Anonymousa real SHOCKER of a tool. real good use of a slot. really ENERGETIC gameplay. i dont mind commiting assault and BATTERY on a barnacle to get this amazing tool. great for ELECTRIFYING battles.

AnonymousThread storm deals 200+ damage btw. This and Shaman Crest boosted it by a lot

AnonymousI'm the OP of the third comment on this page, this tool actually was bugged and got fixed by TC in a recent update (I'm not sure if it's on the stable branch on steam, but it 100% is on the public beta one).
It was actually supposed to also increase the base damage of the skills, in addition to the +5 sparks here and there. Thread Storm now goes from 115 damage (when extended) to 160 damage. It goes from 16x5 + 7x5 hits to 20x5 + 9x5 hits, and +15 damage from the 3 sparks ticks.
Cross stitch goes from 52 to 69 (from 13x4 hits to 16x4 hits + 1 spark)
Silkspear goes from 63 to 84 (79 + 1 spark)
Pale Nails goes from 63 to 83 (78 + 1 spark)
It's pretty much a must pick if you're a big user of TStorm.
AnonymousSo, from what I understand this damage is applied over ticks, meaning that skills like Threat Storm and Cross Stich, which apply their damage over multiple ticks, benefit much more from this than skills like Silkspear and Pale Nails, which all only tick a single time. However, note that this damage comes in the form of a "status effect" which applies to enemies similarly to poison, where they'll get hit with a flat 5 damage (as of right now) tick. This damage has a cooldown however, and doesn't activate with EVERY tick of damage. Or maybe it's more useful to think of it as time to "activate" the effect, as it were.
From my testing, during a single-tap Thread Storm, the effect activates around 2-3 times, resulting in an additional 10-15 damage, increasing the damage from 50 to 60-65. Mashed Thread Storm gets increased from 80 to around 100, so roughly 4 ticks of extra damage. Thread Storm hits for 5x10 (tapped) and then for an additional 6x5 (if mashed), so putting this on effectively gives you the damage of something like 4 extra hits.
As for Rune Rage, it depends entirely on how many runes actually hit a single target. If you don't know; Rune Rage starts out dealing 52 damage per hit, but reduces that damage by around half for every hit it lands on any given enemy. Every rune hits for one tick, but multiple runes may hit the same enemy, so it's impossible for me to give an accurate number here. Think of it as an additional 5 damage on every hit, even for the ones with reduced damage. The damage stays flat.
Now; considering that this damage is flat, Shaman Crest doesn't gain any significant synergy from this, as the damage increase is the same for this and, say, Wanderer. It's still 5 damage per tick. However, considering you have 3 (4 with Vesticrest) blue slots at your disposal, I'd say putting this on is never a mistake.
Someone on this board pointed out that this damage increases in "wet environments" but I haven't been able to test that. If that's true, it might be a game changer for fights like Groal.

Anonymousdoes anyone know how this was adjusted in the new patch/public beta that's out? Like does it do more than 5 damage now or stack more times than it used to?

AnonymousBiS tool for Shaman crest, purely because of the increase in silk skill damage? Idk, trying to make this work. I’m convinced this and Barbed Bracelet are bugged in some way that makes them give less damage than they should.

AnonymousI read some where that electric damage hits harder in wet environments (think groal and chef lugoli).

AnonymousElemental stuff like this, flintslate, and pollip pouch are so cool, but their usefulness is questionable.

To those wondering: This represents an increase of an average of 18% for Storm Thread and usually almost 20% for Cross Stitch. If you use those, the slot is worth for Volt Filament. Pale Nails and Silk Spear, however, gain only about 5-8%, whereas Sharpdart and Rune Rage gain even less.

AnonymousI installed a mod that displays enemies' HP bar to see how much damage this thing adds. This tool lets your skills proc an electricity spark which does 5 damage. It's pitifully low, as a fully upgraded needle does 21, Silk Spear or Pale Nails do 63, and Thread Storm does 80/115 (depending on whether you extend the duration or not).
For Silk Spear and Pale Nails, it adds +5 for both, as the electricity spark doesn't proc per-hit, but is timer-based. Thread Storm is able to proc it 2 times with the default duration, and I guess 4 times in total when extending. +5/+10/+20 damage isn't worth a blue slot, this seriously needs a buff
