Bosses in Hollow Knight Silksong refer to especially powerful Enemies that Hornet will come across in key encounters. Boss encounters are typically characterized by a much larger health pool, as well as more involved mechanics that require precision, pattern recognition, and a good understanding of the playable character's abilities, resulting in a much higher level of challenge. Many Bosses are mandatory for progression as they either guard key Locations or reward special Abilities, Items, and Upgrades required to move forward, while some are optional and can be taken on for additional rewards or access to new areas. Now, after the official release date announcement and trailer reveal, it is confirmed that Hollow Knight Silksong will have over 40 Legendary Bosses. Listed below are the Bosses that have been revealed in press releases and trailers, and this page will be updated as more information becomes available.

How to Spot Bosses in Silksong?
Boss fights in Hollow Knight: Silksong can be easy to miss at first, but there are several clear signs that tell you when a boss is already in front of you. The most reliable sign is the name display. Whenever you face a main boss, their name will appear in the lower-left corner of the screen as soon as the fight starts. For example, if you meet an enemy and a name like Moss Mother appears in that spot, it is guaranteed to be a boss encounter.
Another key signal is the scream. Bosses always let out a loud cry before the fight begins, warning you that the battle is about to start. They often release a second scream when they are defeated or changing phases, marking the end of the fight.
Boss arenas also stand out from the rest of the game. A boss usually waits in a room or open space that feels different from the normal path you have been exploring. These areas may look larger, more decorated, or simply more complicated than the surrounding tunnels, giving you a clear hint that something important is coming.
By watching for the name popup, listening for the opening scream, and noticing a change in the environment, you can quickly tell when you are about to face one of Silksong's many challenging bosses.
Do Bosses have health bars in Silksong?
One thing that makes bosses in Hollow Knight Silksong different from those in many other action or RPG games is the lack of a visible health bar. During a boss fight, you will not see any gauge or meter showing how much life the enemy has left. Instead, you must keep attacking until the boss reacts in specific ways.
A boss will often let out a loud scream when something important happens. This scream can mean two things: either the boss has been defeated, or it is about to enter a new phase of the fight. Some bosses gain new moves or become more aggressive after this scream, so be ready to adapt.
Even without a health bar, you can still get a sense of a boss's remaining strength by watching its behavior. As the battle goes on, bosses may attack faster, strike harder, or perform more complicated attacks. These signs usually mean the fight is reaching its final moments and the boss's health is almost gone.
Do Bosses have Phases in HK Silksong?
Most bosses in Hollow Knight: Silksong fight in multiple phases, with each phase becoming more dangerous than the last. A clear sign that a boss is about to change phases is when it becomes stunned for a short moment and lets out a loud scream. This brief pause signals that the next part of the battle is about to begin.
When a boss enters a new phase, it will often speed up its existing attacks or introduce new moves to its pattern. Some bosses may even combine different attacks at the same time, creating more complex and harder-to-avoid sequences.
Knowing these signs helps you prepare for sudden shifts in the fight. If you hear the scream or see the boss stagger, stay alert because its next attacks will likely be faster, stronger, and more unpredictable.
How do Mini-Bosses Differ from Main Bosses in Silksong?
Unlike main Bosses, Mini-Boss names do not appear on the left hand side of the screen. While you may think Mini-Bosses can be easier than Main Bosses, this isn't the case. Some Mini-Bosses can be trickier to fight than main bosses. The only indicator you can have that you've encountered a Mini-Boss is when you no name appears but it shouts before the fight.
How many Bosses are in HK Silksong?
As of now, Hollow Knight: Silksong features 44 main bosses and 4 mini-bosses that have been discovered. This list is still a work in progress, so more bosses may be added or revealed in future updates. Bosses can be found across the many different locations in the game world, and it is common to encounter several bosses while exploring new areas. For a full overview of these locations, you can check the Locations page for detailed maps and descriptions.
There are also a few exclusive bosses that only appear in Steel Soul Mode, such as the Summoned Saviour, which offers an extra challenge for players looking for a harder experience.
Are Boss Fights in Order in Hollow Knight Silksong?
Most bosses in Hollow Knight Silksong can be fought in different orders, depending on where you choose to explore first. There is no fixed sequence for the majority of encounters, allowing players to meet bosses in their own unique path through the world.
A few areas may give a sense of order, but even these are not strict. For example, if you travel to The Marrow, you can expect to face bosses such as Bell Beast, Bell Eater, Skull Tyrant, Craggler, and Skarrgard. However, the order in which you meet them can still change based on your route and how you explore the area.
