The Nioh 3 Mikatagahara Notes & Tips
Starting from the south entrance of Mikatagahara
- From the Otsuri bridge, progress north until you see a staircase and a giant log adjacent to each other. Below the connecting log will be a Kappa.
- Head back up and use the logs to reach a Six Jizo Site. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Head further north and climb the large stairs in the middle. At the top, next to a giant statue, will be a Scampuss. Completing this challenge will grant you a Yokai Teardrop and an x1 Samurai's Locks. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Return to the top of the stairs and head inside. You'll then have to clear an Enemy Base with 6 enemies to progress. [Nioh 3 Map]
- After entering the enemy base, trace the left wall until you find a small space with a corpse nearby. From there, look up to find a Chijiko floating in the air. Shooting the Chijiko will grant you x1 Samurai's Locks and unlock the Transformed Art: Retrograde Flow. [Nioh 3 Map]
- In the middle of the Enemy Base, across a staircase, will be two Jailer Onis, one of which will drop the Smithing Text: Crucible Sasumata. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Destroy the Yokai Source at the enemy base to unlock a large chest east of the source and acquire several pieces of equipment.
- Progress further until you find the Stone Buddha Path Shrine and a sealed gate next to it.[Nioh 3 Map]
- Initially, players will not be able to unseal the gate. This will automatically unlock during the mission: The Battle of Mikatagahara.
- Continue heading east to find a corpse next to a slanted tree. Interacting with the corpse will grant you x1 Samurai's Locks. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Trace the left rocky wall to find a platform leading you to elevated grounds.
- Follow the elevated route until you reach a wooden platform. In a corner of the platform will be a Kodama. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Continuing further east will lead you to Hamamatsu Hill.
Exploring Mikatagahara during the quest: The Battle of Mikatagahara:
- Start from the Stone Buddha Path Shrine and head to the gate. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Head west and drop down to the rocky platforms. Just before you reach a Spirit Vein, look to the left corner to find a Kappa.
- Exit the area and head to the Spirit Vein. Players will need to use the Guardian Spirit Enko to traverse the Spirit Vein. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Traversing the Spirit Vein will let you reach the Sudama in Mikatagahara. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Players will be able to purchase multiple items, as well as the Secret Skills Text: Invigorating Arts, Craft Guide: Smoke Ball, Craft Guide: Arrowproof Amulet. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Head back up and continue progressing through Mikatagahara. You'll enter a cutscene and start off near the Mikatagahara - Tokugawa Camp Shrine. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Continue progressing until you reach the Takeda Camp. On the left side entrance of the camp, enter the first house to find a lockbox containing an x1 Warrior's Text. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Push through the camp to reach an area new area with a One-eyed Oni throwing rocks at you.
- Head to the house on the right to enter a crawlspace and reach a Kodama. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Head inside a house near the burning stables to find a Kappa and a large chest. Opening the large chest will grant players an x1 Ninja's Locks. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Make your way past the burning settlement to reach the Mikatagahara - Kikyo Bellflower Fortress Shrine. [Nioh 3 Map]
- East of the Bellflower Fortress Shrine will be a stacked boulder. Climb to the top to find a Kodama. [Nioh 3 Map]
- In the northeast section of the Takeda Camp, behind the One-eyed Oni will be a lockbox containing an x1 Samurai's Locks [Nioh 3 Map]
- Head into the gate to fight the Boss: Yamagata Masakage. [Nioh 3 Map]
Mikatagahara Crucible:
- Upon entering the Crucible, you'll come across a Bodhisattva Statue.
- Continue progressing and defeating the enemies ahead. You'll eventually reach a broken-down rooftop you can use as a slope. Follow the eastern path to reach another Bodhisattva Statue.
- Once you've unlocked the shrine, head back and follow the northern path from the rooftop to find another burning house.
- Past the burning house will be an area where you will meet with Nakane Masateru and give you a Power Pill. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Climb the platform across the watchtower. At the top, you'll see another broken-down rooftop. West of the roof is a corpse that will provide you with the Secret Skills Text: Resilient Arts. [Nioh 3 Map]
- From the roof, make your way to the next house past some platforms. Use the staircase to reach the top and head to a ledge with two corpses. One of the corpses will grant you an x1 Ninja's Locks. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Head back to the building and use the large wooden bridge to reach the next shrine. Near the shrine will be Honda Tadakatsu standing in a corner. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Navigate to the western path and then head east. You'll find an entrance with multiple banners in front. At the end of this path, you'll meet with Sakakibara Yasumasa. After the conversation, he will give you a Daion-Jin's Sake. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Climb up the boulders behind Sakakabira to find a Hot Spring at the top. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Head outside and now move to the opposite path. You'll reach an area with a One-eyed Oni hurling boulders at you. Once you reach the barricade with a corpse in front, head west. (Most of the area will be inaccessible due to the One-eyed Oni; players will need to eliminate the yokai first to roam the area freely.)
