Night's Cavalry is a Boss in Nightreign. Bosses are challenging foes that players will face at the end of each day. They have unique move sets, weaknesses, resistances, skills, and abilities. Players have to coordinate attacks to take them down and progress forward.
The Night's Cavalry, who now wander the dim roads at night, were once led by the Fell Omen and were deliverers of death for great warriors, knights, and champions.

Negations (or Absorptions)
The negation numbers are the % of your damage that gets blocked. For example, if a negation is 60, 40% of that damage by that type will go through and 60% will be negated. Bigger number = less damage. A negation of 100 means no damage goes through, and a negation of -100 mean the enemy takes 2x damage from that source. 0 means damage goes pretty much as is.
Resistances
Poison: 154 / 252 / 542 / 999
Scarlet Rot: 154 / 252 / 542 / 999
Blood Loss: 252 / 542 / 999
Frostbite: 252 / 542 / 999
The resistance numbers are the buildup amount to trigger it. For example, if a resistance is 100 you must deal 100 points of the given buildup to trigger it. Note that these go down over time, and increase each time the effect procs. The values after the "/"s indicate the increased resistances after each successive proc.

Night's Cavalry Fight Strategy
Melee Users
In this fight, you’ll face two Night’s Cavalry at once, one wielding a Glaive and the other wielding a Flail. Managing both enemies simultaneously is key to this boss fight. Never have your entire team focus on just one target, as that leaves the other free to attack uncontested. You'll have to split your group, assign two players to pressure one while the third keeps the other occupied. Coordinate with your team on who takes on which boss.
Both Night’s Cavalry are highly mobile on horseback, capable of repositioning quickly. To mitigate this, stay close and try to stick to their left side, the side opposite their weapon hand. Their right side is far more dangerous due to their sweeping melee attacks. Whenever possible, try to reposition behind the horse’s hind legs to land safer hits while avoiding the horse’s front-facing stomp and shove attacks.
Once a Night’s Cavalry is dismounted, the fight becomes significantly easier. On foot, they lose much of their speed and can no longer charge or reposition quickly. This doesn't mean you should get careless, they still have their wide-reaching melee swings and can still hit you at mid-range. One dangerous move to watch out for is their AoE attack, where they’ll slam the hilt of their weapon into the ground, creating a shockwave that knocks back anyone caught within the circle. Watch for the wind-up animation and dodge at the right time.
Prioritize staggering and dismounting one enemy first to create a numbers advantage. Once one is on foot, it becomes easier to isolate and finish them off before turning your full attention to the second.
An additional attack to watch out for is the Steed's Side Head Butt. When the mounted boss is being pressured in close-range or melee attacks, it will move forward slightly and let its steed headbutt you sideways. You'll need to start backing up a bit when you see it move forward while attacking it in close range.

Night's Cavalry Attacks & Counters
| Attack | Description | Counter |
| Mounted | ||
| Rearing Slam | The Night's Cavalry's horse rears up and slams its hooves down onto the ground. | Try to reposition yourself behind the horse near its hind legs and land a quick attack while it's still recovering from the slam. |
| Horse Bash | The horse shoves itself violently to its right. | Roll into the horse’s attack and aim to position yourself near its hindquarters. |
| Rearing Swing | The horse rears onto its hind legs as the rider swings its weapon to its right | Keep an eye out for when the horse rears up, this is usually followed up with a swing of the weapon. |
| Side Swing | The Night's Cavalry will swing its weapon to the right side while mounted on the horse. | You can parry these attacks or dodge them one at a time. The best move is to move away from the mount or try to reposition yourself to the left side of the horse. As soon as you see the weapon start to swing, either dodge roll to the side or parry if you've got your timing down. |
| Leaping Slam | The boss leaps in your direction, and the Knight swings at you upon landing. | Dodge Roll to either side once the boss leaps with its steed. |
| Side Head Butt | When pressured in melee attacks, the boss's steed quickly shoves its head to the right to hit you. | The boss slightly moves forward before doing this attack, so make sure to back up when you see the steed move forward a bit. |
| Dismounted | ||
| Spinning Swing | The Night's Cavalry swings its weapon in a wide horizontal arc twice around its head, striking anyone in front of it. The attack has decent range and can catch you off guard if you're too close. | Try to create some distance once you see the Night's Cavalry take a stance. |
| Swing | The Night's Cavalry does a single horizontal swing with its weapon. | You can parry the swing with precise timing or dodge roll just as the glaive begins its arc. Rolling into the attack can position you near the Night's Cavalry’s flank, giving you a brief window to counterattack safely. |
| Weapon Slam | The Night's Cavalry slams the hilt of its weapon into the ground, generating a small shockwave that knocks back anyone caught within its radius. The range is limited, but if you're too close when it lands, you’ll be pushed back. | Watch for the wind-up animation where the Night's Cavalry raises its weapon vertically, this signals the attack. As soon as you see it, back away or dodge roll to avoid being caught in the blast. |
Elden Ring Nightreign Night's Cavalry Lore, Notes & Other Trivia
- Bug: Damaging rider and killing horse with a weapon dealing Fire Damage will trigger unique fire-related animation for rider as well. This result in rider death regardless of their HP left.
- Bug can be reproduced for headshot as well, but requires the position in which rider is hit first and then horse dies. Making it difficult to achieve in regular gameplay.
- Bug can be reproduced for any horse-type boss, where rider and horse have separate healthbars (e.g. extra knights durfing Tree Sentinel Night Boss)
