While exploring the first biome in Saros and getting used to the controls, along with the addition of the Soltari Shield, players will come across a lot of containers. These containers can hold main weapons or artifacts, which affect a player’s attributes. Progressing further into the biome, you will come across red and yellow containers, the latter of which are locked.

The red ones can be opened normally but offer a choice between two items, and if one of them is Halcyon, you should ideally pick that. The yellow containers are locked and require a key to open. Thankfully, the game offers multiple ways to open these containers, some of which are available early, while one method unlocks later in Saros.

Wondering if you can beat the tutorial boss in Saros? Here’s everything you need to know about Consort.

How to Open Locked Containers in Saros

After coming across a locked container, if you don’t have a Carcosan Key with you, it is best to move on and explore more of the biome. The keys can be found inside normal white containers, but they are quite a rare drop. Most biomes don’t allow you to backtrack or teleport to a specific area like Returnal, so if you miss a yellow container, chances are you can’t get back to it. Don’t bother with it and continue forward to find the next one.

The yellow containers, once opened, drop a power weapon of a higher proficiency than the one you currently have equipped. Aside from this, these containers drop nothing else and are often not worth opening, especially if your current power weapon is close to that proficiency level.

There is also the fact that red containers can drop these power weapons as well.

Carcosan Keys can also be used to open certain locked side-path doors, which often contain large Aether and a few containers for you to loot. Saving your keys for these doors is recommended since you don’t know when you’ll need that extra bit of health. Aside from opening white containers for keys, you can also unlock more nodes in your Armor Matrix, and there are a few nodes that require Lucenite, ensuring you start a run with a key in your inventory.

There are a total of five such nodes in the Armor Matrix, meaning that once you unlock all of them, every run you start will give you five keys to use. Finally, another method to unlock these locked containers becomes available after reaching the final biome in the game. Here, you will get an ability that allows you to break yellow barriers as well as yellow containers, saving your keys.
