Viconia DeVir is an NPC in Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3). BG3 Viconia DeVir can be found at the House of Grief Lower City. Viconia DeVir appears in both previous titles in Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, and makes a reappearance in BG3 as the Mother Superior of the Sharran cloister. There is a massive amount of NPCs in Baldur's Gate 3, and their ideals, needs and way of living are strictly related to the actions they perform during the course of the game. Their attitude towards you and your party may be affected by the deeds and decisions you and your party have taken on.

BG3 Viconia DeVir Dialogue Options

When you encounter Viconia with Shadowheart in the Cloister of Sombre Embrace, she will ask for the Artefact.

  1. Shadowheart has nothing to prove to the likes of you.
  2. This was a mistake. We shouldn't have come here.
  3. Why is the artefact so important to you.
  4. Keep silent.

She will say that the artefact was the one thing the Absolutists feared and they needed to have it.

  1. Shar bid you to do all of this?
  2. You thought you could best the Absolute? The githyanki?
  3. I've heard enough.

She will continue to say that everything she does is for Shar. You will then have the choice to Surrender Shadowheart to Viconia. This will also affect your journals for the Daughter of Darkness

  1. She's all yours
  2. Never.

If you refuse, you will need to fight them in battle.

If you decide to fight her, you will be given another option to allow Shadowheart to interrogate her. Shadowheart says she needs answers.

  1. Make it quick.
  2. No, Shadowheart. We've won. you don't need anything from her.
  3. Let's kill her.

Allow her to make it quick and she will ask about her parents. She will tell Shadowheart that they are through the door in the Chamber of Loss. As you converse with her, you will be given additional chances to end the conversation and kill her. If you don't choose to kill her she will be spared.

If you kill or loot Viconia, you get Viconia's Walking Fortress, Viconia's Priestess Robe and Handmaiden's Mace.

THIS game is the biggest SCAM of 2023, not The Day Before.
These 100+ millions of $ should have been burned by Heath Ledger's Joker. Yeah, real money, not the fake money.

Really funny putting in a fan favorite companion and romance option in as a shitty punching bag to prop up their companion. Then ending with them bragging about how noone will remember them.

They seriously just put her in the game as an antagonist? After all the character development she had in BG2???

          • Anonymous

At the end of the fight she was unconscious, but everyone thought she was dead. I could talk with her and she behaved as if Shadowheart wasn't in my party even if Shadowheart was talking to her.

            • Anonymous

you cant betray dark shadowheart to viconia, the fight with devir is unavoidable with dialogs check for amount of enemy crowd

              • Technically, fighting Viconia and a full house of enemies (save Shadowheart's best friend) is not really hard - at least on Tactician mode. No need to turn to cheese and more cheese. Here are the reasons:

                1) Other than Vic being level 11, all other potential enemies are capped at level 7: they have relatively low defenses and none has access to damage-based arcane spells. They are not even equipped with magical weapons. As a result, even a full-scale battle against the entire house should be manageable to most player parties of level 9+.

                2) Shadowheart, if NOT respeced, is capable of trivializing the battle, as this is the climax of her personal quest after all. Being a Trickery Cleric, Shadowheart can summon an army to protect her and fight for her and is the only type of Cleric capable of disarming & disabling an entire army of enemies. This battle feels like tailor made for her to show off her powerful Trickery abilities in overwhelming a large army of enemies.

                3) In combat, the only unique challenge of this battle is the hefty punishment for any party member who dares to use Radiant damage. This is very obvious to every player who has "examined" those NPCs. And handling it is very easy. However, if a player has overlooked or chosen to defy this warning, then the more Radiant damage they dish, the faster they kill themselves. It is possible for a powerful party to instantly kill all their own party members this way.

                4) My first playthrough (Tactician mode): We fought Vic and slaughtered her entire house and Shadowheart remained in full health during the entire battle. No healing, no potions, no Haste spell, no throwables, no consumables were used/needed.

4.1 Some details pre-battle: We had just fought Antie Ethel in a hardest possible way (no pre-talk kills or tricks on our part) and were running very low on spell slots. Upon entering the House of Grief, we noticed that it would be too dangerous for Shadowheart to rely on her Radiant damage here. Nevertheless, we wanted to rely on Shadowheart for bringing her own quest to an end. To preserve our remaining spell slots, we decided to create an army of summons (2 spell slots => 6 skeletons + "Us") to protect Shadowheart in case a battle broke out. We then took a short rest to restore the little health we lost in fighting the hag.

4.2 Actual battle: Shadowheart (level 11 Trickery Cleric), accompanied by my main character (Dark Urge, multiclass Sorceress), walked downstairs to talk to Vic. After the talk, Vic and her entire house turned hostile. During the first round, Shadowheart was the first to act and disarmed 3 melee enemies of level 7. After that, Durge and Karlach killed 3 others. Jaheira then disarmed 2 more and her Dryad laid down a Spike field between Vic and the Durge party. The skeleton army of 6 archers formed a circle around Shadowheart. As you can see, by the end of the first round, the battle had already been trivialized. Nobody in the Durge party took much damage, until after the near-death Vic became the only hostile left on the map. Right before defeated, she invoked Divine Intervention, doing 8-80 unresisted damge, killing the wounded "Us" and all but 1 skeleton archers. Nevertheless, the skeleton army successfully prevented Shadowheart from losing a single HP. Due to lack of spell slots, Shadowheart didn't try to disarm/disable more enemies. BTW, her Firebolt could deal up to 48 fire damage here - no idea how or why. Her firebolt had a good accuracy here as well - no need for her to deal Radiant damage.

Easy fight, during dialog with shadowheart in the down hall, press to change other member party and go to kill her. After she die, no fight at the hall but after you come back from loss mirror, all enemy in the hall will attack you. Just open map and go to another check point to avoid fight. Tip for loss mirror, reset class to be monk and click religion +5 and int +17 then up level to 8 to get int +20 use with guidance, you will have safety 9-12 on hand when roll. If have ring +religion will get more chance.

                  • Spent a few hours on Dark Mirror. And, based on the option for gaining Wisdom (Turn to the wisdom of a drow. Once of Lolth, then or Shar (+2 Wisdom)), it feels like a description that can apply to Viconia and may explain why she's still evil: "a lifetime in service of darkness. Yet, most curious - there is light there also. Adventures, long past. Friends and companions, remembered with a secret fondness." It doesn't excuse her abuse of Shadowheart but further cements that Shar is a-

I broke my oath of the ancients by letting her live lol. Reloaded and killed her, their was no problem. Some Oath I'm upholding.

I were so hyped and avoided all spoilers for this game, hoping to see my waifu again after decades. Quite the bitter feeling seeing your best girl get butcher into an one-dimensional side-villian with personaity as deep as a rain puddle.

I killed her before starting dialogue and all the other sharrans sided with Shadowheart and became neutral.

I'm going to pretend both her and Sarevok aren't actually them and they're just larpers because holy **** Larian butchered those two.

Shar revived her she must have had memory loss about husband Bhaalspawn and child . In short story after Throne of Bhaal she could be a party character in Throne of Bhaal

She was Bhaalspawn wife they had child I think after sparing her Bhaalspawn and child return and reveal themselves after her quest and they reunited she was killed 100 years ago by Loth assassins Shar must have shown favor and revived her for a purpose

After throne of baal .she married your character and you had children then she was killed by Loth assassins. You and children prospered. I hate Throne of Baal after story on her I loved her character from BG 1 how they bring here back I would like to know .I prefer her over shadowheart

I had one character talk to her and have the rest beat her to death mid-dialogue. Weirdly enough no one's gonna attack you if you do this.