- At the western path, you'll come across white flames near a lamp post. Cross the platforms on the left side of the white flames and continue to the end of the path to reach a rooftop. At the top, you will encounter a Crucible Wraith Oni-Bi. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Return to the white flame and lamp post area. You'll notice that the white flames earlier have now dissipated. Follow that path to find a Crucible Wraith Aberrant Soldier. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Return and use the large wooden bridge by the lamp post to reach the One-eyed Oni.
- Upon defeating the One-eyed Oni, white flames will dissipate. You can now head down to the inaccessible area earlier.
- Near a barricade, by the edge of a cliff, will be a platform that will lead you to a lower area with a corpse guarded by a Jailer Oni. Interacting with the corpse will grant you the Secret Skills Text: Fatal Fists. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Make your way past the One-eyed Oni's area and progress forward until you reach a Kyokotsu. There will be two corpses atop a boulder. Near the corpses will be the entrance to the Boss: Kosaka Masanobu. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Defeating Kosaka Masanobu will grant you the Smithing Text: Retreat Master's Armor and the Handbook: Reverse Impact. [Nioh 3 Map]
- In the same area, you'll also be able to meet Sakai Tadatsugu. Once the conversation is over, he'll hand you a Healing Pill. [Nioh 3 Map]
- After defeating the boss, past his tent, drop down to locate two corpses. The corpse in the corner will grant you the Secret Skills Text: Weight Bearer [Nioh 3 Map]
- Afterwards, instead of climbing back up, enter the path next to the staircase. There will be a Nurikabe you can easily eliminate. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Return to the tent and climb up the stone boulders to reach the Mikatagahara Nearaimatsu Bodhisattva Statue. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Past the bridge will be the Boss: Takeda Shingen [Nioh 3 Map]
- Defeating Takeda Shingen will complete the A Fiery Invasion Quest and will reward you with a Samurai's Locks, Smithing Text: Basket Blade & Boar Cutter,Smithing Text: Potsticker Spear.
- You'll also be able to pick up the Smithing Text: Kanemitsu Switchglaive and , which can be used for the quest Depicting the Tiger of Kai. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Speak with Ii Naotora to progress the quest The Battle of Mikatagahara.
Saigagake:
- Upon entering Saigagake, you'll first encounter the Saigagake - Bridge Shrine. [Nioh 3 Map]
- From the broken bridge, head west and drop down the cliff to find a Kodama. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Make your way to a broken bridge below the starting area and progress forward. Just before you reach another bridge, navigate to the west to find a Kappa.
- Continue progressing and climb the ladder at the end of the right cliffside path.
- At the top, you'll find a Kappa next to a ladder.
- In the sunken area, you'll find a Crucible Wraith Magatsu Warrior beneath the wooden scaffolding.
- Drop down to the sunken area to find two corpses. The corpse in the eastern corner will grant you an x1 Ninja's Text.
- Just before you scale Saigagake using a staircase in a corner, there will be a small shrine where you can obtain a Red Spider Lily.
Scaffold Platforming Puzzle Quick Guide in Saigagake:
- From the small shrine, climb up the staircase. There will be a corpse in the west corner of the platform.
- Continue by moving to the corner of the platform to ascend to the next level until you reach the Saigagake - Main Hall Shrine. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Drop the ladder down next to the shrine to make it easier to travel back to the shrine.
- Across the shrine, there will be a platform you can use to reach a Kodama. [Nioh 3 Map]
- After guiding the Kodama, make your way to the platform beside the shrine to head outside the scaffolding.
- Progress forward until you see a gap you'll need to jump onto. Drop down from the gap to reach a rooftop. Search the rooftop to find the Kodama [Nioh 3 Map]
- Climb back up the gap and cross it.
- There will be a leaning corpse nearby where you can acquire a Lantern Plant Fruit.
- There will be a broken bridge nearby with a corpse in the middle.
