Otoroshi Fight Strategy
Otoroshi is a long furred boss that starts the fight without functioning legs. In this phase, it drags itself across the ground using its massive arms and focuses on wide swings and heavy slams. Once its health reaches around 75%, it enters the 2nd phase, where it stands up and becomes much faster. In this phase, it has bird like legs and adds kicks, stomps, and new ice based attacks to its moveset.
One of its early attacks is the Double Swipe, where Otoroshi pulls back one arm and swings sideways, then follows up with another wide swing. When you see the arm being pulled back, immediately back away or use your guard to avoid both hits.
Another slow but dangerous move is the Ground Slam, where Otoroshi raises both arms and slams the ground, creating an area of effect. Once you see the boss rise up with both arms raised, back away to avoid the impact.
The boss also uses Ice Projectiles, which starts with the same motion as the ground slam. After the slam, ice spikes fall from above toward your position. Get away from the boss and keep running to one side until the ice projectiles stop.
A very dangerous attack is the Slam and Bite, where Otoroshi runs toward you and slams the ground, then bites and flails you if it connects. Use your dodge as the boss approaches and avoid getting caught, since this attack deals massive damage.
Another attack is the Vanish Slam, where Otoroshi disappears into black shadows and then reappears above you to slam down with both arms. Once the boss vanishes, keep moving until it appears, then immediately dodge away.
Otoroshi can also use the Clap attack, where it pulls both arms back and performs a massive clap that sends out a shockwave. Dodge before the clap lands to avoid the damage.
The boss also performs Swipe and Slam, where it alternates wide arm swipes and then follows with a ground slam. When you see the arms being pulled back for the slam, back away to avoid the area of effect.
Otoroshi has a Burst Attack where it glows red while pulling its arms back, then finishes with a powerful clap. When you see the red aura surrounding its body, time your Burst Break to repel the attack.
Second Phase
In the 2nd phase, Otoroshi stands upright and becomes faster, adding leg based attacks and ice weapons. One of its new attacks is the Claw Slash, where it slashes at you with both claws. Use your dodge or guard to avoid the hit.
Another attack is the Long Reached Stomp, where Otoroshi raises one leg and lunges forward to stomp. Keep your distance, and once it lunges, dodge to avoid the stomp.
The boss also uses the Double Ice Club Combo, where it vanishes and reappears holding two ice clubs. It slams one club, spins to build momentum, slams the other twice, then finishes with more swings. As soon as the first swing starts, move far away and let the boss finish the combo, then attack while it recovers.
Another attack is the Stomp and Slam, where Otoroshi alternates leg stomps in close range and finishes with a ground slam using both arms. The boss pauses briefly before each stomp, so dodge each one and back away before the final slam.
Otoroshi can also perform the Ice Club Double Slam, where it summons ice clubs and leaps into the air before slamming them down. Once you see the leap, immediately dodge to avoid the impact.
Another ice based move is the Double Ice Club Spin, where Otoroshi summons the clubs and spins twice to hit a wide area. When you see the clubs resting on both sides, back away to avoid the spin.
Finally, the boss uses Corrupted Bats, where it screams and puffs its chest, releasing bats as a long ranged attack. While the bats are active, move behind the boss and deal damage safely.
Otoroshi Attacks & Counters
Double Swipe
The Otoroshi pulls back one of its arms and swings at you in a wide motion sideways. It does this twice to try to hit you.Upon seeing the boss pull back one of its arms, immediately back away or use your guard abilities.
Ground Slam
The Otoroshi rises with both arms raised and slams the ground to hit you. The attack is slow, so once you see the boss rise up, immediately back away to avoid the area of effect.
Ice Projectiles
The otoroshi does the same animation as the Ground slam, but in addition to the slam, it summons ice crystals from above that act as spikes headed toward your position. Get away from the boss and keep running to a certain side until the ice projectiles run out.
Slam and Bite
The Otoroshi runs toward you to slam the ground in your position, then once you bounce off the ground, it bites and flails you around, eventually spitting you out. Use your dodge ability when the boss approaches you, and avoid getting caught by the bite. This is a heavy attack that can deal a massive amount of damage to you if caught.
Vanish Slam
The Otoroshi vanishes in black shadows, then appears from above you to slam you with both arms. Once you see the boss vanish, continuously move around and wait for it to appear. Once it appears, immediately dodge away.
Clap
The Otoroshi pulls back both arms on each side, then does a massive clap that sends out a shockwave. Use your dodge abilities before the clap makes impact.
Swipe and Slam
The Otoroshi pulls back bioth arms alternately and swings at you in a wide motion sideways. It then follows up with a Ground Slam, which makes both arms rise, and slam the ground to hit you. The attack is slow, so once you see the boss rise, immediately back away to avoid the area of effect.
Burst Attack
Otoroshi glows red when it pulls back its arms, then finishes the attack with a massive clap. When Otoroshi is about to use this attack, his body will be surrounded by a red aura. You can always repel this attack as long as you perfectly time your Burst Break ability.
Claw Slash (2nd Phase)
Otoroshi stands on two feet and slashes you with both claws. Use your dodge ability or parry the attack to avoid getting hit
Long Reached Stomp (2nd Phase)
Otoroshi raises one of its legs, aiming at you, then lunges forward to stomp on you. Keep your distance, and once you see the boss lunge forward, immediately use your dodge abilities.
Double Ice Club Combo (2nd Phase)
Otoroshi vanishes, then appears again with 2 ice clups on its hands. It starts off by slamming one club to the ground, then spins to get momentum for the other club and hits the ground twice with it. It follows up with a double slam with the clubs, then swipes it to the other side to hit you. This may look like an overwhelming attack, but all you have to do is get away from the boss when it does the first swing. It continues to execute the other swings even though you are not in its attack range. Let him finish the attack, then go in with your own attacks.
Stomp and Slam (2nd Phase)
Otoroshi raises each leg to stomp at you alternately in close range. It then follows up with a ground slam with both arms to end the attack. The boss pauses for a bit before actually stomping, so dodge each and back away from the slam.
Ice Club Double Slam (2nd Phase)
Otoroshi summons its ice Clubs again, then leaps off the ground to slam it to your position. Once the boss leaps, immediately utilize your dodge ability.
Double Ice Clube spin (2nd Phase)
Otoroshi summons its ice Clubs again, then spins with them twice to hit you on whichever side you are. Upon seeing the boss rest its club on each side, immediately back away to avoid the spin area.
Corrupted Bats (2nd Phase)
Otoroshi screams and puffs its chest out, which releases multiple corrupted bats that act as a long-ranged attack. Get behind the boss to deal damage while the attack is happening.

Honestly, I found him to be one of the better bosses. Easy enough once you have the rhythm and timings down.
You want to dodge under his swipes in phase 1, and under his feet during the jumping attack in phase 2. He's also super vulnerable to Winded, which is easy to proc with Wind Familiar. Also easy to poison with Nure-onna summon, since he doesn't move around much.
I recommend Low Stance against him. Ki management is key here, all of his attacks are easy to dodge or block but he hits hard and his moves have a very short wind up with a very long end lag. You want to avoid his attack, hit the punish window, and then be ready for the next attack. The last thing you want is to be caught mid-combo when he goes for his next strike.
