Mount Fay is a Location in Hollow Knight Silksong. Mount Fay is located in the western area of the map, and players can reach it from The Slab. It is highly recommended to have Clawline before you explore Mount Fay, as you'll need it to scale platforms to reach the pinnacle where a unique Ancestral Art awaits. Mount Fay also has a special weather system that causes Hornet to feel the harsh cold, causing her to take damage when exposed to it for too long. Despite the severe weather, Hornet can take refuge under areas that provide warmth to mitigate the negative effects or use the flames from the Flintslate tool.

Full Mount Fay Walkthrough
How to get to Mount Fay
Starting from the Citadel Spa Bench in Choral Chambers, head west and climb up a level to get a straight shot into The Slab westward. You'll merely be passing through The Slab, as this is the only way to go to Mount Fay. Once you're at The Slab, keep heading west till you're at the middle vertical path. Head to the southern bench of The Slab and head east to reach the entrance to Mount Fay.

Heading Into Mount Fay
Once you arrive at the foot of Mount Fay, claim the first 2 benches for easier traversal of at least the bottom part of the mountain as a start, as well as find Shakra at the southeastern bench to get a better hold of your bearings by purchasing the map for Mount Fay. From there, make your way north, starting from the southwestern bench.

From there, make your way north, starting from the southwestern bench. Keep an eye on your warmth, as freezing will cause your Health Masks to ice up and shatter one by one. Do not linger between heat sources. Get to the nearest heat source as fast as you can. If you fail halfway up the mountain from the west side, you'll have to restart at the southwestern bench.
Heading up to Mount Fay's Peak.
Starting at the southwestern corner of the foot of Mount Fay, inside the bench's tower. Climb up north from the bench with the use of your Clawline and Swift Step, and hit the switch to open up the way north, as there is a good location there from which you can start your climb.

As mentioned earlier, make sure to get to the braziers as soon as you can to extend your warmth as much as you can while climbing up Mount Fay.
NOTE: DO NOT LINGER BETWEEN HEAT SOURCES OR YOU WILL FREEZE.

You will make use of all the frozen and inoperable cable cars as platforms, as well as the Driftlins hovering in between, to ascend the side of the mountain.

You will, however, encounter parts of the trail where there will only be suspended rings to use as a means to traverse up the mountain. Make use of your Clawline skill to make use of these rings. You will find these reactive light sources that also give out some heat, which you can use as resting spots to plan your next move.

Just before you're halfway up the western face of Mount Fay, you will find a path headed east, which leads into the mountain.

Elevated locations are found inside the mountain, which will require an Ancestral Art called Silk Soar, which you can acquire once you get to The Abyss in the 3rd chapter.

This path heading east can be used to get to the other side of Mount Fay, where there is also another Bench that you can claim. This is where you're going to continue climbing up to the peak.

You will be using your Clawline, Cling Grip, and Drifter's Cloak abilities a lot from this side, so make sure to get a feel for how the terrain goes and where you should dash towards next, or else you'll find yourself floating down back to the bottom. Keep heading north till you arrive at a platform with an opening north that heads into the mountain once again.

Once you find that opening headed north, follow the cave till you're outside again. Scale the walls to get outside, and to your left, you should see some spikes you can pogo off of, then continue to glide down west to a wind current that can take you up higher. Ride the wind current to the end, then take a right when you're at the highest point that the wind can carry you. You should spot the ancient tuning mechanism that contains the Faydown Cloak Ancestral Art for you to claim. Use your Needolin skill to interact with the ancient tuning mechanism.

Doing so will gain the attention of a mystical creature, which will come crashing down on the mechanism and give you the Faydown Cloak Ancestral Art. Having unlocked this ability, Hornet now has the ability to perform a double jump, allowing her to reach greater heights combined with her Clawline and Cling Grip abilities.

Having this Ancestral Art unlocked also renders Hornet immune to the cold climate of Mount Fay. Continue west and you'll find some Beast Shards to loot, a little bit further and you'll find yourself at the upper half of the western side of Mount Fay. Glide down with Drifter's Cloak and find a platform on your left.

From here, you can either return to the bench or go to the Mask Maker located in a small corner due northwest. If you do, however, decide to return to the bench. Head over to the left side and acquire the Mask Shard inside the hollow rock pillar with the use of your Faydown Cloak.

Starting from the western Bench in Mount Fay, go to the path on the right, and follow the path going down, where you can break ice shards. Break through the ice shards until you get to a room with spools. You can get the item called the Memory Crystal by breaking the huge crystal at the right-most part of the room.

The Mask Maker in Mount Fay
As you glide down, coming from the east where you got the Faydown Cloak, you'll find a small landing leading west. Going through this path will reveal an opening that leads you northwest.

