Missions in Nioh 3 are the objectives or quests that players can participate in the game. Missions are no longer tied to exploration, and players are now able to explore the interconnected world as they complete Main Missions, Side Missions, and Myths. Nioh 3 Missions are currently divided into three types: Main Missions, Sub Missions, and Myths (or Fated Stories). Each of these categories serves a different purpose, and some can only be accessed after reaching a specific condition. This page will list all types of missions throughout the various periods in the game.

Quest Types in Nioh 3
There are a few different types of quests in Nioh 3, called Missions. There are Main Missions and Myths, which are side quests. Main Missions are designed to progress the story of the game and reveal lore about the world. Myths, on the other hand, are side quests that players can pick up by exploring the world or speaking to certain NPCs.

Players can find a log of their quests both completed and in progress by going to their menu and selecting "Progress". From there, they will be able to see a list of ongoing Missions and Myths as well details for each specific quest, including required levels, rewards, and collectibles.

Main Missions in Nioh 3
Main Missions are the main quests that drive the story forward in the game. They are represented by the
icon. You can see this icon on the compass, map, and quest log to identify if something is a Main Mission.

The very first main mission in the game, The Fall of Edo Castle, for example, follows Ceremony, an Objective that serves as a tutorial for players and introduces mechanics to the game. Players need to complete Main Missions to unlock the next one that follows. Main Missions are linear in progression and they give rewards upon completion.

What are Objectives in Nioh 3?
Objectives in Nioh 3 function similarly to Main Mission in that they move the story forward, but they are not classified as main missions themselves. Each Objective has specific tasks that must be completed to progress.
They are represented by the
icon, which can be seen on the map, compass, or mission log under the Progress Tab in the menu. Objectives act as narrative bridges, guiding players from one Main Mission to the next. While Objectives may involve combat encounters, major boss battles are reserved for Main Missions

Myths in Nioh 3
Myths are the game's version of Side Quests. They are represented by the
icon. These are missions that players unlock by exploring and interacting with the world, finding and talking to certain NPCs. Unlike Main Missions, they are not the driving force that progresses the story forward, but they still reveal more lore about the world and its characters. These side missions can have a variety of objectives from talking to certain NPCs or finding specific items and people. Because Myths are not related to progressing the main story, players can find and complete the objectives of these myths while exploring at their own time.

What are Battle Scrolls in Nioh 3?
Battle Scrolls is a mechanic that allow players to replay completed missions or undertake Battle Scroll-exclusive missions. Battle Scrolls are represented by the
icon. This system can be accessed through Shrines by selecting the Battle Scroll in the menu that appears. Battle Scrolls can be helpful for players who want to revisit certain missions or farm certain equipment from enemies.
