Leonine Misbegotten Combat information

Negations (or Absorptions)

The negation numbers are the % of your damage that gets blocked. For example, if a negation is 60, 40% of that damage by that type will go through and 60% will be negated. Bigger number = less damage. A negation of 100 means no damage goes through, and a negation of -100 mean the enemy takes 2x damage from that source. 0 means damage goes pretty much as is.

Resistances

The resistance numbers are the buildup amount to trigger it. For example, if a resistance is 100 you must deal 100 points of the given buildup to trigger it. Note that these go down over time, and increase each time the effect procs. The values after the "/"s indicate the increased resistances after each successive proc.

Leonine Misbegotten Fight Strategy

Melee Users

The Leonine Misbegotten is a wild and aggressive boss with beast-like features, a thick red mane, and a large greatsword. It moves quickly and fights with raw strength, using fast and heavy attacks that can overwhelm unprepared players. Staying calm and learning its patterns is the best way to survive this fight. For melee-focused players, this boss can be challenging at first, but many of its attacks leave big openings if you're patient and know when to strike.

One of its basic attacks is a fast Slash, where it swings its greatsword in a single clockwise motion. This move comes out quickly and can sometimes be parried if your timing is sharp. If you're not confident in parrying, dodge just before the swing connects and step in close to land a couple of light attacks while it's resetting its stance.

Another move is Stomp, where the boss stomps the ground and then spins its sword around in two full circles. The spin can hit players who are staying too close, so back off as soon as you see the stomp animation begin. After the second spin, the boss has a short recovery window. This is your chance to rush in and get a heavy attack in before it recovers its footing.

The Leonine Misbegotten can also use Roar, where it raises both arms in front of its face and lets out a powerful scream. This causes a small shockwave that deals damage in an area around the boss. As soon as you see the arms go up, roll backward or out of range. Once the shockwave ends, the boss pauses for a brief moment, giving you just enough time to get back in and land a quick combo.

Another attack is Hop Slice, where the boss hops into the air and brings its sword down in a strong vertical slam. This move is slow and easy to read, so watch the hop carefully and dodge to the side right before the sword hits the ground. After it lands, the boss will be briefly stuck in a recovery animation, which is a great time to deal a heavy strike or two.

Lastly, the boss has a combo called 4 Slash, where it swings its sword over its head and begins a chain of four slashes in a row. This combo can be dangerous if you dodge backward or get stuck in a corner, so wait for the first swing and roll toward the boss or to its side through each slash. Once the fourth hit ends, the Leonine Misbegotten will slow down for a moment. That's your cue to go in with a few quick attacks before backing off again.

Leonine Misbegotten Attacks & Counters

Attack Description Counter
Slash The Misbegotten winds up its sword and slashes it in a single, clockwise arc, often used as an opener or a quick punish if you're too close. This move is parryable if timed correctly watch for the moment the sword begins its motion across the body. If you're not confident in your parry timing, roll to the side just as the swing begins to avoid damage and counterattack from the flank.
Stomp The boss stomps with one foot, then immediately spins its sword in two full 360-degree circles, hitting a wide area around it. The stomp signals the incoming spin, so start backing away or prepare to roll through the first spin and again for the second. Don't stay too close, get behind the boss or wait for the spin to end, then punish its recovery.
Roar The Misbegotten raises both arms in front of its head, then lets out a primal roar, dealing area-of-effect damage around it. As soon as the arms go up, back away or roll out of its immediate vicinity. The AOE blast is short-ranged but can stagger if you're caught in it. After roaring, the boss often pauses briefly. Use this moment to heal or land a quick hit.
Hop Slice The boss hops slightly into the air, then brings its greatsword down in a powerful vertical slam aimed directly in front of it. Roll sideways at the moment the sword begins to descend. The vertical nature of this attack makes it easy to avoid with lateral movement. After the slam, the sword often sticks in the ground for a moment, use this opening to get in a hit or two.
Four-Slash Combo The Misbegotten begins by swinging its sword over its head and down, then follows with a rapid combo of four slashes, alternating directions with each swing. Dodge the first overhead strike to the side, then time your rolls to avoid the follow-up swings. Don't try to punish mid-combo, but just wait until the fourth slash finishes, then counter during the brief recovery. If you're using a shield, this is a stamina check—block only if you can handle the full combo.

Really hard to consistently dodge a lot of his multi hit combos as scholar? Feel like this guy's always bullies my early game scholar if I don't have blood blade on starting weapon or a starting wraith calling bell, and I'm shocked every time it happens. Not being able to stagger him reliably with a thrusting sword doesn't help either.

      • Anonymous

If he does the stomp into double sweeping slash, you can jump over the first slash and stagger him out of the second one (assuming you're using anything that bonks harder than a greatsword). If not, don't worry. Recluse covers enough distance with her rolls to dodge the entire move, Duchess can spam dodge out of it, Executor can parry, Ironeye has Mark, and Guardian can just tank it with Steel Guard. Just don't be Revenant and up close but then again, why would you?

I find it funny how the great enemy (field boss) version of this boss is generally easier than the regular enemy version because of the lack of annoying misbegotten adds outside the encampment