This area will test your mastery of this mountain's traverse technique. You will be using your newly acquired skill alongside the rest of your Ancestral Arts to travel northwest to the Mask Maker's home.

Just a few easy Driftlin grabs headed northwest, and you'll finally reach the Mask Maker's home. Once you enter the Mask Maker's home, you'll immediately be face to face with him, face to back rather as you'll see him working on some ice shards.

He'll be surprised to have a visitor and will tell you, "...Grand you are. But you have already a mask. Already a face. It is for those without that I must carve. All deserve a face. A chance to be! Until I wither, for the faceless I shall provide. To exist, a face is needed. It is the essential thing. To work! To work! The masks must be carved."
Where is Pinstress in Mount Fay
To find Pinstress in Mount Fay, you'll have to head back to the Bench [See Silksong Map] with a lamp next to it in the upper portion of Mount Fay.

From there, you'll have to scale upwards using the Clawline ability and the Cling Grip ability while avoiding the spikes in between until you reach the platform above.

Jump to the next platform, and you'll be able to see Pinstress [See Silksong Map] frozen on the ground. You can strike Pinstress to save her, and afterwards, you can challenge her to a duel. Once you've defeated Pinstress, you'll be able to complete the "Fatal Resolve" quest.

Where to Find Mister Mushroom in Mount Fay
To find Mister Mushroom [See Silksong Map] in Mount Fay, you'll have to head back to the very top, where the mystical white creature is located, and where you got the Faydown Cloak. Once you're there, you'll see Mister Mushroom out in the open. Speak to Mister Mushroom to update the "Passing of the Age" quest. Keep in mind that you'll need to have started the "Passing of the Age" quest first to see the tiny mushrooms.

Where to Find the Mask Shard in Mount Fay
Once you've defeated Pinstress, head back to the Bench next to a lamp, and you'll see a hole on its left side.

Drop down the hole and glide your way to the left platform using the Drifter's Cloak and proceed to the next area. Inside, you'll have to keep heading west until you reach the ledge. From here, you'll have to use the Mnemonid to reach the tiny platform next to it.

You'll then need to use the Silk Soar ability from the platform to reach an upper level. At the top, go left to find an outcrop of Magnetite, and then head to the right area. On this side, you'll see boulders that return after you've destroyed them. You should quickly move before they return.

To the rightmost corner of the area, there will be an opening at the top, where you'll need to use the Silk Soar ability. Afterwards, keep pushing to the right, and you'll see an entrance to a sub-location called Brightvein.

Once you're inside Brightvein, you'll see two Mnemonids you can use to reach the left wall. Afterwards, use the Cling Grip ability to scale up to reach a platform.

You'll see multiple Mnemonords on the right side of the area. Use the Mnemonords to reach the very top platform, and at the top, there will be an opening where you can use the Silk Soar ability.

After entering the topmost area, you'll see a cocoon-like structure above. Destroy this statue and you'll be able to unlock the Mask Shard.

AnonymousOn the first page of your walkthroughs you list the order of act 1, 2 and 3 and in which you add a note in between stating stuff like you recommend us to return to the act 1 area with the claw line and double jump to explore new areas unattainable before. Could you provide us with a guide on areas we should explore now with the claw line and double jump that we're in act 1. Please and thank you

Anonymous1st section sucks, 2nd section is ok, 3rd section is absolutely epic

AnonymousWhen you enter mount fay for the first time, the most left part has a lore tablet that says that there is a secret or the end somewhere at the very top
Is it just a hint to find the mask maker ?
If you charge attack him, his mask falls, then you access more lore
When you come back much later into the game for a track quest, after the fight, she tells you about a "secret in the heart of ice".
It's kinda true. Somewhere in the ice, there is more ice. And a lot of ice. And icy water. Oh and a mask shard
Still didn't find my beloved shroom friend :( "fallen heart of frost that rises high in the heavens"
AnonymousWhy is there a glacier above a desert?
If getting here required a transport system like the HK tram and it was implied to be further away I think this level would have fit the setting better. Plus the slab being in a remote location would have worked thematically, since even if a prisoner could escape they would still be stuck in the tundra.
AnonymousCall it a skill issue all you want but I really hate the platforming in this section. It gets me nervous, and in turn, I screw up every time without fail. I have no idea why team cherry thought this was a satisfying section, it's just so damn frustrating for me.

AnonymousThis wiki is needs to hire writers if it wants to be more than a laughing stock. Also fun fact for people who came here for advice on Mount Fay: you can use the flintslate tool for a few more seconds of warmth.

AnonymousIn the center of the map of Mount Fay is a section called the Bright Vein. Its a secret I literally guarantee I found first since literally NOBODY has posted anything on it yet. It gives you a mask fragment but also there's an unusual section with some floating magnetite that allows you to inspect it and it says "An outcrop of Magnetite" Its only interactable so far but I swear its a secret. What do we use here?