- In front of a broken shed is a corpse
- In front of a broken shed is a large chest. Opening the large chest will summon a Mujina. Get rid of the Mujina to acquire a Small Spirit Stone and the Secret Skills Text: Illusory Dragon. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Head back to the scaffolding area using the path on the left.
- You'll find two pathways once you're back at the scaffolding area.
- Jump to the right wooden platform, above the shrine, to reach a corpse that will grant you a Large Spirit Stone.
- Return and enter the cavern on the left. Inside, you'll find a cropse containing another Large Spirit Stone.
- Outside the short cavern, you'll return to the scaffolding area. Drop down to the right platform. Across the platform will be a small chest containing equipment and gear.
- Climb back up using the wooden platform until you reach another cave entrance illuminated by a hanging lamp.
- Move to the right side of the cavern and follow the path until you reach the corpse. Players will be able to acquire a Prayer Bead from this corpse.
- From the same platform, look below to find another corpse.
- You can now then head inside the illuminated cavern earlier. This will lead you to the next shrine Saigagake - Rear Approach Shrine [Nioh 3 Map]
Past the Saigagake - Rear Approach Shrine
- Make your way past the Rear Approach Shrine, and you'll encounter a Yagyo Soldier Crucible Wraith. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Open the gate behind and head to the end of the path.
- Defeat the Kyokotsu to acquire the Takeda Sake Bottle in the corner. [Nioh 3 Map]
- The Takeda Sake Bottle is a quest item to be given to the ghost during the mission Depicting the Tiger of Kai.
- Defeat the Kyokotsu to acquire the Takeda Sake Bottle in the corner. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Just before you enter the final area, head to the left area. Get rid of the enemies to find a Kodama on the corner. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Once you've guided the Kodama, head outside the area and move to the opposite corner. There will be a Nurikabe by the wall. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Get rid of the Nurikabe to find a Hot Spring. [Nioh 3 Map]
- There will also be a small chest in the corner where you can acquire an x1 Samurai's Locks. [Nioh 3 Map]
- Head to the Boss area to face Takeda Shingen the second time.
- Defeating Takeda Shingen will complete the quest Tiger's Cause and unlock the Guardian Spirit: Kongojishi (Samurai) / Kongojishi (Ninja).
- Players will also be rewarded with a Samurai's Locks and x2 Samurai's Text.
- Two more sub-missions will also be unlocked: Takeda's Four Heavenly Kings and Groans in the Valley.
Corpses that you can loot can be found while exploring Mikatagahara:
- There is a corpse on the left at the end of the Otsuri Bridge.
- You'll find a corpse next to a tree with a yellow ribbon. The corpse is guarded by two Crucible Wasps.
- A corpse can be seen on a platform that can be accessed through a giant log.
- East of the Six Jizo site will be a corpse by the corner.
- There is a corpse on the left side of the giant stone staircase.
- After entering the enemy base, trace the left wall until you find a corner with a corpse.
- Inside the Enemy Base, next to a tree, across a staircase, will be a corpse.
- Inside the Enemy Base, west of the Dark Realm Yokai source, will be a corpse in a corner.
- Past the enemy base, there will be two separate corpses next to idle soldiers.
- Climb the cliff to find a corpse at the top by the edge, where you can get a Dung Ball.
- Past the Stone Buddha Path shrine will be two pathways, both of which will have a corpse.
- The first one will be atop a stone platform.
- The second corpse will be on the lower ground guarded by a Jailer Oni and a Skeleton Warrior.
- East of the Stone Buddha Path shrine will be a corpse that will grant you a x1 Samurai's Locks near a slanted tree.
- Opposite of the slanted tree will be a broken-down tree. Next to it will be another corpse.
- Below a Kodama, southeast of the Stone Buddha Path Shrine, will be a corpse leaning on stacks of hay.
Corpses that can be found during the Mission: The Battle of Mikatagahara at the Northern sector of Mikatagahara:
- After opening the gate next to the Stone Buddha Path, you'll find a corpse directly on the left side of the entrance.
- Head west to find a corpse in the middle of a bridge.
- Next to the Mikatagahara - Tokugawa Camp Shrine is a house where you can find a corpse in a corner.
- Keep heading straight from the Tokugawa Camp Shrine, and you'll eventually reach a burning house. Atop the house will be a corpse.
- Past the burning house, in the middle of the road, will be a corpse where you can acquire a Large Spirit Stone.
