight with a Godskin Apostle accompanied by two knights. The larger HP bar is linked to all three enemies and it's recommended you use the Scholar's Ultimate Art Communion to bring down their HP faster as you deal damage to them.

Once you defeat the Marauder boss fight, you will see a notification that tells you that the location objective can be examined. Go back up to the hanging rock platform to the locked room in the hole in the wall. Once you enter the room and there will be a few items you can interact with for additional lore. You then need to walk up to the crystal formation at the corner of the room and interact with the knight encased inside. Once you do there will be a small bit of dialogue. When it ends, you will be transported back to the Journal area of the Roundtable Hold and you will have completed this section of the Scholar's remembrance. You will also receive the Cleansing Tear, one of the Scholar's unique Relics.

Scholar Remembrance: The Dreglord
Part 3, Scholar Remembrance Objectives
- Talk to the Undertaker
- Check dresser mirror
- Continue analysis in chapel
- Defeat the Dreglord in Limveld
- Talk to the Undertaker
To do the final part of the Scholar's remembrance questline, you need to unlock Chapter 8, which you can do by completing a run and defeating the Balancers expedition. Once you have unlocked Chapter 8, you can go back to the Journal at the Roundtable Hold and "Begin Remembrance". Once you begin, you will have your first objective which is to talk to the Undertaker. You will be able to find her by going back towards the Chapel past the Small Jar Bazaar. Speak to her and exhaust all dialogue and she will give you the Returned Leather Monocle Case.

After speaking to the Undertaker, you then need to go to the dresser where you change Garbs. Interact with the dresser and a dialogue line will pop up with the Scholar saying, "Now I know what to check. There is much to be done." Go back to the chapel and interact with the glowing item on the desk to your right. You then need to select "Oneself". A short dialogue line will play and you will receive the next personal objective.
Once the dialogue ends, you then need to run the Dreglord Expedition and defeat the Traitorous Straghess. Keep in mind that the expedition for the Dreglord can only be unlocked after you defeat the Balancers. After you defeat the Nightlord, you will receive the Headband of the Golden Ones. You will then return to the Roundtable Hold and from there, you need to go back and speak to the Undertaker once again to give her a copy of your research. Once you give the Undertaker the research, you then need to go to the desk inside the chapel and interact with it one last time and you will receive the Remembrance Skin for the Scholar. You can then end the remembrance nearby. Once you return to the Journal Area of the Roundtable Hold, you will receive the Scholar's unique Relic, Note "My Dear Successor" and you will have officially completed the Scholar's Remembrance questline

