Raider is a Nightfarer in Nightreign, portrayed as a savage warrior who wields a massive double-headed axe and has the ability to summon pillars of stone from the ground. Like all Nightfarers, Raider is a predetermined class that fulfills its own distinct archetype within the game. Choosing a Nightfarer, or Class, is considered the most important decision players make at the start of the game, since it shapes their gameplay and overall style of play from that point on.

  • Patch 1.02.2 increased the Greataxe’s and Great Hammer’s ability to stagger enemies with attacks. Also increased the attack range of the Retaliation skill.

A pirate who sailed to the Lands Between from a nearby waterway. The opportunity to try his hand against the Nightlord proved too glorious of an opportunity to pass up.

Boasting high HP and strength, his poise allows him to stand firm against moderate attacks and flatten opponents with vigorous offensives.

Key Features of Raider in Elden Ring Nightreign

  • Weapon Preference: Greataxes, Great Hammers, Colossal Weapons
  • Raider is not available in the Network Test.
  • In the release trailer, he is seen using shouts as a combat ability and enjoying beverages inside a castle.
  • Raider is a massive nightfarer that hits slow and heavy, ideal for Strength players.
  • Raider is a sea-farer who is resilient and unyielding in battle, doesn't flinch at minor attacks, and rampages through enemies. He represents the embodiment of raw power, built for pure offense, tanking hits and dishing out unrelenting retaliation.

Fighter's Resolve Passive Ability

  • Taking damage boosts Retaliate potency, cannot be knocked down while using it.
  • The effect of this passive skill is to ensure that Raider does not get interrupted or knocked out of the animation of his character skill.
  • Upon taking enough damage, Raider will acquire a unique buff that enhances Retaliate's attack into a much slower and powerful attack.
  • If Raider takes damage that can kill him while using Retaliate, he can withstand the attack and leave him with one HP.

Retaliate Character Skill

  • Assume attack stance and pummel vigorously.
  • Damage taken is reduced when this skill is activated.
  • After the initial animation, Raider will perform a powerful punch that can knock down smaller enemies while staggering or flinching larger targets.
  • After taking damage (when not using the skill) Raider will start steaming, indicating that you can use a stronger version of the character skill

Totem Stela Ultimate Art

  • Drive gravekeeper's wedge into earth to summon a giant tombstone.
  • This ultimate skill is best used to buff your allies by giving them a protective aura and improving their strength.
  • Conjuring the stone near enemies deals very high damage in a spherical area of effect.
  • The tombstone will last 20 seconds.

Raider Best Relics Guide for Nightreign

Recommended Relic Effects for Raider

  • Improved Stance-Breaking when Two-Handing
  • Improved Stance-Breaking when Wielding Two Armaments
  • Taking attacks improves attack power
  • Character Skill Cooldown Reduction
  • Duration of Ultimate Art extended
  • Improved Initial Standard Attack
  • Partial HP Restoration upon Post-Damage Attacks
  • + Poise
  • + Vigor
  • + Strength
  • + Endurance

Raider has a high scaling of HP, Stamina, and also an S in Strength, with a playstyle of wielding heavier weapons and taking hits in the frontlines. Some Relics you should be looking for are Torn Braided Cord, Black Claw Necklace, Night of the Fathom, and Night of the Baron. Click here to see a full build guide for Raider.

The Besmirched Frame Relic is a blue relic that can be purchased from the Small Jar Bazaar after unlocking the Duchess. This relic increases the damage you deal after taking damage, which works wonders with Retaliate or when trading blows in general. The Faith bonus is largely irrelevant to the Raider. This relic can be replaced once you find a better substitute.

The Torn Braided Cord Relic is a blue relic that can be obtained upon completing Raider's first remembrance quest. Check the walkthrough below to see the full guide on completing his remembrance quest. The effects of this relic increase your stamina and attack power when you take damage while performing Retaliate, and also increase in Strength. As Retaliate is designed for you to hyper-armor through an enemy's attack, you will get a lasting attack and stamina buff after successfully pulling it off.

The Black Claw Necklace Relic is a yellow relic that can be obtained upon completing Raider's final remembrance quest. The effects of this relic fill up your art gauge when you defeat an enemy and restore your HP when you defeat an enemy near Totem Stela, encouraging you to use it to clear out groups of small enemies. On top of that, you gain an increase in your Poise to reduce the odds of getting interrupted mid-attack.

