Stronger VS Weak to

Ancient Hero of Zamor is a Boss in Nightreign. Bosses are unique and challenging Enemies that can be encountered all over the Lands Between. They have unique move sets, weaknesses, resistances, skills, and abilities. Players have to coordinate attacks to take them down and progress forward.

These long-lived warriors, clad in biting, freezing winds, are said to have been the mortal enemies of the Fire Giants since time immemorial.

Negations (or Absorptions)

The negation numbers are the % of your damage that gets blocked. For example, if a negation is 60, 40% of that damage by that type will go through and 60% will be negated. Bigger number = less damage. A negation of 100 means no damage goes through, and a negation of -100 mean the enemy takes 2x damage from that source. 0 means damage goes pretty much as is.

Resistances

The resistance numbers are the buildup amount to trigger it. For example, if a resistance is 100 you must deal 100 points of the given buildup to trigger it. Note that these go down over time, and increase each time the effect procs. The values after the "/"s indicate the increased resistances after each successive proc.

Ancient Hero of Zamor Fight Strategy

Melee Users

The Ancient Hero of Zamor is a fast and graceful swordfighter who relies on quick movements and sweeping attacks to overwhelm you. Its agile fighting style demands sharp timing and well-placed dodges, but its predictable windups give you plenty of chances to counter in close combat.

One of its signature moves is Spring Forward, where it briefly kneels before launching itself forward into a counterclockwise sword swing. The moment it kneels, prepare to dodge toward the side opposite its sword arm to avoid the slash. Once it lands, it takes a second to regain footing, so this is your chance to rush in with a few strikes before it resets its stance.

Another common attack is the Spinning Swing, where the hero crouches low and performs a fast spinning slash that turns around a full circle and then some. This attack can hit multiple times if you stay too close. To avoid taking damage, backstep or roll away the moment it begins crouching. When the spin ends, the hero will pause slightly, giving you time to land a quick melee combo before it moves again.

One other attack it does is the Frost Breath. This is the boss's mid-range attack that involves blowing frost breath in the direction that it's aimed at until mid-range. To counter this attack, take note that the whole animation is slow. once you see the bvoss get on its knees and prepare to blow out frost, immediately run to its side and punish it with attacks before it finishes the attack.

At around 60% health, the Ancient Hero triggers Imbue Frost, dropping to its knees and enchanting its blade with freezing energy. While this move does not damage you directly, it signals the start of a more dangerous second phase. Use the moment it kneels to land one or two attacks, then back off before the spinning animation ends. After this, its sword strikes will begin to build up frostbite, so dodging cleanly becomes even more important.

Its basic sword swings come in a variety of directions, often performed in quick succession. These slashes are fast, but each one has a clear windup. Focus on dodging diagonally toward the hero's body to stay close, then immediately counter with light attacks between each of its swings. If you manage to stagger it during a combo, press the advantage and deal as much damage as possible before it recovers.

Ancient Hero of Zamor Attacks & Counters

Attack Description Counter
Frost Breath The boss slowly kneels down and then blows out a cold breath that freezes the direction its blowing at. The momentum before executing this attack is slow, so once you see the boss get on its knees slowly, just run to its side to avoid the frost path.
Spring Forward Kneels briefly, then launches into a leaping slash with a counterclockwise swing of its sword. The crouch before the leap gives a clear signal. Time your movement just as the boss takes off, stepping or rolling to its shield side to stay out of the slash's arc.
Spinning Swing Drops into a low stance, then spins with its blade extended, making a full circle and a half rotation. This spinning attack strikes everything around it. Either back out of its reach or roll through the rotation once the first spin passes. The second spin comes with a slight delay.
Imbue Frost Upon reaching around 60% health, the Ancient Hero drops to its knees and channels frost magic into its sword. Take this opportunity to recover or reposition. The enchantment animation leads directly into further aggression, so be ready to react the moment the animation completes.
Swing Chains together multiple sword slashes in quick succession, using a variety of directions which are horizontal, diagonal, and overhead. These strikes can come in quick bursts. Stay just outside its range until the last swing, then close the distance to strike while it resets.
