Demon Prince is a Boss in Nightreign that comes in two distinct variants, with which one appears being determined by the order in which the Day 1 Boss is killed. As with all Bosses in Nightreign, the Demon Prince is a formidable and challenging foe encountered at the end of a day, bringing a unique move set along with specific weaknesses, resistances, skills, and abilities. Taking it down requires players to coordinate their attacks carefully in order to progress forward.
The demons, birthed from a common Chaos, share almost everything between them, even the pride of their prince, and his nearly-faded flame.

Negations (or Absorptions)
The negation numbers are the % of your damage that gets blocked. For example, if a negation is 60, 40% of that damage by that type will go through and 60% will be negated. Bigger number = less damage. A negation of 100 means no damage goes through, and a negation of -100 mean the enemy takes 2x damage from that source. 0 means damage goes pretty much as is.
Resistances
Poison: Immune
Scarlet Rot: 542 / ???
Blood Loss: 252 / ???
Frostbite: Immune
The resistance numbers are the buildup amount to trigger it. For example, if a resistance is 100 you must deal 100 points of the given buildup to trigger it. Note that these go down over time, and increase each time the effect procs. The values after the "/"s indicate the increased resistances after each successive proc.

Demon Prince Fight Strategy
Melee Users
The Demon Prince is a demonic creature capable of attacking from both close and long range, though unlike many other bosses in the game, it doesn't have a distinct phase transition and is a more straightforward fight overall. Which version of the Demon Prince players face depends on which of the two Day 1 bosses was killed last. Killing the Demon from Below last results in a Demon Prince that has access to Laser Beams and the Aerial Sweep, while killing the Demon in Pain last produces a version armed with meteorite attacks instead. The variant can be identified by color: an orange-tinted Demon Prince signals the Laser Beam and Aerial Sweep version, while a black and reddish one signals the meteorite variant. Although both versions share the majority of the same moveset with only a few exceptions, killing the Demon in Pain last is generally recommended, since the moveset that comes with the reddish Demon Prince provides the largest windows to deal damage.
Both versions carry a large set of attacks that players need to keep track of, covering both aerial and ground-based moves that all deal significant damage. For melee players, staying close to the Demon Prince is the recommended approach, as it creates more frequent opportunities to punish it. Its basic strike has a short range and leaves a brief window to sneak in an attack, and many of its other ground attacks offer similar openings. Its Flame Arc, for instance, sees it swing its right hand and create a pool of fire beneath it, which leaves the Demon Prince exposed on its opposite side. Its Consecutive Strikes focuses entirely on whoever has aggro, which in turn leaves the rest of the party free to attack from behind. It's also worth noting that the fifth hit of the Consecutive Strikes combo takes noticeably longer than the rest of the strikes in the sequence.
Regardless of which variant players are facing, the Demon Prince's unique skill also creates a window to deal damage. Laser Beam can look intimidating at first, but it follows a consistent zigzag pattern, and getting behind the boss before it fires allows players to chip in a solid amount of damage. Meteor Shower and Fire Bullets, on the other hand, cause the boss to charge along the ground, leaving plenty of time to get hits in. In a group setting, one player can hold the Demon Prince's aggro while the others stay out of its line of sight, continuously chipping away from behind and pulling back whenever it takes to the air. Any time it flies upward, players should be ready to evade, since it typically follows up with an AoE attack on the way down. Once it lands, the pressure can resume.

Demon Prince Attacks & Counters
Normal Strike
The Demon Prince uses his claws to strike you two consecutive times. This will be a two-strike attack, and each attack will have a short period where you can dodge, roll, and sneak in an attack.
Grab Strike
The Demon Prince grabs you and throws you to the ground. Just like the Normal Strike, the Demon Prince will do two consecutive grabs. You can easily distinguish if the strike is a Grab Strike by looking at its hands. There will be a lightning animation for each swing. Evade this by moving out of distance from the Demon Prince.
Fiery Swoop
The Demon Prince flaps its wings twice, flies up in the air, and swoops down, slashing the ground with its claws in a forward motion. This can easily be evaded by dodging or rolling forward from the Demon Prince's trajectory. You'll then have a brief period where you can attack him from behind.
Fireball
The Demon Prince creates a pool of fire in his right hand and throws it directly at the player. Take note that the trajectory of the fireball also creates a line of fire for a brief period of time. You can evade this by rolling sideways
Ground Slam
The Demon Prince raises his arms and quickly slams the ground. As the Demon Prince raises his hand, you'll have enough time to roll away before it lands. You'll have to keep moving as the Demon Prince can quickly follow up an attack after hitting the ground.
Flame Arc
The Demon Prince positions his right hand behind him and swings in an upward motion, creating a pool of lava next to him. It's best to stay clear of this attack and keep your distance, as it produces a pool of lava on the floor, damaging everyone inside it.
Aerial Explosion
The Demon Prince engulfs his right hand with flame and flies upwards. He'll then throw all of the accumulated fire towards you. Once the fireball lands, it explodes, damaging a small area. If you're a melee user, you can roll forward to try to close the distance just before the fireball lands.
Consecutive Strikes
The Demon Prince attacks you with a series of consecutive strikes. Note that this attack chases the current targeted player of the Demon Prince, and while in motion, you can dodge and roll to evade the attack, and once you're out of line of the strikes, you can strike the Demon Prince yourself. You can also secure a hit on the Demon Prince on its last strike, as it will take more time to cast the last strike.
Burning Air (Demon from Below)
The Demon Prince charges for a brief second, absorbing all of the fire around to quickly fly backward while throwing burning air at you. While the Demon Prince charges, you'll have a short period to run sideways. Use this time to evade the burning air from him.
Laser Beam (Demon from Below)
A sweeping laser beam that does massive damage if connected. The Demon Prince charges up and fires a laser beam, and sweeps it back and forth. He'll then follow it up with an explosive burst that deals high AoE damage. Once you see the Demon Prince charging from its mouth, it's an indicator that its next attack will be the laser beam. Quickly move backwards to evade the zigzag laser beam coming from the Demon Prince. After the three laser beams, he'll follow up with a laser burst that is able to reach your range. Run sideways and roll to dodge the attack.
Aerial Sweep (Demon from Below)
The Demon Prince flies into the air and lunges towards you with his claws, creating a line of fire behind him. It's best to roll sideways from its path, and once the Demon Prince lands on the floor again, you'll have a short period where you can attack before it becomes mobile again.
Fire Bullets (Demon in Pain)
The Demon Prince charges his arms with two huge fireballs, and after a short time, the two charged-up balls will shoot multiple fireballs towards you. You can easily dodge this by looking at the trajectory of the fireballs. Do keep in mind the position of the Demon Prince, as you may get attacked by focusing on the fireballs.
Meteor Shower (Demon in Pain)
The Demon Prince raises his head and charges up fire that will turn into meteor showers after a period of time. Meteor Shower takes a significant time to cast and launch. You can use this window to deal serious damage to the Demon Prince. Once launched, keep on dodging and evading the meteors.
AnonymousTrash boss to solo in day 1 especially in DoN since they both won't stop attacking simultaneously.