Elden Ring Nightreign Scholar Journal
Scholar Journal: Chapter 1
A journal entry titled “To Distant Limveld.”
Crossing the storm-tossed seas, I reached the land of my ancestors. According to my documents, there is an academy in which the great sage Hierodas passed down his knowledge — he for whom our institution is named.
But what I seek above all else is the Cleansing Tear. There is a line concerning it found in a collection of folk tales I read back in the institution that I cannot help but dwell upon.
“The Cleansing Tear is our desire manifest — that which will save our kind from its fate.”
It can be found here, in this land, I am certain. The gate hidden in the fog has opened. I will draw the truth into the light, at last.
Scholar Journal: Chapter 2
A journal entry titled "A Lens to Look Into the Past."
The enchanted monocle I carry was given to me by my mentor as I embarked upon this quest. It is invaluable to my analyses.
The glintstone brings various facets of the object into focus. By unspooling the memories buried within the object, the events of the past can be witnessed.
A process which must be performed with care. I shall verify these thruths myself, such that no harms comes to the relationships I have built with others.
I write this record of my actions with those same ideals in mind.
Scholar Journal: Chapter 3
A journal entry titled "The Vestiges Surrounding the Cleansing Tear."
I found a scrap of paper I believe to have been carried by a messenger. Though soiled and in poor condition, I saw faintly but unmistakably the word "tear" imprinted upon it.
Examining it further, I heard the most intriguing words arise from within the vision I beheld...
"The tear... Salvation..."
This warrants further analysis. I shall continue my probe of the phantom vision as usual.
Scholar Journal: Chapter 4
A journal entry titled "The Albinaurics' Secret Elixir."
I discovered a nobleman's diary in a study hidden beneath a marsh. Deciphering it affirmed the connection between the Cleansing Tear and the Albinaurics.
The vision also pointed to a place known as the Research Annexe. Could it be there that we, the Albinaurics, find our manifest desire and reclaim our fate?
An additional observation:
A fellow warrior of the Roundtable Hold was exhibiting some strange behaviour. It seemed she wished to escape the notice of the others, and so, with proof of my claim in hand, I made her a proposal that should serve us both.
I had been deliberating how to frame such a long disappearance from the Roundtable Hold, but now I have my answer. I leave the rest to her.
Scholar Journal: Chapter 5
A journal entry titled "The Trader of the Roundtable Hold."
With scant clues, the Research Annexe, the nobleman's second residence located below Limveld, was near impossible to find without the Priestess' help. I thought of the peculiar being who seems to come and go from the Roundtable Hold at its leisure. I explained my purposes to it and struck a bargain with the small jar merchant.
I communicated via etchings on wax tablet, and the merchant responded gleefully. After an exchange of drawings, we concluded with a detailed agreement. All that was left was to wait. Before long, everything was ready. The truth would soon be revealed. With my heart aflutter, I packed a few belongings and went to the merchant.
Scholar Journal: Chapter 6
A journal entry titled "The Truth of the Cleansing Tear."
What remains of this entry has been crossed out so many times it has become completely illegible.
The majority of it has been torn out completely.
Scholar Journal: Chapter 7
A journal entry titled "That Which I Dreamt While Asleep."
In deepest darkness was I lying down, adrift in a small boat that was barely large enough to contain me in width or length. The sky above too was black as pitch, and though there was nothing at all to mark my passage, no land nor shore in sight, still I felt the rocking of the vessel as it drifted down the stream.
Just then the little boat creaked as someone stopped it dead. I tried to crane my neck to see but my body would not move. All I saw was a hand clasped upon the vessel as it pushed me gently out.
"Cast hatred aside. Heed not the call of the broken and discarded..."
White flowers bloomed on the riverbank, and a sweet scent not unlike honey wafted gently. ...l began to wonder what became of the woman with whom I had made the bargain with. I wish I could give her the crystal I found underground to show her my appreciation.
Scholar Journal: Chapter 8
A journal entry titled "A Sentimental Reawakening at the Roundtable Hold."
My memories returned in vivid clarity after my reawakening at the Roundtable. I have known this uncanny sensation in my frame before - this feeling that my body had been lost. Once I was able to move my arms and legs, I finally stood up.
I asked the Iron Menial who had come to my aid - he responded by indicating the flower sitting at my bedside. Its white petals swayed gently, exuding a uniquely refined aroma.
I must speak to her, it seems. There is no need to keep the bargain anymore.
Scholar Journal: Chapter 9
A journal entry titled "My Purpose."
Limveld is a sacred land under which sleep secrets and mysteries aplenty. What I have unearthed will change our understanding entirely, for I have found that which before was only known to us in books and legends.
I know I will be called a madman, a liar, or worse, but I hope that those follow in my footsteps will be that much closer to the truth.
Allow me to conclude my findings, having now come to the end of this grand romance.
The Cleansing Tear is not a manifestation of our desires - it has not the power to change our fate. It is however, an artifact of great import - let it be known to history.
Anonymousif this character did not have that dumbahh undercut they would be mid tier.

AnonymousUse feint attacks + followup light attack religiously if you're using his cane or thrusting swords (dodging while performing a light attack or while charging a heavy attack, can be followed by a light attack that is the same as a back step attack)
Even a light attack feint will do the damage and stagger of an uncharged heavy and the double hit followup also seems to deal pretty good damage and stagger. Combing the 2 will get you much better DPS and more poise breaks than light attacks, good for revives too! Keep in mind though that light feints and follow ups will bounce off medium and higher shields, even if you're two handing. Heavy feints don't seem to bounce though luckily.
Anonymous
Anonymousits a shame not all items are conferrable, though yes some can't logically be if they debuff/change stats.
an easy fix would be to make his levels be shared, so he can toss non-conferrable items to a teammate who can use it. (do scholars even share item levels if there's more than one in a team?)
AnonymousHow I look at mfs after buffing their atk by 20% with analyze, buffing their physical damage by 25% and affinity damage by 30% with exalted flesh, buffing their atk by 10% or 15% with uplifting aromatic, pulling off golden vow to buff their damage by 15%, debuffing the enemy's defense with darts by 20%, and then giving the enemy frostbite, lowering their defense by an extra 15%, getting the full analyze for their next atk to deal 2x more damage on the enemy
only for the mfs to instantly die before attacking
Anonymous
AnonymousI have to say a rare good scholar player in your team is the best thing you can have. Before I always thought the more dps chars the better, but yesterday had couple of runs with scholars and it was smooth sailing. His ult gives regen so good you can get back form 10% to 100% hp in seconds, his skills and buffs make DoN bosses feel like regular mode.

