Black Blade Kindred Fight Strategy
Melee Users
The Black Blade Kindred is an aggressive boss, but most of its attacks are relatively slow and well-telegraphed. The one move that can be tricky to dodge consistently is Fury of the Kindred. This is a five-hit sword combo and the timing between the two pairs of slashes before the final overhead strike is awkward and can easily catch you off guard. Your best option is to sprint directly away as soon as you see the Kindred draw its sword to the left side of its face as this usually puts you outside the range of the entire combo.
The Black Blade Kindred also switches between a sword and a halberd throughout the fight, often attacking during the transition. It typically starts with the sword, which is used for close to mid-range. The halberd is longer-ranged and favors wide, sweeping attacks. Be ready to adapt depending on which weapon it’s using.
Another dangerous aspect of the fight is when its weapons release reddish energy waves, the moves he uses for this are namely are Corpse Wax Cutter and Corpse Wax Whirlwind. These attacks deal massive damage and will drain your HP for a short time when you're hit. Always watch for the red energy forming around the weapon, this should give you the cue to prepare to move away from the Black Blade Kindred and avoid the red energy waves.

Black Blade Kindred Attacks & Counters
| Attack | Description | Counter |
| Corpse Wax Cutter | The Black Blade Kindred raises its sword overhead before slamming it into the ground, releasing a reddish shockwave that travels in a straight line. | You’ll notice red energy gathering around the sword just before the slam, that should be your cue to prepare to dodge. As soon as the sword hits the ground, dodge roll to left side to avoid the energy wave. Dodging to the right is more risky |
| Sword Thrust | The Black Blade Kindred pulls its sword back in a brief wind-up before thrusting it straight ahead. | Dodge roll to the side or through the attack. |
| Running Slash | The Black Blade Kindred dashes around then performs a diagonal slash with its sword. | Wait for the slash then dodge roll through the attack. |
| Double Sword Slash | The Black Blade Kindred performs two consecutive slashes toward the ground. | Move away from and create some distance as it readies its sword for this attack. |
| Reverse Sword Slice | The Black Blade Kindred raises its sword, then slashes upward along the ground, turning as it follows through. The attack leaves behind a small AoE marked by a golden glow on the ground. | Dodge roll either away from or through the attack, then move in quickly to land a few hits while it's vulnerable. |
| Fury of the Kindred | The Black Blade Kindred readies its sword before lunging forward with a five-hit combo. The first four strikes are fast horizontal slashes alternating left and right, followed by a final vertical sword slam to the ground. | Once you see it pull its sword to the left side of its face, immediately start sprinting straight away from it, this will usually put you out of range of the entire combo. |
| Halberd Switch | The Black Blade Kindred sheathes its sword and draws the halberd from its back, spinning counterclockwise and performs a sweeping slash. | Once it performs the sweeping motion, you can dodge roll through the attack. If you're confident and close enough, you can also jump over the halberd and follow up with a jumping attack. |
| Spinning Slash | The Black Blade Kindred pulls the halberd back, then spins around while sweeping the weapon around it. | Dodge roll through the swing, this attack has a long wind-up before it sweeps. |
| Aerial Halberd Sweep | The Black Blade Kindred flies up into the air and raises its halberd, then crashes down toward you, slamming the halberd down to the ground upon landing. | Prepare to dodge as soon as the Black Blade Kindred hovers into the air. Time your dodge roll just as it slams the halberd into the ground to avoid the attack. |
| Corpse Wax Whirlwind | The Black Blade Kindred leaps into the air and after a short delay, it swings the halberd around twice, creating a reddish tornado that covers a wide area. The attack ends with an overhead slash. | Once it jumps, back away immediately to avoid getting caught in the tornado. Keep retreating until the overhead slam lands. |
| Charge Forth | The Black Blade Kindred charges forward with its halberd dragging along the ground, then finishes with an upward slash. This is often followed by either a halberd slam or a wide horizontal slash. | As soon as it begins its charge, dodge roll to either side to avoid the upward slash. This should also keep you safe from from the follow-up attacks. |
| Sword Switch | The Black Blade Kindred sheathes its halberd behind its back, then draws the sword from its waist and performs a spinning slash in a wide arc around itself. | As the Black Blade Kindred draws the sword, be ready to dodge roll backward or away from it to avoid the spinning slash. |

Anonymousi usually dont check pages for non-nightlords. but i had to check him cuz he's the only one that always gives me trouble, consistently teamwipes us. BBH is nothing in comparison

AnonymousThis and Valiant Gargoyle are still better than at least half of the nightlords.

AnonymousYeah my guy it's definitely a good idea to fight this dude on day 1. Go right on and solo him whilst we go for the castle.

Anonymous
AnonymousThankfully, not nearly as bad with Recluse and a multi-projectiles spell. 20 Magic Resistance isn't that much, pretty standard resistances.

Anonymous*teammate pings a random field boss on day 2*
*arrives and sees its THIS MF*
"NOPE!"
Don't waste your time on this POS. Way too tanky for mediocre rewards. You can kill 3-4 other field bosses for similar if not better stuff in the same amount of time it'd take to down this dogs**t boss.
AnonymousIf maliketh is the grim reaper, these guys are angels of death. Think about that next time you make a sandwich.

AnonymousI dont care if he oneshots me but for f sake who designed him in a way that half of the weapons cannot hit him from mele range?

Anonymousis this guy actually a nightboss? I cant find him in the expeditions list and never have I seen him outside of being a field/castle boss.

AnonymousThe one boss this game didn't need. They were already disgusting in Elden Ring and in this game they WILL pancake you as well. You can deal with Day 2 bosses but these and BBH are always an instant skip, no matter your loadout.

AnonymousProtip: don't fight this guy if you see him as a formidable field boss, it is *NOT* worth it at all to try and fight him; he can one shot a lot of level 10 characters, he has TONS of HP and resistances, and he won't give a bigger reward compared to other formidable bosses (like a formidable erdtree avatar, which is SIGNIFICANTLY easier), overall you are likely to either party wipe multiple times if playing with randoms, or you will spend SO MUCH TIME fighting him that it will mean you are underleveled and under-geared for the final night boss even if you manage to beat him.
BBK just needs to be nerfed in my opinion, unless they want to leave it as a "noob trap", but then it feels like a wasted spawn on the map for experienced players who know to not bother
AnonymousIf you get this as your end of night boss just accept the run is dead and go next.

Castle rooftop variation is without a doubt one of the most BS rooftop bosses that can spawn imaginable. He's spastic and awkward to hit with melee weapons because of both his model stance and horrible camera lock-on, not to mention that his damage is way over tuned and can easily one shot every Nightfairer in the game. The rooftop arena itself isn't doing you any favors with a boss of this size either. If you're playing with a well coordinated squad then it's doable, but your time is better spent taking out literally any other field boss on the map. If you're doing solo runs... just don't even bother. This guy is the ultimate rage baiter.
