To the Beginning is a Main Mission in Nioh 3. To the Beginning is the first objective during the Return to Edo period. After Takechiyo returns to the day Edo Castle fell, he is determined to defeat him. Objectives are special quests that are required to be progressed for players to unlock Main Missions. Main Missions in Nioh 3 are quests that are required to progress through the main story, which rewards the player with access to additional areas and levels to explore. A Main Mission will also give players various rewards for completing them.

Stop Tokugawa Kunimatsu's Savagery
After completing Dark Roots, Takechiyo will be brought back to the day when Edo Castle fell to the yokai attack. This time, he fends off the yokai that barges into the dojo before Hattori Hanzo arrives, and Kunimatsu slips away.
After the cutscene ends, To the Beginning will automatically start. You will have to go through the Edo Castle once more, this time without Kunimatsu to escape underground. Exit the dojo and turn left to go down the corridor to find a corpse with some loot. After looting the corpse, you can make your way towards the objective marker and go through the half-opened door to go to the next area.
After you pass through the gate, the related Main Mission, Light of Hope, will trigger. Where you will have to drive back the yokai that continues to appear in the castle and escape underground. To view a full walkthrough for the mission, click here.
Once you complete the main mission Light of Hope, you will also complete To the Beginning and can move on to the next objective, A New Era.