The Night of the Fathom Relic is a red relic that can be obtained upon defeating the Augur Night Lord for the first time. This relic's effects increase your HP, and have your teammates share the same effect as you when you consume a flask, or when you use an item. This not only ensures your survivability, but also your teammates' survivability.

The Night of the Baron Relic is a blue relic that can be obtained upon defeating the Gaping Jaw Night Lord for the first time. This relic's effects increase the damage you do from a critical hit, and you have plenty of opportunities for that due to how often you stance-break enemies for a critical hit. After each critical hit, you get a boost to your Ultimate Art Gauge and a faster Stamina regeneration buff, letting you continue swinging and pile on more Stance damage.

You will need to find Relics that have the effects to increase Stats, such as Strength, Vigor, and Endurance to increase and ensure your survivability. "Character Skill Cooldown Reduction" also lets you trigger Retaliate as often as possible, and if you're using it very often, "Taking attacks improves attack power" also stacks with "Damage taken while using Character Skill improves attack power and stamina" to dole out devastating blows. "Partial HP Restoration upon Post-Damage Attacks" gives you consistent HP recovery whenever you're trading blows (but bear in mind it won't work for Retaliate). "Improved Initial Standard Attack" also strengthens the first R1 and works well with the slower pace of attacking with colossal weapons. Improved Stance Breaking improves the odds at which you get stance breaks, and whether you seek "Two-Handing" or "Wielding Two Armaments" depends on your playstyle. For players making the most of Totem Stela, "Duration of Ultimate Art extended" grants you an extra 10 seconds of uptime.

Best Relics With Fixed Effects for Raider in Elden Ring Nightreign

Grand Drizzly Scene can be purchased at the Small Jar Bazaar for 1000 murk icon nightreign wiki guide. This Relic has a fixed effect, which will provide the following:

  • Improved Poise near Totem Stela
  • Vigor +2
  • Strength +2

This is a general-purpose early-accessed Relic that improves the Raider's ability to dole out damage while poising through enemy attacks.

Grand Tranquil Scene can be purchased at the Small Jar Bazaar for 1000 murk icon nightreign wiki guide. This Relic has a fixed effect, which will provide the following:

  • Partial HP restoration upon Post-Damage attacks
  • Vigor +2
  • Poise +2

This is unlocked after defeating the Night Aspect and seeing the ending once, and improves the Raider's survivability while trading blows, potentially regaining the HP lost when taking an attack.

Grand Luminous Scene can be purchased at the Collector Signboard in the Roundtable Hold for 3 sovereign sigil icon nightreign wiki guide. This Relic has a fixed effect, which will provide the following:

  • [Raider] Duration of Ultimate Art extended
  • Improved Colossal Weapon Attack Power
  • Endurance +3

This can complement the Black Claw Necklace, or serve as a yellow-slot substitute for play styles that are less dependent on fighting around Totem Stela. The boost to Colossal Weapon damage and the Endurance bonus improves overall combat performance, especially with the starting weapon, and the prolonged Totem Stela duration gives you more time to fight under its benefits.

Grand Burning Scene can be purchased at the Collector Signboard in the Roundtable Hold for 3 sovereign sigil icon nightreign wiki guide. This Relic has a fixed effect, which will provide the following:

  • Improved Stance-Breaking when Wielding Two Armaments
  • Stamina recovers with each successful attack
  • Endurance +3

This is for playstyles that favor the powerstance moveset over the Raider's slower Greataxe/Greathammer/Colossal Weapon moveset. The Endurance bonus and Stamina recovery reduces the Stamina cost of a powerstance dual swing, and the improved Stance-breaking can score some easy knockdowns after a few powerstance jump attacks.

Elden Ring Nightreign Raider Notes & Tips

  • Voice Actor: Björn Bengtsson
  • Colossal Weapons, Great Hammers and Greataxes are all weapons that experience the Raider's slower custom moveset. If you find them not to your liking, powerstancing these weapons still grants you the default moveset.
  • If you need a ranged option, Greatbows scale well off his high Strength.
  • Retaliate is great for face-tanking an attack that would be difficult to dodge or otherwise be lethal.
    • If you survive 850 damage, the Raider will begin steaming. Then, the next Retaliate he does has a larger AOE and deals more damage.
  • Seek passive bonuses that improve your stamina regeneration, as each swing from your favored weapons takes a lot of stamina.
  • Totem Stela can occasionally trap large enemies within it, making it difficult for attacks to connect until they free themselves with their own animations. It can also block your teammates' projectiles and obstruct their movement, so be mindful of where you use it.
  • Dormant Powers from forts and great churches have a 65% chance to contain an uncommon class weapon. Dormant powers from encampments and ruins have a 35% chance to contain an uncommon class weapon. Raider's class weapons consist of colossal weapons, great hammers, great axes.

