Longclaw Tool Notes & Tips in Hollow Knight Silksong

  • Having the Longclaw equipped extends the range for Hornet's needle attacks, creating an advantage to deal damage to foes at a safer distance. This also buys Hornet enough space to evade, reposition and launch another attack at a safer distance.
  • Longclaw can also be useful when performing melee attacks at a huge mob of monsters, to ensure that you reach and slice through more and deal damage per offensive attack instance efficiently.

One of the best blue tools in the game probably, defently top 5 blue tools. Increase range is the following:
      Hunter: 43 pixel (23%)
      Reaper: 45 pixel (20%)
      Wanderer: 39 pixel (20%)
Witch: (not worth it, 30 pixel, 11%)
Overall i think hunter and reaper are the ones that benefit the most, followed by wanderer. Reaper especially benefits a lot, since it makes zoning hit and run tactic a lot more easy and safe (personally allowed me to first try a lot of act 3 fights)

I notice it more on Beast Crest and thought maybe beasts have claws so this is meant for that crest. At least that way it would have a logical reason to be rubbish on most

My very rudimentary testing looks like it gives you 50 extra pixels of length. For Reaper Crest, that's about a 15% increase.

I was using it on Architect's charge attack to compare and checking the recording it looks like it's the exact same size equipped vs unequipped?

Does anybody know what happens to this in act 3?

I didn't buy out the mottled skarrs inventory am before going to act 3 and his items were still accessible just somewhere else, so if the devs thought of that already then this has to be true for this npc too right?

should buff it to make it function like longnail + mark of pride AKA +45% to all attack ranges. as it stands it's not worth the slot.

                • I compared the effect with the crest of the Wanderer and Reaper. The added range appears to be a fixed value, not proportional to the base attack range.
This means you won't feel the effect much with long range attacks such as crest of the Reaper but will definitely see the difference with shorter attacks like crest of the Wanderer.

After testing, the increase to range is so minimal that it's not worth equipping over other better tools. Disappointment

Go all the way left from the top most bench in Bilehaven. Climb up and go left through a giant tunnel with a Dustsucker in the tunnel and Barnaks among the ceiling. Somewhere past that going down is a giant bug mother that gives a wish quest titled Broodfeast. Gather organs using different tools as the kill. Longclaw is the quest reward.
