Nioh 3 Hino-Enma Boss Guide

Hino-Enma Fight Strategy

Hino-Enma is a humanoid creature who is believed to be the most beautiful creature during her era. A lot of men are known to be attracted to her beauty. She is also believed to have the characteristics of a spider and has the ability to fly.

Hino-Enma uses different types of attacks during combat. One of her attacks is when she thrusts towards your position. This is also one of her Burst Attacks. You can counter or repel this attack by perfectly timing your Burst Break ability. Once you have successfully broken Hino-Enma's Burst Attack, you will break her stance, which you can use as a window of opportunity to attack her with your most powerful combos and inflict maximum damage to her health.

Another type of Burst Attack that Hino-Enma has is using her Wagasa (Umbrella). She will spin once and will try to poke you using her umbrella. This type of attack is also a Burst Attack. To repel or break this attack, it is highly recommended that you time your Burst Break ability once Hino-Enma poses for this attack. Upon successfully repelling this Burst Attack of hers, you will break her stance, which will give you more time to attack and do a significant amount of damage to her health.

Aside from Burst Attack, where Hino-Enma uses her Umbrella, she can also use it as a spinning umbrella. As she tries to poke you with her umbrella, it can also spin at the same time. This attack is not very powerful, but you must still be very careful when Hino-Enma uses this attack. When you guarded and avoided this attack, rush towards Hino-Enma and use your powerful combos and hit her several times, to at least inflict some damage to her health.

Hino-Enma will also utilize the use of her hands and feet to attack you. She will try to smack you with her hand and follow it up with a powerful kick attack. These attacks are guardable, so you might want to utilize your guarding ability during this attack.

When Hino-Enma flies into the air, she will throw three pointed sticks towards your position with a very quick motion, and she can also perform this attack even if she is not airborne. Hino-Enma tends to throw these pointed sticks up to three times. If she was able to hit you with these pointed sticks, you would be inflicted with Life Corrosion, reducing your maximum health. To avoid getting hit by these pointed sticks, watch Hino-Enma's movements when she is about to throw the sticks. A purple light will start to appear on her wings, which will be your indicator that she is about to throw these pointed sticks towards your position. Use that as your warning to quickly move from your current position.

Another form of thrust attack that Hino-Enma uses is when she flies into the air, and she will quickly rush towards your position and will smack you into the ground using her bare hands. This attack can be very dangerous if you are unable to avoid it. Before she performs this attack, she will move backwards before lunging towards your position. You can use that as your warning to roll your way out of the direction of her attack.

Another type of umbrella attack that Hino-Enma has is by using it to perform a sword-like attack. Hino-Enma will swing his umbrella three times. You can guard this attack and not take any damage at all.

Hino-Enma can also copy one of the attacks of Kamaitachi (one of the Formidable Bosses), wherein she is somehow able to summon Kamaitachi and use his spinning blade ability to attack and lunge towards your position. She will jump a very short distance before performing this attack. Use that as your warning to move sideways and avoid getting hit by this attack, as this attack can also cause serious damage to your health.

When Hino-Enma returns to the air, she can also summon multiple silver spheres and use them as projectiles to attack you. When she is about to use this type of attack, you will notice that heart-shaped objects start to appear around her, which you can also use as a warning to get away from her. Aside from the spherical projectiles, Hino-Enma also has another type of projectile attack, in which she quickly releases a ball of redish projectile towards your position. This attack is not very powerful, but you still need to take precautions.

Aside from the spinning umbrella attack, Hino-Enma has another form of attack, which involves the use of her umbrella. She will begin by quickly charging her umbrella, afterwards, her umbrella will be covered with an energy that glows in red. She will use this as a type of range attack, and if you are caught by this attack, you will be inflicted with Life Corrosion, which reduces your maximum health.

Hino-Enma also has another type of projectile in the form of spheres. She can also summon two red spheres and use them to attack you. These red spheres will actually follow your movement, so make sure that you outrun them so you can avoid taking damage from these spheres.