Anonymous
AnonymousTruly a scholar in that you should learn the game to use him most effectively. Boss weaknesses and movesets, chest/crate/scarab locations, other characters' kits, etc. If you can't do good damage with him either by yourself or through team buffs honestly get good because he's a very well-designed character with one of the highest winrates once you do.

AnonymousTo everyone who is pissed because of C in Int, just know that he actually has around 28 Int, thus the C is somewhat misleading. Still, it's absolutely not enough, but it is serviceable, at least a way more serviceable that what the grade implies

AnonymousPlease, just give him 38 or 40 int in the next update, please. Let me deal actual dps while supporting WITHOUT the dex relic; status effects fall off extremely fast, and relying on them in general sucks doodoo when you can just out-dps, like you ALREADY GAVE HIM the FP RELIC, PLEASE, I BEG YOU FROMSOFT

AnonymousDo people building skill atk on him know he has the lowest weapon scaling in the whole game? He's not a dex character. Give those passives to literally any other melee with balancer relics, please I just want to do dps and win

AnonymousSuch a meticulously made character with amazing gameplay, unique and esoteric passive, and skill and art that require precise cordination and judgement, and there is Revenant who dies in 1 hit and gets outclassed by Recluse in every way. Buff the bean please. Make her like Scholar. Directly starts with very high Faith, but increase with level unlike scholar which stays 50 every level

AnonymousHis DEX boosting relic is nice but I wish it was INT instead.

Anonymous
AnonymousHave in mind that he is certainly no ordinary albinauric. He seems to be the perfect form of his kind, with no deformities

Anonymous
AnonymousSince he's apparently a 1st Generation Albinauric, would that imply that Old Albus might have been as much of a baddie in his heyday like this guy?

AnonymousHis C in int/faith is really holding him back, I'd trade those stats for more vigor or a better dodge any day of the week
Though tbh, if he could get an A in faith/int someday, he'd be a really good fire attack up user
Anonymous
Anonymous>Named Scholar
>Lots of lore reasons to have magical properties and knowledge
>Heavy mage vibes, literally pulls out book and has a monocle, even bleeds differently then other characters, like revenant
>Libra Invader uses staves to attack
>Literally Voldemort-esc skin
> C in intelligence
Anonymous
Anonymousdoes arcane still boost discovery in nightreign like in elden ring? i have been trying my sorcery scholar and i have been finding the best passives and staves with my dormant power helps discover staves relic.

Anonymous
Anonymousmissed opportunity to add an aldia skin.
Gaysaki still hating DS2 success a decade later. Sad!
AnonymousGod, this character can't defend itself, with it's weak hp, stagger power, dodge and niche status effects.
Certain enemies like banished knights pretty much invalidate you if you're targeted and there's almost NOTHING you can do to fight back.
I hate playing as scholar.
Anonymousstealing consumables from scholar feels like stealing my grandpas medication

AnonymousDoes anyone else actually like Scholar's dodge? It doesn't feel as bad as Guardians and it works well with proccing status quickly

Anonymous
Anonymousmy studious ahh the the neurodivergent baddie i pulled by being mysterious

Anonymousmissed opportunity to give him the penetrator skin, considering he uses thrusting swords

AnonymousThis character is kinda broken if you have high arcane weapons like that albinaric weapon amd reavers of blood.

