Saros has numerous resources that players can find throughout their playthrough. Some of these can be classified as currencies since they are mainly used for upgrades. The game does a good job of explaining what all the resources do, but if you’re still confused about something, the Saros guide below has all the information you need.
Saros: How to Get Past Yellow Barriers
Here’s how players can open the yellow barriers in Saros and get the items or collectibles behind them.
All Resources & Currencies in Saros
Lucenite
One of the first things you will come across in the game is Lucenite. These are small yellow crystal shards scattered across the different biomes and can be found in side paths or dropped by enemies. As you collect more Lucenite, your proficiency level increases, which improves your attributes. Because of this, it is highly recommended to gather any Lucenite you come across.
Aside from the benefits it provides during a run, after defeating a boss and returning to the Passage, you can use the Lucenite you gathered to unlock upgrades in the Armor Matrix. Most of the upgrades here cost Lucenite, so you should be able to unlock a large portion of it. If you die during a run, you won’t lose all of the Lucenite you collected, but you will lose a significant amount.
Halcyon
Halcyon is the second currency in the game, and it is much rarer than Lucenite. At the start, you will find these lying around, glowing purple. There is no benefit to picking these up during a run, but they are extremely important for the Armor Matrix back in the Passage, so you should grab them whenever you see them.
As the game progresses and you complete more biomes, the most frequent way to obtain Halcyon will be by opening red containers, which can offer a Halcyon as a choice, and some Alpha hostiles can also drop them. When selecting a biome in the World Dial menu, you can see how much Halcyon a biome contains, and once it reaches the cap, you won’t get any more from it.
Once you bring Halcyon back to the Passage, you can use it to unlock important upgrades such as Second Chance, which grants an additional life and makes runs much easier.

Aether
Aether is the only healing item in Saros. As you explore more rooms, you will come across Aether, whether it is lying on the ground, dropped by enemies, or found inside red chests. It comes in three different sizes: small, medium, and large, and the size determines how much health you regenerate.
Aether glows bright green, so it is hard to miss while clearing rooms. If you are at full health and come across Aether, you can still press Triangle on it, which will convert the heal into Lucenite. It’s not a large amount, but it is better than leaving it behind. Certain upgrades in the Armor Matrix also increase the chances of Aether spawning.
Aether will not cleanse the corruption that you have accumulated, and for that, you will need to use a Power Move.
Artifacts
Artifacts are one of the most important parts of the game, as they can greatly influence how your run plays out. Upon opening a white or red chest, you can obtain an artifact. These artifacts can belong to any of the three attributes and come with passive effects, such as allowing you to tank a hit after opening a chest, increasing your Power accumulation, and much more.
While an Eclipse is active, these artifacts can come with a negative effect, similar to the parasites in Returnal. These can cause your weapon to jam when taking damage or increase your dash cooldown, so you should be careful when picking corrupted ones.
If you keep picking artifacts of the same attribute, you may reach Attribute Volatility, where you can no longer increase that stat normally. However, Volatility allows you to break past the cap. Going beyond the cap also comes with side effects, so you must consider whether it is worth continuing the run without seeing enemy health, being unable to see corruption effects, and similar drawbacks.
Acolyte's Wager
Acolyte’s Wager is a reroll item that does not appear right from the start, but when it does, you will usually find it inside white containers. This item allows you to reroll a main weapon, power weapon, or artifact that you find in chests. This is especially useful when you are aiming for specific attributes on an artifact or want a particular weapon.
Even though you won’t find many Acolyte’s Wagers in the early biomes, you can unlock certain nodes in the Armor Matrix that allow you to start a run with a reroll in your inventory. This number can go up to five. If your inventory is full of artifacts, you can also use rerolls to remove ones you don’t need and make space for better options.
