Creatures and Enemies in Nioh 3 are the hostile characters that you will encounter in the World. Enemies pose different levels of threat and challenges to the player, and they have various appearances and origins, which range from Human Rogues, Samurai, Bandits, to supernatural entities known as "Yokai". However, some Yokai are not immediately hostile upon contact, and this type of creature is expected to be present in Nioh 3. This page will list all of the enemies, including the friendly Yokai in the world.

Enemy Ki and Grappling Mechanics in Nioh 3

When you deplete an enemy's Ki to 0, you can deal significant damage with Grapple. To grapple, press △ near an enemy that's out of Ki. Humans restore Ki over time, while yokai do not unless they are in the Yokai Realm, or under other special circumstances. Additionally, strong yokai cannot be grappled unless their maximum Ki is fully depleted. Yokai's maximum Ki is greatly reduced by destroying glowing golden weak points.

strong yokai nioh 3 wiki guide

This is a mechanic that is similar to lowering an enemy's stance, which causes them to stumble. You have a few seconds to get close to them and press the Grapple button to perform this move. This will allow your character to perform an automated move that deals an attack that is significantly more powerful. This mechanic is introduced right before the Tutorial Mission, in a location that looks like a training ground or a Dojo.

The Dark Realm in Nioh 3

The Darm Realm is a world modifier that strengthens all the yokai within that area, while increasing the player's Spirit Force gain and Guardian Spirit Skill power. This usually happens when fighting a strong enemy or a Yokai boss that can create a totem where the Dark Realm originates from. In some cases, the Dark Realm will originate from the boss itself, so the only way to dispel it is to defeat the boss. One example of this boss fight is Mezuki, a yokai that is encountered in the southern area of Tokaido.

Enemy Bases in Nioh 3

Enemy Bases are sub-areas found within regions in Nioh 3. These are locations where you can find a fixed number of enemies, and you will get a prompt indicating how many enemies you need to defeat before you can capture it. Capturing enemy bases will increase your exploration level, and some will give access to treasure chests or Shrines being guarded by a Kodama.

The reason this page is incomplete is apparently that it's entirely based off of the in-game Yokai Illustrations found in the eternal rift which is also incomplete. Team Ninja has been slow to fix this; before a previous update, it had even more omissions. Currently, it is missing Tsurara Onna (new Yasha-based enemy with ice attacks), Raiju (new yamainu-based enemy with electrical attacks), and Koroka. Maybe others that I'm not remembering.

Not quite done the game now, but from what I've played, the following field enemy yokai have been cut:

        unique:
        onyudo
        fox spirit
        rokurokubi
        namahage
        mitsume-yazura
        tesso
        hellish hag
        oboroguruma

        variations:
        kiryoki (enki)
        underworld soldier (namahage)
        The four great demons
Maybe toxic slime and/or harinobo. Can't really tell them apart from regular lesser umibozu

A little disappointing. I was hoping at least all the unique types would make it back. Maybe the DLC will be a big yokai reunion.
