Anders is an NPC in Baldur's Gate 3. Anders can be found at The Risen Road. Anders is alongside his companions, inside a tollhouse, they are looking for a demon named Karlach. There is a massive amount of NPCs in Baldur's Gate 3, and their ideals, needs and way of living are strictly related to the actions they perform during the course of the game. Their attitude towards you and your party may be affected by the deeds and decisions you and your party taken on.

Baldur's Gate 3 Anders Dialogue Options
When approached, Anders tells you that even if the gnolls hit them hard, the place is safe because it's under Tyr's protection. He tells you that he and his companions are looking for a Tiefling called Karlach. According to his words, Karlach is a powerful demon that has to be put to rest. If you bring him Karlach's head, he will deliver his Sword of Justice. This updates Hunt the Devil.
Cast "Speak with Dead" in the room next to him reveals he lied to you.
Dialogue Choices:
After he tells about their encounter with a demon who slaughtered them.
- Where is this devil?
- It isn't like a devil to use their brawn instead of their brains.
- Let me help. I can hunt down this monster.
- I wish you and yours well, but I must e on my way soon.
- Now that she softened you up, I'll finish you off.
Eventually, he will offer up his sword in exchange for her head.
- Very well. I'll bring you her head.
- I'll think about it
- I have other things to deal with .
- The only head that will roll is yours.
Second Encounter:
You can return to Anders with Karlach and he will tell you to leave them in peace.
- You'll need to convince me you're not who she says you are.
- Karlach, these people seem harmless.
- You can drop the act. I know you're servants of Zariel.
- [INSIGHT] Assess his posture, his eyes - is he telling the truth?
- [DETECT THOUGHTS] Probe his mind.
If you choose option 3, he will deny it. You will have another opportunity to leave him alone
- Enough of this charade, I know who you really are.
- Stand down, Karalach, or I'll have to intervene.
- Leave them in peace.
If you continue to press him with option one, a Battle will soon begin.

AnonymousSo I'm under the impression this guy doesn't actually use smites as they are in the game, but he's probably coded to just deal extra radiant damage on his attacks, since he seems to not be limited by quantity nor action economy to gain the benefits of the radiant damage that he has. If anyone knows more about it, please let us know.

I counted the smites larian. They were 8, this guy hit me with 8 smites before he died. Why does a level 5 have that many smite slots larian? Release his build you cowards!!! Let us see the truth!!!

Is it ever explained why this guy says he's a paladin of Tyr when clearly he's not? Tyr would NEVER offer protection to murderers who kill tieflings.

Can someone explain how this guy attacks 3 times in one turn? And how the hell did he smite me 3 times in a row and then cast shield of faith on himself in the same turn?

This guy is overtuned like crazy. Killing my 41 HP tank in 1 turn is ridiculous.

This guy is literal fodder to help get Karlach geared up. That is the only reason for alternate boosted reward of killing him and his crew, as the sword itself that he drops, is pretty much, word, for word, what Karlach's goals are. Which leads me to believe that Karlach properly classed is a Bar(b)/Pally. Not a bad combo, likely a Vengeance Berserker. Given how far she is in, compared to the other companions, you get access to, outside of attempting the jump between where she is and from back entrance for Zevlors Cave, up the wall and across. It's well worth the risk to recruit Karlach early, especially because of all the approval gains for reasonable people. Even before Wyll. Heck, bring Karlach TO Wyll's recruitment, watch them sparks fly.

This guy divine smited me twice in the same turn dropping two characters. I don’t know if it’s because he has multi attack but that seems like bullshit.
I really wish you could get proof somewhere near that he is lying. Jusr GUESSING who to kill feels really bad.

So I killed this guy because I knew he was bad and it caused my paladin to become an oathbreaker. So Paladins beware
