The Nioh 3 Futamata Notes & Tips

Starting from the Southeast Entrance

  • The Myth: Searching for a Spy can be unlocked by speaking with Hattori Hanzo on top of a house near the Tealeaf Village Shrine. [Nioh 3 Map]
  • At the enemy fort north of the Tealeaf Village Shrine will be a small chest on top of a platform containing an x1 Ninja's Locks. [Nioh 3 Map]
  • Near the walls of the enemy settlement is a well where you can find a Kappa. 
  • From the well, climb up the second staircase on the right and keep on climbing up until you reach an outshed.
  • Head to the locked gate in the western area and use the Abandoned Shrine Key.
    • Upon entering the Abandoned Shrine, you'll have to help a Scampuss against a few soldiers. Defeating the Soldiers will trigger a boss fight against a Kyokotsu. [Nioh 3 Map]
  • Head past the boss area to reach the Abandoned Bamboo Grove Shrine. Further north will be three pathways.[Nioh 3 Map]
    • Heading west leads you back to Futamata Road.
    • Heading east will lead you to a riverbank
    • Head north to continue exploring Futamata.
  • Upon heading north, you'll encounter the Futamata Dark Realm. [Nioh 3 Map]
  • Next to the stall, climb up on the nearby platform. There will be a house with a large chest inside. Beside the house, in a corner, you'll be able to find a Kodama. [Nioh 3 Map]

Futamata Castle

  • Once the quest: Mirage Fortress has started, head to the Futamata Castle - Riverside Shrine. [Nioh 3 Map]
  • Initially, the front gate will be closed. Players will need to navigate east to scale up and enter the castle outskirts.
    • Once you've reached the outskirts using the east entrance, there will be a house on the right. Inside will be a small chest where you can acquire an x1 Samurai's Text. [Nioh 3 Map]
    • Exit the house and unlock the gate. Near the gate, you'll find a Kodama behind a wooden spiked fence. You can reach this Kodama by going through the alley behind the house where the fence is attached. [Nioh 3 Map
    • Continue progressing until you've climbed up another ladder. You'll find a well and a stable. One of the doors of the building can be destroyed, and behind it will be another Kodama. [Nioh 3 Map]
    • Head below and navigate through the trenches. As you scale up past the rolling boulder, there will be several boxes on the left side that you can go over. Destroy the bamboo poles on the left side to find a corpse that will grant you a x1 Samurai's Locks. [Nioh 3 Map]
      • Just near the bamboo poles is a pile of logs you can kick down to return to an earlier area.
    • Past the trenches will be a wooden bridge ascending to the top. On the right side of the bridge will be an open railing. Drop down the railing to find a Kappa.
      • Kick down the explosive barrel and interact with the corpse in front of it to acquire an x1 Ninja's Text. [Nioh 3 Map]
    • Scale up to reach a village and find the Futamata Castle - Storehouse Shrine [Nioh 3 Map]
      • Enter the house on the right of the shrine and destroy the divider to open a path. This will lead you to a small chest where you can acquire a few items.
    • Continue scaling forward until you reach a Ninja Yoki and an archer above you. Defeat them and head east. You'll then ascend to the western path. This will lead you to the archer next to a corpse that will grant you a x1 Ninja's Locks [Nioh 3 Map]
    • Scale up the area using the west path to reach the Futamata Castle - Koguchi Junction Shrine. [Nioh 3 Map]
    • Climb up the steps to Futamata Castle.
      • At the top, use the staircase on the left and the wooden platform to get to the other side of the barn. Inside the broken barn will be a Kodama hiding in the corner. [Nioh 3 Map]
      • Make your way to the staircase on the otherside to find a Kappa next to a corpse.
      • Jump to the rooftop of the barn again to find another Kodama. [Nioh 3 Map]
      • Across the barn will be a stable. Destroy the fourth door to find a corpse that will provide you with x1 Samurai's Locks. [Nioh 3 Map]
      • Head behind the stable to find a large chest where you can acquire the Secret Skills Text: Wrathful Dragon [Nioh 3 Map]
      • Head north from the stable to reach more barricades. In the northeast area will be a corpse where you can acquire another x1 Samurai's Locks. [Nioh 3 Map]
      • Head west from the corpse to enter a house. Inside the middle room will be a large chest where a Mujina will appear. Defeat the Mujina to acquire the Secret Skills Text: Purify Yokai Realm: Spirit. [Nioh 3 Map]
      • Head to the next room, and there will be a Nurikabe on the right. [Nioh 3 Map]
      • Move to the left to find a fence in the corner. Jump on the stacks of hay on the ground to reach a higher platform and find an x1 Samurai's Locks. [Nioh 3 Map]
      • From the elevated platform, move to the opposite direction, and on the left wall of the corner across the staircase will be a pathway that will lead you to a Hot Springs [Nioh 3 Map].
      • Head upwards after the Hot Spring to reach the Futamata Castle - Defensive Gate Shrine. [Nioh 3 Map]
    • Past the Defensive Gate Shrine, you'll find a platform on the left with a chest in the corner. Opening the chest will grant players the Secret Skills Text: Versatility. To reach this area, head east from the entrance door to find a slope.
    • Across the elevated platform will be a well in the corner. Directly east of the well will be a corpse where you can find an x1 Ninja's Locks. [Nioh 3 Map]
    • Head northeast of Futamata Castle to encounter a Crucible Wraith Skeleton Warrior. Defeating the Crucible Wraith will reward you with the Skeleton Warrior Soul Core. [Nioh 3 Map]
    • Head inside the Futamata Castle to fight Baba Nobuharu and progress the quest:  The Battle of Futamata Castle. [Nioh 3 Map]