Nightreign Raider Remembrance Quest Walkthrough

How to unlock and start Remembrance Quests in Nightreign

In Nightreign, players can randomly find journal entries related to the corresponding Nightfarer that they are using in an Expedition, which are key components to starting Remembrance Quests. These quests provide a backstory to the eight Nightfarers in the game, with players starting a Remembrance through the Roundtable Hold. When completed, these Remembrances will give rewards to players, such as Relics and Garbs (Skins).

When players are stuck in a part of a Remembrance Quest, or if a journal entry is missing, they may start an Expedition with the Nightfarer that they want to progress the quest. Then, defeat the Nightlord and the players will be able to do the next step of the quest. For more information about Remembrance Quests, players may visit this page.

Raider Remembrance: The Tourney of the Lands Between

Part 1, Raider Remembrance Objectives:

  • Talk to Iron Menial.
  • Touch the monument.
  • Talk to Iron Menial.
  • Travel to the battlegrounds.
  • Fight the Onestrike Gladiator.
  • Talk to Iron Menial

Playing as the Raider, the first step is heading to the "Journal" area at the Roundtable Hold and selecting Chapter 2 of the Raider's Journal to begin reliving his Remembrance. Before that's possible, though, Chapter 2 needs to be unlocked by completing an expedition and defeating a Nightlord while playing as the Raider. Once the chapter starts, players find themselves in the garden area of the Roundtable Hold. From there, approaching the Iron Menial and speaking with him reveals information about a nearby monument. After this conversation, walking up to the monument and touching it triggers a signal, and talking to the Iron Menial again reveals that interacting with the monument has entered the Raider into a tournament called "The Tourney of the Lands Between".

1 raider walkthrough er nightreign wiki guide

Speaking to the Iron Menial once more and asking about the "Tourney Between" opens up the option to interact with the monument again, this time traveling to the tournament's battlegrounds. This interaction kicks off a gameplay section in which players must fight the Onestrike Gladiator. The goal here is to defeat this boss in order to progress the quest and obtain the Torn Braided Cord. After the gladiator is defeated, players are sent back to the monument in the garden of the Roundtable Hold.

2 raider walkthrough er nightreign wiki guide

From there, speaking with the Iron Menial once again and showing him the Torn Braided Cord prompts him to ask the player to touch the monument again, though this time nothing happens. Talking to him once more leads him to suggest trying again later, which wraps up the first part of the Raider's Remembrance. At this point, players can either use the remembrance gateway to conclude the remembrance, or teleport to the journal and select "Conclude remembrance" instead. Finishing this portion of the Raider's Remembrance quest updates his Journal and rewards the player with the Torn Braided Cord relic.

Raider Remembrance: The Blinding Elder Lion

Part 2, Raider Remembrance Objectives:

  • Talk to Iron Menial.
  • Read the Iron Menial's Scrawl.
  • Talk to Iron Menial.
  • Touch the monument.
  • Fight the Blinding Elder Lion.
  • Tall to Iron Menial.

As the Raider, head to the "Journal" area at the Roundtable Hold and select Chapter 4 of the Raider's Journal to continue reliving the second part of his Remembrace. Upon starting, you'll return to the monument in the garden area of the Roundtable Hold. Talk to the Iron Menial to learn about the history of the coastal waters, and you'll receive the Iron Menial's Scrawl. Open your inventory and check the Key Items to find the document. After reading the document, talk to the Iron Menial, and he'll mention that the next opponent in the tournament is ready to face you.

4 raider walkthrough er nightreign wiki guide

When you're ready, touch the monument to travel to the battlegrounds where you'll face the Blinding Elder Lion. Your objective is to defeat this boss to progress the quest. Upon successfully slaying the Blinding Elder Lion, you'll return to the monument in the garden area of the Roundtable Hold. Once again, speak to the Iron Menial to complete the second part of the Raiders' Remembrance. Either use the remembrance gateway to conclude the remembrance or teleport to the journal and choose the option "Conclude remembrance". Completing this section of the Raiders' Remembrance quest updates the Raiders' Journal and rewards the player with the Raider's Chalice.