AnonymousHonestly, had I not defeated them last year in DS3, I would be annoyed too. Fortunately I learned you can just walk between their legs or behind them, no need to dodge.

I solo all of them using a Duchess main and with only the default dagger (+2). I have a crits-build and blood loss imbue, it's very effective against them, as long as you know their attack pattern and the momentum of their attacks.

AnonymousBtw the wiki info is just wrong here. The variant you kill LAST is the one who becomes Demon prince, not the one you kill first. The one you kill first will not be the Demon Prince. Killing Demon From Below (Orange) first means Demon in Pain (Red) will be the Demon Prince and vice versa. Demon from Below has a laser attack and Demon in Pain has the meteors.

AnonymousTip: Defeat the Demon in Pain (dark coloured) first. Even though his laser beam in Day 2 looks insane it is actually a joke. It is heavily telegraphed and you can literally stand near him on either side during the attack and land in free attacks for the duration. Unlike his meteor shower, the laser won't hit you.
The whole Attacks & Counters execution is unnecessary.
AnonymousSo these are the original Valiant Gargoyles ?
Think I'll take the Gargoyle duo over this garbo.
AnonymousI love how in Ds3 the first phase was really fun and didn't feel like a gank boss. And then they ruined it. Like in Ds3 they alternated between who has using the poison attack and who was actually fighting the player. I don't know if it was just me but now they both attack you at the same time and then both breathe poison on you. Sad to see this happen to one of my favorite bosses.

AnonymousWho tf decided to put this is day 1? Especially in new map when you’re like level 7-10, when the map is so small, when the camera is so bad and you can’t track them, when they two shot you in most cases? This fight in solo is legit harder than most nightlords.

Anonymousgenuinely can't wrap around some of the decisions in this DLC.
- This guy being here as a night 1 boss, which is basically an instaquit for anyone who hasn't got a decent amount of experience from this fight in DS3. Plus the arena is like a 5th of the size compared to DS3
- Mohg being the real one, with the anti-nihil tear being a rare drop and that new extra attack, and only giving 70k runes
- Triple Death Knights
- The Gladius invasion
- DLC enemies sometimes being in a duo fight (who the hell asked for divine beast warrior + curseblade) when they're enough of a challenge alone
Not to mention fighting these bosses sometimes feels like being at Depth 2-3 or something.
AnonymousThese two are utter dog sh*t to solo Night 1, what the f*k were the devs thinking adding a DLC BOSS in Day 1!? Just have both phases be in Day 2 ffs
What pisses me off the most is that these two are genuinely an amazing fight in DS3 but here they just become gank fest in a rena they clearly were not built to inhabit
Anonymousso they reversed the role, of which demon you kill last, you get the opposite demon from dark souls 3

AnonymousBruh they just put the hardest ds3 boss as a day 1 boss wtf. It's like if orphan of kos was just walking around as a regular enemy

AnonymousBeware solo players, unless you're Wylder the quick laser beam attack will outright one shot you unless you have above 50% affinity damage negation. Easiest way to lose a free revive.

Anonymous
Anonymousfeels easier than in ds3 because of how fast you move and how miniature the arena is. the only thing relatively annoying is that he often leaves the arena and cast the beam out there. overall, nerfed af, especially because of extreme vulnerability to bleed. (solo experience)

AnonymousIf you get the demon duo on night 1 the night 2 boss is guaranteed the demon prince and which version you fight on night 2 depends on which demon you kill on night 1. It's better to go for the demon in pain but if your run is good enough you can compensate for what you'll face next. Just stack up on affinity damage negation, especially since the weapon-bequeathed harmonia do a lot of elemental damage

AnonymousWhen I saw him do the jumping slam and the meteor shower. Awful memories started flooding back. I got PTSD, and my wylder died from a panic attack

AnonymousThe arena is way to small for this boss fight, glad to see these guys back but wtf were they thinking??

As much as I hate the demon duo in nightreign it's pretty cool how the camera pans out when you land a critical hit for both them and the demon prince.