- There will be a corpse next to a burning house guarded by a Yagyo Soldier.
- In the area with the One-Eyed Oni throwing rocks at you, navigate to the left side of the area to find a well and a burning house. Climb to the rooftop of the house to find two corpses.
- At the bottom, head behind the burning building to locate another corpse.
- Atop an elevated ground will be a corpse next to an Aberrant Soldier and a red barrel.
- Climb up the roof of the house next to a burning stable and make your way through the other houses using a wooden bridge. By the last makeshift bridge, there will be a corpse.
- Progress past the burning settlement to find a gauntlet area filled with soldiers. There will be a corpse in the middle of the arena.
- East of the Bellflower Fortress Shrine are stacked boulders next to a corpse.
- You'll find a corpse on the left just before you enter the boss's arena: Yamagata Masakage.
Corpses that you can loot inside the Mikatagahara Crucible:
- Upon entering the Mikatagahara Crucible, head west from the nearby Bodhisattva Statue to find a corpse.
- Across the first corpse, near the flowing lava, will be another corpse.
- Continue ahead until you reach a rooftop on the ground. Head to the left corner and drop down to find a corpse.
- Enter the north path past the rooftop to find a corpse, where you can acquire a Fire Amulet on the right.
- Further ahead are layered boulders. Climb to the top to find a corpse
- After meeting with Nakane Masateru, climb up the fiery boulders across the watchtower. At the top will be a broken-down rooftop with a corpse in the middle.
- West of the roof will be another corpse, where you can acquire the Secret Skills Text: Resilient Arts.
- Head to the next burning house, east of the roof. From the staircase, jump over the house to reach a corpse.
- Return back up and head to the wooden bridge. Just before you reach the next shrine, navigate to the right to find a corner you can jump over to reach another house. After jumping, there will be a corpse that will provide you with a Noble Dung Ball and a Fireproof Amulet.
- Past the shrine, in the One-eyed Oni area, there will be a corpse in front of a barricade. You'll need to defeat the One-eyed Oni first to interact with this corpse easily.
- Head west until you reach white flames from the barricade and cross over the platforms next to it. You'll then have to make your way to the end of the path until you reach a rooftop. There will be a corpse next to a Crucible Wraith Oni-Bi.
- Return to the white flame and lamp post area, and you'll see that the flames have dissipated. Follow that path to reach a corpse next to the Crucible Wraith Aberrant Soldier.
- After defeating the Crucible Wraith Aberrant Soldier, use the large wooden bridge to reach the One-eyed Oni earlier.
- Defeat the One-eyed Oni to access the areas behind the white flames. Look to the left to find platforms that will lead you to a corpse.
- On the right, you can head down to reach the inaccessible corpse earlier. You'll be able to see platforms leading you to a lower area guarded by a Jailer Oni. Behind the yokai will be a corpse that will grant you the Secret Skills Text: Fatal Fists.
- Progress forward using the large wooden bridge until you reach a Kyokotsu. Next to the Yokai will be two corpses atop a boulder.
- Past the corpses will be a tent with the Boss, Kosaka Masanobu, inside. Defeat him and make your way past his tent; there will be a corpse at the bottom. Players can drop down to reach this corpse.
- There will be another corpse at a platform nearby. Interacting with this corpse will grant you the Secret Skills Text: Weight Bearer.
Corpses that you can loot inside Saigagake:
- Below the starting area of Saigagake, make your way down to find a broken bridge. In a corner just before the bridge will be a corpse.
- Past the broken bridge, head left to find a corpse near the edge of the cliff.
- Climb up another platform to reach another corpse nearby.
- Just before you traverse the next bridge, head underneath it using a rocky pathway on the right to reach a corpse.
- After crossing the bridge, there will be another corpse on its right, next to some trees.
- Next to the ladder, past the bridge, will be a small area at the right with a corpse guarded by a Gaki.
- Climb up the ladder to find a corpse on a wooden platform.
- Head back down and move to the right edge of the area. Make your way to the end of the cliffside path to find another corpse.
- Climb up the ladder nearby and make your way to the left wooden platform. There will be a corpse hanging by the end.

- Make your way past the Rear Approach Shrine, and there will be a Crucible Wraith Yagyo Soldier. Next to a well by the tree, there will be a corpse.
- You'll find a corpse inside the gate behind the Crucible Wraith Yagyo Soldier.