Raider Remembrance: The Final Match

Part 3, Raider Remembrance Objectives:

  • Talk to Iron Menial.
  • Approach the waves.
  • Fight the White Horn.
  • Talk to the Iron Menial.
  • Touch the monument

As the Raider, head to the "Journal" area at the Roundtable Hold and select Chapter 7 of the Raider's Journal to continue reliving the second part of his Remembrace. Upon starting, you'll return to the monument in the garden area of the Roundtable Hold. Talk to the Iron Menial, and he'll mention that the tournament hasn't started yet, and there will also be no response when you touch the monument. Open the map of the Roundtable Hold, and you'll find a new exclamation mark pinned on the southeast side of the map. Head to the marked area, and an in-game text that says, "Hark, the murmuring of waves...", will appear as you approach the water. A gameplay section will shortly follow, where you'll find yourself in the battlegrounds of the tournament.

7 raider walkthrough er nightreign wiki guide

You'll now start a battle against a boss called the White Horn, and your goal is to defeat this boss to progress the Raider's remembrance quest. Take note that once the HP of this boss drops to about 70-60%, it will transform into an Ulcerated Tree Spirit. Successfully defeating this boss rewards you with the Black Claw Necklace, and you'll be teleported back to the monument in the garden area of the Roundtable Hold.

8 raider walkthrough er nightreign wiki guide

Upon returning to the Roundtable Hold, speak to the Iron Menial, and after talking to him, touch the monument once again to find an inscription carved on it. The inscription reads: Engraved with names of challengers and their records. "The Black Claw defeated the White Horn to achieve victory". "Ye souls felled in battle, be proud of thine exploits". After examining the monument, talk to the Iron Menial and approach the tombstone to offer your respects. This formally concludes the final part of the Raider's Remembrance Quest, and you'll also acquire a new outfit for the raider, Remembrance (Raider).

Now use the remembrance gateway to conclude the remembrance or teleport to the journal and choose the option "Conclude remembrance". Completing the final section of the Raiders' Remembrance quest updates the Raiders' Journal, and you'll also receive the Black Claw Necklace relic.

Elden Ring Nightreign Raider Journal

Raider Journal: Chapter 1

The pirates of the coastal waters love nothing more than a worthy rival.

And thus the Raider made his way to Limveld. The encroaching Nightlord was precisely the challenge he wished for. Or so his intuition told him.

The moment he stepped foot in the Roundtable Hold, he knew that he was right. And when he donned the white-horned helmet, he was certain that he could hear it...

...the gentle murmuring of waves of the coastal waters, that were once so familiar.

Raider Journal: Chapter 2

The Raider removed the helmet and placed it on the floor with a thunk.

The war with the Night was constant, never leaving an idle moment. And yet, he felt oddly unfulfilled.

"Do you feel the same, old friend?"

As he murmured to himself, he patted the white horns of his beloved helmet. They were chiseled and worn, reminders of the countless battles waged heretofore.

There must be someone who'd pour his soul into a battle to the death. A rival fierce enough to make one's blood boil. He was certain that such a warrior could not be far, and perhaps was even quite close. Maybe right here, in the Roundtable Hold...

Raider Journal: Chapter 3

The Tourney of the Lands Between was finished, and once again he found himself peering at his white-horned helmet. It was a good feeling. But he wanted more.

He recalled the words of the Iron Menial.

"The potential to discover a truly worthy opponent. "

For the pirates of the coastal waters, such a rival is more precious than any treasure.

Raider Journal: Chapter 4

Anticipation of battle reminded him of an old memory from his time sailing the coastal waters.

A wave knocked the Raider onto the shore, and his first mate Weathervane called out to him.

"Ah... Are you alive, Cap'n?"

The Raider replied by slamming a fist into his low-worn helmet, causing a gush of blood. But he paid it no mind.

"Never should have asked." Weathervane sighed but at the same time appeared to be scribbling some notes. The Raider took notice, and Weathervane brazenly chuckled.

"I've got front row seats to a duel to the death between two bloody beasts. Figured I could make a fortune if I got the details down."

Raider Journal: Chapter 5

After the Raider finished the Tourney of the Lands Between, the Ironeye asked him a question.

"White Horn and Black Claw, was it? Intriguing Story. But I heard they never settled who'd rule the coastal waters. Why not?"

The assassin of the fellowship had suddenly become quite talkative about naval campaigns.

"Hahah, perhaps we'll never know. But I can say one thing."

With a smile, the Raider slapped his helmet.

