Shadows on the Capital is a Myth in Nioh 3. In Shadows on the Capital, the player must help a ghost find their Onmyo mage allies fighting yoka in a village in Kamigamo. Myths in Nioh 3 are story quests that consist of granting a request from the shadows of the deceased that can be completed to earn rewards. Myths are not required to reach the ending, but completing them will reward the player with various items that can help boost their character's progression or reveal secret locations.
An Onmyo mage spent all of their strength at Awawa no Tsuji, so I will go in the mage's stead to assist his allies in the direction of Kamigamo.
How to Unlock Shadows on the Capital Myth in Nioh 3
- To unlock Shadows on the Capital, you must talk to the ghost located by the wall on the southern side of Awawa no Tsuji [Nioh 3 Map]. The ghost will then tell you that he is worried about his allies fighting the yokai in Kamigamo.

Capturing an Enemy Base
After talking to the ghost, head north to Funaokayama, with the closest available shrine being the Tacchi Gate [Nioh 3 Map]. Traverse the path going north from the shrine to reach Kamigamo and keep following it until you reach an Enemy Base.
Defeat all six enemies lurking around the area, such as several Jailer Oni and Oni-bi. Once the fifth enemy is defeated, a Yamainu will emerge in the middle of the village. Defeat it to capture the enemy base and to complete the objective, then the ghost will wonder if the Kamo Onmyo mages are alive.
Once the dialogue with the ghost is finished, go to the area marked on the map, just northwest of your current location. Fast travel to the Funaokayama shrine [Nioh 3 Map], then jump to the other side of the wall on the northern side to access the village. Head northeast to reach the stairs leading to the temple, then loot the corpse nearby for Prayer Beads and a Malefactor's Helmet.
Confronting the Onmyo Mages
Head up the stairs to find the Onmyo mages conducting a ritual that turns humans into yokai. Approach them, and a One-eyed Oni will appear — defeat it, then the Onmyo mages fighting alongside the yokai they created. Once they are all defeated, Shadows on the Capital will be completed, and you will be rewarded with Ninja's Locks and the Secret Skills Text: Dread Bringer.