AnonymousOn one hand, it makes sense for him not have very high interest, as albinaurics don't use their intelligence or knowledge to harness magic, but they rather use their innate arcane nature. On the other hand, at least a B (or even an A) in Int had to be obligatory, this mf lived alongside the Raya Lucarians there is no way he didn't pick up anything from them

Anonymous
AnonymousHope FS patch limit the sale of fire pot from merchant but add Holy , Magic , and Lightning pot to their stock.
curse all stup*d cheaters who have improve pot and improve fire atk in every relic.
Anonymousi hope the pots get a rebalance. most of them are pretty bad and hard to get compared to fire pots.

AnonymousScholars using incantations and spells is the new bonk Revenant meme. You can encounter them sometimes during regular expeditions, although they still make use of his real strengths.

AnonymousI mean...either give him a B in INT or name him something else other than "Scholar". Anyone who sees that word would immediately associated it with being academically sound and, well, smart.

AnonymousGreat class when played well but is it really necessary to spend time eat every consumable?? Half of the scholars I come across aren't even there for 2/3 of the game.

AnonymousHot take, but bis Analyze skill is low-key better than Ironeye's mark. Ironeye's Mark makes it so enemies take 10% extra damage and have a heavy stagger if the Mark pops. Only issue is really mobile bosses like Fulghor or Gladius move around too move for you to keep that Mark on.
This is where Analyze outclasses Mark. The skill debuffs enemy attack power by 10% instantly and up to 19% at level 2 (lvl 3 kinda useless), which is already pretty busted since a 19% damage nerf is pretty significant. However, unlike Mark which can only heavy stagger if it pops, you can heavy stagger bosses at anytime if you parry them with the self-buff. Of course, you have to be closer to them, but the closer you are, the faster the circle fills, which means you should have access to the parry if you're Analyzing them consistently.
Not only that, but the relic that buffs teammates' attack power buffs them by 20%. That is objectively better tthan Ironeye's 10% buff on Marked Enemies, and unlike Ironeye, who does need to be in close quarters to Mark, Analyze can be activated across the entire map. So long as both an enemy and your teammates are on your screen, you can instantly proc the 20% damage buff. That's why enemies feel like they melt so damn quick whenever a Scholar shows up to a fight. That relic buff is a MUST-HAVE for any scholar
AnonymousLove using this guy, but I still don't understand why his starting weapon scales with dex instead of arc. Like, who in the right mind thought that was a good idea? It's the equivalent of having Revenant's claw weapon scale with dex instead of faith.

AnonymousThis guy is one of the best force multipliers in the game, second only to Ironeye's Mark, and Mark isn't nearly as versatile as Analyze. The relic buff that lets you buff your teammate's attack power is a must-have. If you have it equipped, not only do you nerf the enemy's attack power by around 21% (which is pretty big since Analyze is basically free), but you also buff your teammate's attack power by 20% as well. This attack buff is universal regardless of whether or not you're buffing yourself or nerfing the enemy

AnonymousI like Scholar but my only complaints with him are how horrible his dodges is idk why doesn't everyone have the same dodge. How long his scan takes, getting up close is risky and more likely to get hit and how dumb the item upgrading is, like it's annoying to lvl up a certain item by having to find it wasting time, they all should lvl equally.

Anonymous
AnonymousIt's weird they chose a C for his INT scaling since it's basically the same as Revenant who has a B intelligence.

Anonymouslazy content creators managing to do a 27min long video saying the obvious but not mentioning Analyze starts with higher gauge the more you use it on different enemies.

Anonymous
AnonymousHe's cool but I would rather grind my nut sack against a cheese grater than try playing him solo ever again.

AnonymousNo reason for his dodge to be so bad when his stats are already below any other nightfarer

Anonymous
AnonymousNothing quite beats the feeling of pulling up to the boss with a mainhand antspur rapier, offhand reduvia, 36 throwing knives, 4 exalted flesh, 8 boiled crabs, and 3 boiled prawn

Anonymousripple blade actually does really good damage and has a usable moveset if you aren't lucky enough to find a decent weapon with bleed and another debuff

AnonymousSorry to all people defending it claiming that he is still learning and acting like Arcane in Elden Ring has anything to do with magic knowledge, but a Raya Lucaria Scholar with a C in INT will never make sense, like yeah my 4 year old cousin is also still learning does that make him a Harvard dropout? No? So yeah let's all just sit down for a moment and admit Fromsoft gave him a C in INT cuz they had already given him a 50 in ARC and giving him any higher stats in INT and DEX would be "too overpowered" and "unbalanced".