"Pirates of the coastal waters never forget a vow to lock horns. We'd rather die than live as cowards!"

Raider Journal: Chapter 6

The Raider waited. For the commencement of the final match of the Tourney of the Lands Between.

But the Iron Menial noticed something amiss with the monument.

"There is no sign of a coming battle. Perhaps something's happened to your challenger?"

But the Raider was patient.

He knew that this was a time to be patient. And moreover, that his opponent was fond of arriving late.

Raider Journal: Chapter 7

The sea breeze reminded him of his memories of the coastal waters.

The Raider sat on the shore where they were arranged to meet. Weathervane pleaded with him.

"Give this one up, Cap'n. He's part of the Night, now."

The Raider peered west, at a sea engulfed by darkness, and punched the white-horned helmet.

"I'll hold on to this for now."

After reminiscing for a moment, he was interrupted by a gentle murmuring of waves. The Raider opened his eyes and gazed silently out at the waters.

He knew where he must go. For when the sea summons them to fight, the call must be answered.

Raider Journal: Chapter 8

The final match was held, bringing the Tourney of the Lands Between to its conclusion.

The Raider gave the White Horn helmet back to its owner, and was Black Claw once again. A gentle wind brushed his cheek. He wondered how Weathervane may have recorded their battle in words.

The pirates of the coastal waters love nothing more than a worthy rival.

But these days, the Raider no longer hears the gentle murmur of the waves. For him, the sea churns no longer.

this comment is referring to base elden ring so feel free to ignore but since comments aren't going through because they shadow nerfed it so you can't do anything without being forced to make an account it shall go here for now: i just hit a fully charged ugs r2 on a basilisk, it makes the stunned/poise break noise but yet still it gets to do its infinite hyperarmor jump immediately after the sound happens, miyazaki brother i am BEGGING for you to retire already good god

      • Anonymous

They gave actual poise to a character and some hefty HP for him, and the game suddenly became trivial

I'm simply convinced FromSoft past DS2 has decided to rely purely on bullshit attacks for bosses with massive combos that take a third of your health per hit, and that you can only take a hit on the boss after 10-20 seconds of constant dodging. So when they added a character that actually poised through hits, most ER bosses got absurdly countered

        • Anonymous

any type of poise buff is actually a nerf for raider, unintuitively it decrease the amount of poise damage taken, rather than increasing your total poise, therefore needing more hits to gain the buffed retaliate skill.

          • Anonymous

From a power level perspective I don't think Raider is that strong, but he is definitely the character I have the most fun with! I'm glad I started with Raider because playing him really helped me get better at my controls. When everything you do is that slow you can not afford to mash and those imputs need to be clean!

            • Anonymous

You think he's weak? Get like 4 to 6 "initial standard atk" a good heavy weapon and few melee atk or two handed atk in depths and suddenly your basic atk that's the easiest thing to land has 1200 on hit

              • Anonymous

Scholar + Duchess + Raider (Each with their questline relic setup) thank me later unless u suck ass at team play.

Raider's Hit With Character Skill to Reduce Enemy Attack Power relic does not seem to work (or at least the debuff icon is not appearing)

I'm getting real tired of trying to use his ult as cover to revive someone behind/on top of and the enemy just doing some overhand attack that phases through the whole thing and hits me anyway.

                    • Anonymous

Dawg, his ult never ceases to make me laugh; it's the fact that he goes RAHHHHHHH, and with the siegmeyer armor, that dude sounds muffled which makes it even funnier, and right after, this GIANT pillar comes out of nowhere and sometimes traps the boss inside of it. I love having games with raiders; you raider mains are the best, except the leavers

                      • Anonymous

I am unreasonably upset that we didn't get a skin that's one of the giant mushroom people from DS1. It fits perfectly.

Most annoying ult in the game, instead they could have made it so when he stabs that thing in the ground 5 shockwaves/earthquakes occur instead of the stupid totem that gets in your way and traps some bosses or loot inside and you have to wait for it to despawn.

                          • My fellow Raider Mains, I encourage you all to try the Dark Night of the Demon, Night of Dregs relic combo in Deep of Night. Get a yellow relic with “[Raider] hit during character skill…”, Partial HP on a deep relic, and poison buildup below max HP, and you’re outputting insane numbers.

the person who said there will always be raider players no matter what because it's a playstyle more than it's a character "the colossal melee playstyle", whoever they are, time proved them correct

they buffed his more committal playstyle which is really nice. its almost never a good idea to face trade with anything but hey, at least its better.