Second Encounter

There will be a 2nd encounter with Hino-Enma during the mission, "Drawn to Yokai Incense". She has no additional movements and still uses the same attacks she did when you encountered her the first time as a boss.

Hino-Enma Attacks & Counters

Flying Burst Attack

One of Hino-Enma's Burst Attacks is thrusting towards your position while she is airborne. She will quickly rush towards your position to attack you. This first Burst Attack is repellable by perfectly timing your Burst Break ability. When you successfully break this Burst Attack, you will break Hino-Enma's stance, and you will have ample time to attack her using your powerful combos and inflict maximum damage to her health.

Wagasa Burst Attack

Aside from Flying Burst Attack, Hino-Enma can also use her umbrella to perform another Burst Attack. She will begin by spinning once, and afterwards, she will poke you with her umbrella. Since this is also a type of Burst Attack, you can repel this by using your Burst Break ability. After you successfully repelled this attack, Hino-Enma's stance should be broken, which you can use as your advantage to attack her with your powerful combos.

Smack and Kick Attack

Hino-Enma can also perform several attacks by just using her bare hands and feet. She will begin by trying to smack you with her hand and a powerful kick as a follow-through. You can use your guard to avoid getting damage from these attacks.

Spinning Umbrella Attack

Another type of attack that Hino-Enma performs is to use her umbrella as a spinning attack. When Hino-Enma tries to poke you with her umbrella, she can also spin it to attack you, which acts as a mid-range attack. This attack is not that powerful, however, you still need to take caution when she uses this attack, as she can immediately follow it up with one of her powerful attacks.

Throw Attack

Hino-Enma can also perform a throw-type attack, wherein she will throw three pointed sticks towards your position, and these sticks move in a very quick manner. Once you are caught by this attack, you will be affected by Life Corrosion, which reduces your maximum health. Before Hino-Enma uses this attack, you will notice that a purple light appears on her wings. Use that as your warning and advantage to avoid getting hit by this attack.

Lunging Attack

When Hino-Enma returns airborne, she can perform another type of thrust attack, in which she will rush towards your position and will smack you to the ground by just using her hands. Your warning that she is about to use this attack is when she moves backwards. Once you see her move backwards, roll sideways to avoid getting hit by this lunging attack.

Sword-like Attack

Hino-Enma can also use her umbrella to perform a sword-like attack. She will swing her umbrella up to three times. Guarding against this attack is possible, and you will not take any damage.

Kamaitachi Attack

Hino-Enma can summon and replicate one of Kamaitachi's attacks. She will start by jumping forward, and afterwards, she will immediately summon Kamaitachi using his spinning blade ability to attack and lunge towards your position. To avoid getting hit by this attack, watch Hino-Enma's movements. When she started to jump forward (short jump), use that as your warning to move sideways and avoid getting hit by this Kamaitachi's spinning blade attack.

Projectile Attacks

Hino-Enma not only uses weapons for attacking, but she can also summon multiple spheres and spread them around her, and attack you. You will notice that some heart-shaped objects start to appear around her, which should be your indication that she is about to summon these projectiles. Get away as quickly as possible from Hino-Enma to avoid getting hit by these spheres.

Glowing Umbrella Attack

Another form of Umbrella Attack that Hino-Enma can use is by charging it with red energy. Hino-Enma begins by quickly charging her umbrella, and once her umbrella is fully charged, she will use it as a ranged weapon so she can attack you from a great distance. If you are caught by this attack, you will be inflicted with Life Corrosion that reduces your maximum health. When Hino-Enma is about to strike you with her umbrella, move sideways to avoid getting hit by this attack.

Glowing Red Sphere Projectiles

Hino-Enma also summons two red spheres, which will follow your movement. These red spheres are very deadly and can inflict a good amount of damage to your health. To avoid getting hit by these red spheres, make sure to outrun them until they disappear. Once these red spheres disappear, rush towards Hino-Enma and use your most powerful combos to do a significant amount of damage on her health.
