Death Blight is a Status Effect in Elden Ring. Status Effects are various buffs or ailments that apply either a beneficial or detrimental effect to the target. Status Effects can typically be applied to both enemies and players alike, however Death Blight only affects other Tarnished. Status Effects are triggered after a buildup meter is filled by repeated application of attacks that cause the effect. Both players and enemies can have varying resistances to a given Status Effect.
Elden Ring Death Blight Guide
Death Blight is a status effect that builds up through repeated application of the effect. Once the meter is filled, the effect triggers and the player will die instantly. Unlike other status effects, Death Blight is only capable of being inflicted on other Tarnished.
Vitality is the main defensive stat that determines your resistance to Death Blight.
- Leveling up increases your defensive stats including Vitality
- Leveling up Arcane increases your Vitality by a larger amount than any other attributes
Death Blight Effects in Elden Ring
- The Death Blight effect build up can be mitigated by raising your Vitality stat.
- When the buildup bar is full, the target suffers Instant Death. The Blight Status Effect works ONLY on players and player-modeled NPCs, enemies and Spirit Ashes. Anything outside that list is completely immune.

- Great-Jar Warrior (random chance when playing online, not present offline)
- Boss
- Death Rite Bird (death screech)
- Deathbird (death screech)
- Divine Beast Dancing Lion at Ancient Ruins of Rauh
- Lichdragon Fortissax
- Lionel the Lionhearted (Fia's champions)
- (Stray) Mimic Tear (if you have Death Blight weapons and/or spells in your inventory)

- Death Blight seems functionally identical to the Curse status effect from the Dark Souls series.
- Ignores the effects of the Sacrificial Twig talisman and the Twiggy Cracked Tear.