One of the raider buffs gave him a lingering damage boost when he's damaged at or brought to low life which SHOULD be good. The issue is that the devs used the old low life threshold of 20% instead of 40%. Fromsoft managed to make low life builds good for a single patch for the first time in years and then immediately forgot about it lmao. It's better than not existing, but I hope that gets changed...

bro i swear use the relic that give hp negation when low hp it got buffed recently proc at 40% hp and it can stacks,, it will make your raider invisible bro trust me even in higher DoN 3+ and you can make it more broken by stacking more low hp negation buff from weapon

I cannot help it, i always feel stronger and more confident with a big hammer in my hand as opposed to literally any other weapon, it has been this way since DS3 when shield poking became unreliable, now i've tried time and time again to adapt to any other playstyle, i've even tried Ironeye the most, but it's no use, in the end i will always come back crawling for Raider and his gigantic bonks...

my journal says I'm on chapter 6 and the guide doesn't say anything about it, I have the chalice and the letter, I've talked to the Iron Menial and checked the journal but nothing happened, does anyone know what I should do next?

Gotta love his Jumping Duals, aside from Ironeye's status effects bow it's the best way to get through Depth 4 and 5, anytime, completely overwhelms bosses, i recommend putting status effects on his weapons as well, that extra proc to the already colossal damage is never too much

If there are exclusive character relics in DLC, Raider's one should increase Totem Stela size and attack power

use Everdark Caligo relic with deep relic that have curse reduce status resist + take damage got frost build up.

Invisible when use Retaliate , sound cool right ?

It has been a while since there has been a genuinely positive comment in this page complimenting Raider for his greatness instead of repeating "bad ult" or "retaliate bad in DoN" or "unique moveset bad" for the millionth time cuz apparently the loudest players are the ones who dont have the braincells to cope with the surface-level mild struggles so let me lay out the positives here:

1- Colossal Weapons do the highest damage per hit, and they do their highest damage when being wielded by Raider, best way to start this list

2- the jumping dual wielding colossal heavy is still the best with Raider as another guy pointed out down there, and you can always do it old school style and use the punish windows

3- Retaliate is still the second best character ability losing only to Ironeye's overpowered dash, as Retaliate still negates 80% of the damage and then when at you're 1% makes you invincible, regenerating stamina as a cool bonus

4- with certain relic sets, Raider becomes a juggernaut, but i dont remember all the combinations and its 3:39 AM so you'll have to excuse me

5- this class still has the highest HP and stamina, quick reminder that every single class gets one-tapped in DoN depths, which is what people have complained so much about recently, two-tapped if you're Wylder, while Raider gets like 6-tapped if you're not careful due to Retaliate, virtually infinity-tapped if you know how to use the 1% health immortality gimmick

6- and finally, Raider also has one of the best synergies with colossal and shield pairing as well as heavy bows and hand ballistas among the entire roster

So next time you wanna complain, think twice, Raider is still an S tier GOAT!

                                                  • Anonymous

Raider is more than just a class, you see, its a playstyle, it is Ultra Great Weapon/Colossal Weapon incarnate, its a way of life, as long as there is a single fromsoft player out there who'd much rather slam their enemies with a weapon bigger than their own character instead of using puny katanas, greatswords, daggers, arrows or anything else, there will always be a dedicated Raider enjoyer.

                                                    • Anonymous

no matter how much you try to deny him, to reject his etch in your mind, truth is you will always come back to daddy Raider the gigachad, and you know it

                                                        I KNEW RETALIATE WAS BUGGED.

For some reason, that DoN relic effect that reduced enemy attack power when you megaton-punch them wouldn't stagger anything, even with the buffed version. I swear to god that was a bug because a 15% attack decrease is HUGE for how much damage DoN does in general. At first, I thought it was either bugged or they intentionally removed the stagger to make up for the damage nerf, but thank GOD it was just a bug.

                                                        • Anonymous

The strength boost from two handing seems less effective in Nightreign than it was in Elden Ring.
Raider's two handed moveset is slow and weird.
Dual wielding is much stronger in comparison, stamina spent, damage and stance.
Even tho Fromsoftware sabotaged two handing, I will keep using it. Disguted on Fromsoftware, but still two handing.

People complaining about deep of night must be spamming Retaliate and forgot they can just roll and use the jump attacks, like you're supposed to, since every single class gets one-shot by a common enemy at that point, imagine if people fought Malenia in Elden Ring like these brainless mfs fight enemies using Raider, roll and use punishment windows to punish, that's the formula, that has always been the formula.