Anonymous
AnonymousFun sidenote in regards to his preferred weapon class: Thrusting swords. He can perform light feint attacks with an offhand Thrusting Sword and if it's in the main hand you can do heavy or light feints!

Anonymous
AnonymousLiving the dream with this guy is starting with the wraith calling Bell and triple starlight shards which gives him 12. That's enough to get him through the run easy if you buy a bag from a merchant. Then if you can find a weapon with Wraiths While Walking it gets pretty hilarious because they proc as he rings the bell walking so he's just kicking out jillions of wraiths.

AnonymousI gave a Treasure Marked on Map Relic a try on this guy and I haven't been disappointed yet! The treasure chests almost always have a Crystal Tear Flask or two alongside other more rare consumables, including Perfumes. They also contain multiple level 3 or level 7 weapons to take your pick from and ditch your starting cane if it's not to your liking, and all without ever needing to pick a fight you don't feel ready for. Bonus points to the relic I found which has Post-Damage Healing and Flaming Strike on Starting Weapon plus Treasure Marked.

AnonymousI hope they'll add not only dlc weapons, but dlc consumables and hefty pots.
Throwing level 3 harpoons and call of tibia spinning skeleton would be awesome.

Anonymous
That “something feels off” vibe is pure FromSoftware. They deliberately leave gaps in the story so you’re never 100% sure what’s true, pushing players to doubt, connect the dots, and come up with their own theories instead of handing out clear answers.

Anonymousa member of the School of Hierodas who seeks knowledge through travel = INT C
the doll who come just for revenge = INT B
something is wrong, but I can't prove it.
Anonymous
AnonymousWhat, flask of crimson tears???? It is just a healing item, I never saw it levels up

AnonymousSeeing streamers play this guy, this is what came to my mind:
"Why can't I hold all these Antspur Rapiers and Frozen Needles?"
AnonymousAny reliable sources of spark aromatic?
I can manage to collect gravity/glintstone stones and certain pots at certain camps, but perfumes I only know about the merchant and that 1 starting spot with caravans.
AnonymousApparently his damage over time to threaded enemies on ultimate relic effect can also save him from death during a grab attack. I've had it happen twice now, once while being grabbed by an Ulcerated Tree Spirit and the second time during a grab from Adel. I popped my ultimate then got grabbed nearly right after and lost all HP during the grab animation but the slight heal over time due to the ultimate damage having minor life steal properties actually made me have a sliver of HP once I finally got spat back out and my old man just got right back up, chugged a flask and acted like nothing even happened. Give it a try sometime!

AnonymousWhile access to firebombs is great, it'd be cool if the other types were also as easy to access

AnonymousThrowing Knives > Firebombs
At level 3, they stack up to a +21% damage taken debuff on a boss. That means you and your team will each be doing 21% more damage to a boss for ~45 seconds. (63% more damage overall). Super easy to level because they are found everywhere and each merchant sells infinite amount. Buy 3-4 stacks, level them up. Then you have an additional 63% more damage for the final boss.
AnonymousWeird thing with Scholars thrusting sword in the Sparring Arena. For some reason, his uncharged heavy attack does abnormally low stance damage. It took about 20 of them to break the stance of the Marionette. For reference, it takes 7 light attacks. And 4 "feint attacks" (which do the same damage as uncharged heavy). Might be a bug.

AnonymousCan't decide whether he's hot or not.... difficult decision

AnonymousPlaying a match as Scholar and then playing another as Undertaker back to back feel like switching from hard mode to easy mode, i cannot lie, like aside from spamming r1 and hoping the bleed procs as many times as possible before the boss sends me tumbling down and stunlocks me to death, i genuinely dont know how else to play with this guy, looting consumables from the camps? No thanks, that time is better spent getting extra crimson flasks, runes and buffs from fallen bosses.

AnonymousSince all the guides don't seem to know what starlight shards at level 2 do, I think I figured out it shares with nearby allies? A friend of mine was saying they were getting their FP back when I used them. Would require some more testing though. Difficult to say if that's even useful since you can't see people's FP bars to know they need it.

