Beardcutter is a Sword in Nioh 3. Swords have a shorter blade compared to the Odachi, but with a similar curve used to deal damage to Enemies and Bosses. Swords can only be used while the Samurai style is active. All Weapons in Nioh 3 also come with their own Skill Tree, which can provide Martial Arts for Samurai and Ninjutsu (Ninja Skills) for Ninja.
Beardcutter was the preferred weapon of Minamoto no Yoritomo, also known as "Lord Kamakura," who created Japan's first military government, the Kamakura shogunate. This heirloom weapon has been passed down through the Genji clan since ancient times. Minamoto no Mitsunaka once used it to decapitate a criminal, cutting so cleanly that the blade even sliced through the man's beard, thus granting the weapon its name. The blade's distinctive pattern intersects and extends all the way to the tip of the blade.