                                                            • Anonymous

Played with a random Raider and Revenant today, I think they were a duo (they should played the duo mode man)
The Raider was using a crossbow (and it was NOT the triple-shot crossbow) against one of the elite field bosses. I suffered so much.

Feels really bad to play in depth 3 or more... Until you get relics with improved physical/affinity damage negation and dormant power helps discover fists.

Having the extra tankiness makes a big difference in being able to use your retaliate without getting your health chunked, and the faster moveset of fist weapons lets you land charge attacks and get stance breaks without having to deal with his painfully slow default moveset.

                                                                • Anonymous

I swear his Retaliate is bugged with the new relic effect that reduces an enemies HP if you megaton punch them. Enemies just do not stagger or get knocked back by the buffed punch, but the normal punch still works as intended.

                                                                  • Anonymous

I tried out the "Raider Improved Mind and Intelligence, Reduced Vigor and Endurance" relic in depth 3 so you don't have to.

                                                                    It's completely unviable.

It doesn't give enough int for your spells to actually do reasonable damage, and it doesn't give enough mind for you to be able to cast those spells without constantly running out of FP. Even using a purple staff that had Rycard's Rancor on it I was struggling to deal with basic non-red bosses, and I was having to crunch an insane number of starlight shards even with relics that gave maximum FP and the increased FP from opening two sorcerer's rises.

Given the fact that Raider's kit revolves around trading hits with enemies (in a game mode where you'll already lose 60% of your hp through Retaliate's damage negation) and provides absolutely no benefits to the caster playstyle, there's just no reason at all to use this build instead of simply playing Recluse or Duchess.

                                                                    • Anonymous

Feels horrible in Deep of Night depth 3+ even using retaliate trading any hit especially with a red enemy takes half or more of your HP and your weapon attacks are so slow and stamina consuming that a single mistake means death and/or defeat. Wait until you fight a royal Revenant that teleports faster than you can swing your weapon. Retaliate and colossal weapons also got nerfed and don't stagger as well. Many bosses and enemies straight up ignore charged retaliate now, all combined it just makes raider feel awful in the later depths.

                                                                      • Anonymous

So many of the DoN weapon passives feel like a direct attack on Raider, anything that penalises you for being below full HP is a punishment for using your character's skill properly. And some red bosses can chunk more than half of your HP even through Retaliate's damage negation, which wouldn't be such an issue if partial HP recovery on post damage attacks worked for it - but unfortunately for some reason it doesn't.

He still seems like a good pick for DoN because of how tough he is and how easily he can stance break enemies, but there are several mechanics in the new game mode that just feel like a slap in the face for Raider.

                                                                        • Anonymous

Raider got a very *slight* nerf with the new patch.

"Decreased the stagger damage with dual-wielded jump attacks for some large weapons."

Now, I don't know if they're referring to poise (like how likely an enemy is to get knocked out of an attack animation with heavier weapons) or stance (the one where you hear the loud as BONG sound effect when you break their kneecaps), but from my (very rudimentary) testing, you need to spam Jumping L1's like 2-3 more times than before. Small nerf, but it could've been a lot worse.

At least Greathammer/Greataxes got buffed, and the Super-Retaliate got a much needed range increase. It already had a pretty big AoE but now it seems to reach further

                                                                          • Anonymous

Get yourself the Everdark Adel relic plus any other Improved Critical relics you can find, power stance great axes with an Executioner's Greataxe in the main hand, and stack up any critical hit weapon passives you can find.

Spam jumping L1s until the target is stance broken, then two hand your Executioner's and instakill whatever you were hitting.

                                                                            • Anonymous

They gotta speed up his charged attacks cause people think. hes better for stance breaking bosses then other characters, but you would do more stance damage if you just spammed charged attacks with any other character on a colossal weapon. Legit takes like 6 seconds to finish a whole charge attack.

                                                                              • Anonymous

That's the Raider with his Ult.

                                                                                • Anonymous

To add onto what a previous comment said, the AoE for Raider's ult is HUGE. Like, "if you spawn it in the middle of the castle basement it can hit literally everything in the room except the super faraway corners" huge. Don't be afraid to summon it a bit out of the way becaue trust me, the only way you're missing with this thing is if you use it a mile away or the boss teleports to the other side of the arena.

also, if your raider summons a totem and you play ranged classes, STAND ON IT. most enemies in this game have no idea how to look up so that's free damage for no risk

                                                                                  • Anonymous

I've found that the best way to use the totem is to spawn it as far away from the boss as possible while still hitting them with the edge of the AOE (it's extremely big), that way you stagger them and get the damage buff, but the stone doesn't block your allies.