AnonymousHis parry bubble is deadass one of the most broken things about him. An instant, ult-level stagger on command? And all it takes is about 15 seconds (12 for the ability cooldown and 3-ish for analyzing)?
sign me up!
Anonymous
Anonymous
Anonymousreminds me of my first dog, the gluttony boy who ate everything on the floor.

Anonymous
AnonymousThe only drawback is now I'm spending a lot of time collecting trash at every camp

Anonymous
AnonymousApparently, for his Analyze skill, the minimum for where that circular meter starts can be raised by scanning different types of enemies. So for example, Demi-Humans, Misbegotten, Trolls, Crabs, etc., anything that counts as a different category of creature basically. The meter can be raised as much as 50%, meaning every scan will start halfway full! That's really hard to do though, 20-25% is more realistic.

AnonymousBlood Blade on starting weapon was made for this lad. His arcane never goes up from level 1-15 so the only way to increase the damage further is upgrading his starting cane. At level 1 a single blood blade will do the same damage as a light attack + uncharged heavy attacks before you even consider the bleed buildup. It's actually incredible how effective it is.
My personal favorite relic set up is Night of the Fathom, Damage over time on Scholar's Ultimate + Blood Blade, and Post-Damage healing + Faster Ultimate gain on kills.
AnonymousPeople HIGHKEY be sleeping on this guy. People might have the "hit the boss" mentality (rightfully) beaten into their heads after 15+ years of experience, but Scholar is one of those characters where you DON'T have to always hit the boss. Sometimes, just debuffing that boss does more than an extra figher. Getting that "item effects shared with others" is CRUCIAL since him eating a single crab gives him like 30% extra HP

AnonymousTo revive with his ult, attack an enemy or boss instead of the player and it will also hit any nearby downed player. If you have his automatic damage effect for the ult it will go even faster.

AnonymousThis guy actively competing with Executor for the position of Nightfarer with least mains, hate me for pointing that out if you will but it's the truth.

Anonymous
AnonymousHis stats are average and he relies on low stagger weapons, why does his dodge suck as well?
At least the guardian is built around shields.
AnonymousDont know if anyone mentioned this, but his blood is silver. Just to add to albinauric theory.

Anonymous
Anonymousanyone know what the hell they mean by "Prevents slowing of Character Skill progress"? I can't see any difference in the speed it analyzes or how fast it decays when they're out of the fov or how fast the scholar moves

AnonymousSuggestion for the table about "Scholar Bagcraft Effects on Consumable":
Add a column to indicate category/group. For example, Fan Knives and Kukri are in the same category, so using either will level the category, boosting both. You can make the category be numbers or whatever.
AnonymousAfter some testing in the training area, executor still applies statuses faster then scholar, so I don't think he has 50 arc at base, considering executor has 28 arc base, from what ive seen executor can apply poison in 2 hits, while scholar takes 3 hits to apply poison

His crit animation when using a thrusting sword against a grounded enemy is incredibly cool, especially with his cane sword.

AnonymousUse a relic that gives you Blood Blade on your starting weapon. It scales purely with arcane and builds up bleed super fast. Even if they can't bleed, it's pure physical damage and is a projectile so it's never really bad. Significantly helps with his early game and if the Nightlord you're fighting can be bleed then you're good to keep it the entire run.

Anonymous
AnonymousYAY AN ARCANE CASTER--wait none of the staves or seals have arc scaling in nightreign. They couldn't patch it so the albinauric staff and dragon communion seal have arc scaling? :( back to hitting stuff with my frosty toothpick :(

AnonymousMukbang character before a dedicated Dex/Fth or Str/Int character was a choice… I know we can cope build Dex/Fth duchess or Str/Int raider with relics, but boiled crabs worst nightmare was not on my bingo card

AnonymousScholar has to find time to get consumables for him to use alongside playing with your team, so you're rewarded greatly if you know when and where to look for them. I'd say the items conferred to other players relic is pretty much mandatory on him because you can't always expect to get bombs.
Otherwise he's got a weird but very engaging supporty playstyle where it feels you're doing nothing but everything at the same time. It's quite fun. His threaded damage on ult relic is very powerful as well.

this fucking rememberance takes so long jesus