Corpses that you can loot can be found at the following locations while exploring Futamata.

  • A corpse can be seen inside a small house at the enemy settlement, north of the Tealeaf Village Shrine.
  • You'll find a corpse near a well at the enemy settlement. Getting near this corpse will summon a Skeleton Warrior.
  • Two corpses can be found inside an outshed after climbing to the top from the enemy settlement. The Corpse on the right will grant you the Secret Skills Text: The More the Merrier.
  • In a broken staircase near the outshed will be a corpse where players can acquire the Abandoned Shrine Key.
  • Two corpses next to each other can be seen inside the Abandoned Shrine, where you fought the Kyokotsu.
  • A corpse can be found in the middle of the path leading back to Futamata Road in western Futamata.
  • A corpse can be seen by the edge of the river.
  • You'll find a corpse across a watchtower in the Futamata Dark Realm.
  • There will be a corpse in the middle of the field next to the burning rubble.
  • Next to a house by the castle town shrine will be two corpses next to each other.
  • Past the small bridge from the Dark Realm is a corpse in front of a watchtower.
  • Another corpse can be seen under the same watchtower.

 Corpses that you can loot can be found at the following locations while exploring Futamata Castle.

  • East of the Futamata Castle - Riverside Shrine, there will be a corpse in front of an ascending slope and a field of plants.
  • In the corner by the field of plants will be another corpse you can interact with.
  • You'll find a corpse next to a barricade from the archer's watchtower.
  • There's a corpse you can find hanging by the edge just before you reach the watchtower.
  • A corpse can be seen in a corner just before a ladder in the castle's outskirts.
  • Past the ladder, below, there will be another corpse near a barricade. 
  • Behind the barricades, there will be a wooden platform by the edge of the cliff. On top of the platform will be another corpse.
  • You'll find a corpse in the middle of the trenches.
  • Past the rolling boulder is a pathway on the left that will lead you to a corpse behind bamboo poles.
  • Past the trench, there will be a corpse hanging by a wooden bridge.
  • You'll find a corpse after dropping down from the wooden bridge and kicking down the explosive barrel.
  • Past the wooden bridge, there will be a corpse in the middle of the village.
  • Climb the watchtower in the upper village to find a corpse by the connecting platform.
  • You'll find a corpse in a corner atop a roof. This can be reached by going through a hidden area accessible from the house on the right of the shrine.
  • There will be a corpse in the middle of the path, where three rolling boulders will fall.
  • There will be a corpse just before the gate of the Futamata Castle - Storehouse Shrine.
  • You'll find a corpse leaning against a well just before the boss: Anayama Nobutada
  • A corpse can be seen leaning on a house on the upper grounds from the Koguchi Junction Shrine, next to a staircase.
  • A corpse can be seen behind the house past the Nurikabe.
  • East of the well outside the Futamata Castle will be a corpse.
  • From the Defensive Gate Shrine, head east to find a corpse in the middle of the path.