                                                                                    • Anonymous

Take advantage of the fact that this guy is built like andre of astora an slam them down with your fists. It's the bigger ones who should get the colossal axe/hammer falling down on them.

For annoying huge bosses that move around a lot? If you find a greatbow with rain of arrows equipped, you can deal a lot of damage to these.

                                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                                          • Anonymous

And then he immediately punches you so hard you stagger. Yhea I would be shitting bricks if I was facing a dude like this.

You don't have enough stamina for two R1s and rolling away, so sometimes just hitting them with an R1 and finishing them off with punch spam works too. Don't try this on any bosses though

To my knowledge, he's the one who shows up the most in all the remembrances, since he helps Duchess overcome her depression, Ironeye hangs out with him, and he's just vibing 99% of the time. Hell, he's not even here because he's forced to. Wylder's here for revenge, Duchess is here out of duty, Recluse out of curiosity, etc. Raider is just here to have a good time, which makes him all the more terrifying since, from what the others say about him, he is a literal FORCE of nature. He's here to find and regain lost glory, so imagine him in his prime...

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

Never understood the feud between Strength and Intelligence users. Strength gives you big damage and the ability to worry about only two things: Health and stamina, though at the expense of range. Meanwhile, Intelligence lets you pump out damage from afar, though having to worry about stamina, FP, AND health, while also usually lending itself to more of a glass cannon build. Both of them can be equally difficult to play, and equally as fun. We need the Chosen Str/Int One to heal the rift between these two warring factions.
Or we can put our differences aside and focus all of our hatred on Dex users.

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

So I was doing some speed testings, because back in Elden Ring, after the DLC they released a patch which improved the speed of uncharged heavy attacks in a lot of weapons, making it much more useful. For some reason, they created this character with a heavy attack that is even slower. And they made so this same slow moveset is shared with 3 different weapon types on Raider.
For full charged attacks it is even slower, Raider would take almost 5 seconds to do the charged attack and move again, while all other character would take around 3.

                                                                                                          • Anonymous

I wish the characters could pick low level weapons (the white ones) to start with in the expeditions from the get go cuz i would love to permanently have two colossals on my Raider, would make the early run so much easier, and i know having the ability to choose weapons, even white ones, could turn out to be a little too OP, but cmon, first off this isnt a PvP game and second off the nightlords in this game are multiple times stronger than anything we've seen in base Elden Ring save from maybe Malenia and Consort Radahn so who cares if we can start with a little more overpowered set of weapons.

                                                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                                                              • Works good with the big ahh bow.
Can use shields. The block+bonk is fun.

If you don't like the slowness and stamina consumption of colossal weapons then just use strength weapons. Axes and hammers.

Forked hatchet is my favorite bc of its already high poise break with bleed, poise and lower stamina drain th colossal so why not.
Also summon that big ahh block you can stand on top of it and get head shots with heavy attacks. It blocks nukes aswell.

                                                                                                                    • Anonymous

People be focusing too much on totem stela when they should be paying attention to Raider's true shining glory tool: his Retaliate! It's what makes him such a better tank compared to Wylder, i mean of course Raider would still be the better tank if he had the exact same ability, since he has greater HP and Stamina, but that would make him only a 10% better tank than Wylder, Retaliate is what makes him a tenfold better tank than Wylder, while Wylder's ability's sole two uses is extra mobility and a jumping heavy followup, Raider's Retaliate reduces all incoming damage by about 90%, and prevents death even if you are at 1 HP, also giving you a free hit against the enemy, all of those things are very important for a tank, so let's give Retaliate some love, it's Raider's true ult!

                                                                                                                      • Anonymous

You can use it behind bosses to not block attacks from other players, and it has a large aoe so you can use it from further away and hit enemies without trapping them in the pillar as much. That being said, attacks can still hit you from the top of the pillar, and it’s terrible indoors, but I wouldn’t say it’s the very worst ult.

                                                                                                                        • Anonymous

I'd actually be ok with playing more support and making my ultimate give out tons of buffs to everyone near it. Unfortunately the way things are now nobody will ever take those bonuses since they never know if they will even be teamed with a Raider in the first place.
