Hollow Knight Silksong Lace Boss Guide

Lace HK Silksong Fight Strategy

While the battle with Lace is fast-paced, she can be easily defeated with the right timing of strikes and dodges. Just like any other boss, one of the most important things to look out for is when she's staggered. Hornet can get in around three to four strikes (maybe even five, depending on your distance) when Lace is staggered. Lace can use five attacks in total. Between each attack, there is always a window of opportunity to strike. Use these moments to get a hit in and dodge after.

If you're out of Lace's attack range, she will almost always use Forward Slash and Aerial Slash to minimize the distance between you. Once she points her weapon at you, get ready to move backwards or jump over her Forward Slash. You can't strike her head on since she'll just pierce over you. There's a period after she attacks where she'll do a pose; you can use this to damage her.

Whenever Lace uses her Aerial Slash, it's best to wait until she's above ground to move. You can either dash below her or cover more distance away from her. After a brief moment, Lace will strike downwards at an angle. Once she's on the ground, there's a tiny momentum going on where she'll slide on the platform and perform a pose again. You can use this time to strike her. If you're too far, you can opt to use Hornet's Straight Pin or Silkspear.

If you see Lace crouch on the ground with her weapon covering her, she's going to Parry Slash. Look for the shiny effect after she parries you; if you're near her striking range, she'll move towards you and use a multislash. You can use your long-range attacks here for a safer exchange. You'll have to be wary of this attack since taking on the full multislash damages your health by two.

Lace can also use Double Slash. Once she tips her weapon on the ground, this means she's going to use a Double Slash. You'll need to have a good reaction time here since the combat is fast-paced. It can be hard to see the indicator leading to a Double Slash. It isn't recommended to jump over her Double Slash since its trajectory is upwards. Your best bet is to move backwards and wait it out or use your long-range attacks. There are also instances where Lace adds another strike at the end.

If Lace opts to use the Sphere Slash, she'll charge for a brief moment and will teleport inside the sphere and strike multiple times. You'll have to move out of range of the bubble she created to evade this one. Once she hits the ground, you can strike her, then move away to prepare for her next attack.

It's also good to take note that you can push Lace off the ledge and into the lava. Unlike the previous demo, Lace will jump to the platform if she falls. You can see where she'll land based on her after-image effects. Continue to strike her and capitalize on her staggered moments, and she can easily be dealt with.

Lace Boss Attacks & Counters

Aerial Slash

Aerial Slash is a two-part attack where Lace slashes while leaping in the air at a 45-degree angle, and kicks diagonally towards you at the same angle. Aerial Slash covers a lot of range, so be sure to check your distance. To counter this, whenever Lace is going to use the Aerial Slash, you'll see her charge up her weapon across her body for a bit. This is an indicator that she's going to use an Aerial Slash. You can either move backward to cover the distance or move underneath Lace when she jumps. While Lace is airborne, you'll see her stay in place for a bit before committing to the second part of the attack. Depending on where you are, whether you're far or just underneath her, she'll do another 45-degree attack towards Hornet.

Forward Slash

If you see Lace point her weapon horizontally towards you, it means her next attack is the Forward Slash. Forward Slash is where Lace dashes towards you quickly in a piercing motion. This is a quick attack that covers more than half of the field. While it is fast, it can easily be countered by jumping whenever she Lace dashes or moving backwards outside her reach.

Double Slash

Double Slash is where Lace goes near you and strikes you twice. An indicator for this attack is when you see Lace with her weapon touching the ground. If you're within reach, Lace initiates two strikes at you. After each strike, she moves towards you, so you have to be careful of the strike distance. You can dash backwards to evade her attack and counter with a strike after she finishes.

Parry Slash

If you see Lace crouch for a bit and cover herself up with her weapon, this is an indicator that she's going to parry your attack and counter with a multislash. Multislash happens after you hit Lace while she's parrying and you're still within her range. After parrying, she'll then propel herself forward and attack continuously in the same place. This can easily be countered by dashing away from her after she parries you. You'll also have to be careful of her Multislash, as it can take away as much as two life bars.

Sphere Slash

Sphere Slash is one of Lace's signature moves. This starts whenever you see her charging up. The biggest indicator of this is the white bubble she's creating on the field. After charging, she'll then dance inside the sphere with a multitude of strikes. Luckily, while this is one of Laces's signature moves, it is also fairly easy to dodge. You just have to step outside the bubble's range and wait for her attack to finish.
