The biomes in Saros hold a lot of secrets and side paths that can reward players with containers containing artifacts or weapons, which can make exploration much easier. Yellow barriers are something players will come across fairly early in the game, and using Arjun’s melee attack, which works on normal red barriers, will not affect them.
The suit will also mention that the player’s melee power is not high enough to break these barriers. This hints at a power-up or item that can help you get past them, but how to unlock it is the question answered in the Saros guide below.
Saros: What To Do With Halcyon (Primary Upgrades)
Confused about what you should do with the Halcyons you’ve found in Saros? This guide has you covered!
How to Get Past Yellow Barriers in Saros
If you don’t want to spoil yourself even a bit and want the straightforward answer, all you need to do is progress through the story, and you will be able to get past these yellow barriers on your own. Unlike Returnal, where you have to fabricate an artifact that allows you to break barriers only for the current run, Saros adopts a different method. In this game, you will unlock Blazing Strike, but you need to complete a few steps before.
First, you need to complete the second act of the game. This means completing pretty much all the biomes and defeating the boss at the end of the Cathedral. When you do this and return to the Passage, you will get a cutscene, after which a path will open next to Primary that leads to the final biome in the game.
It is here that you will come across a yellow barrier on the main path for the first time, and the game will give you the Blazing Strike ability, changing your melee so you can destroy the barriers with a single hit. Now that you have unlocked the ability, you can use the World Dial to revisit all the previous biomes and find any yellow barrier rooms. Getting past them will lead to items and even collectibles like audio or text logs.
On top of this, the ability also allows you to break the yellow locked containers throughout Carcosa, saving your keys. You can now save your keys for the locked doors that pop up occasionally during your cycle.
