Man-Fly is an Enemy in Elden Ring. Man-Fly is a new enemy that was exclusively added to the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Man-Fly enemies are common in the overworld. They embody both the characteristics of a fly and a man. These enemies will fly around and spit poison, but once they get close enough, they will try to grab and attack you.

These creatures were originally humans who suffered from a metamorphosing illness, transforming them into human-insect hybrids. The disease ravaged their peaceful villages, killing most of the population. The few who survived were turned into man-flies. The illness also appears to make the infected aggressive, causing them to attack on sight.

Lore Items Related to Man-Fly

Fly Mold

A species of fungus known for its deathly sweet stench. Material used for crafting items. Found by hunting man-flies. Cultivated using the flesh and blood of man-flies, it can serve as pot innards.

Man-Fly Ashes

Ashen remains in which spirits yet dwell. Use to summon the spirits of three man-flies. Two of the man-flies attack foes from the air, while the third spits poison from the rear. Afflicted hornsent eventually metamorphosed into a fly-like form. It was believed that the moment the transformation took place, they were relieved from their suffering.

Ailment Talisman

A talisman depicting a soul taken by sickness. When certain ailments are triggered, this talisman grants resistance to the same ailment. When the weak were infected with the dreaded fly sickness, they perished well before the metamorphosis could take hold. Oddly, those who cared for the infected and made certain they were given a proper burial were never afflicted themselves.

Putrescent Mass is a godsend for dealing with these not terrifically sympathetic grab-spamming creatures, initial impact acts as a lure, detonation and spread of the Ghostflame cleans them up quite handily.

      • Never before in the game I felt so disgusted as in my second playthrough when travelling across the man-fly village. Killing these creatures here and there. At some point I felt just sick of this meaningless mass murder. They are unlike most other creatures like shadow undeads, fiends etc even unarmed! Literally Hitler with the greatsword roleplay. Miyazaki why??

From time to time i come back to that little cave in Recluses’ River. There’s three man-flies on the ceiling. Bone bow, Rancor shot. One, two, three. All down on the floor. Unequip Bone bow. Omen Cleaver. Charged R2. One, two. Fast and clean. Not the third. The third one is doing to suffer. Unequip Omen Cleaver. Bare fists. Bludgeon this ****ing pathetic piece of festering **** till you cover yourself entirely with its filthy blood. Till you cover the floor and the walls. The lore says they stop suffering once the transformation is finished. Well, every once in a while I make sure some of them do, as much as possible and a little beyond.

In my efforts to "Git Gud", I've been avoiding using Spirit Ashes outside of Duo Boss Fights. (Otherwise just for kicks).

One encounter with a pack these blights on existence made me whip out my Level 10 Mimic. 09 Aug 2024 10:44 has the right idea

Guide on how to deal with these enemies:
              1. Go to recluses' river downstream (You unlock this area by taking a joyride in a coffin in shadow keep and heading down south from the watering hole)
              2. Go down until you see an opening to the village of flies to your west
              3. KILL!!! KILL!!! KILL!!! KILL!!! KILL!!! EVERY LAST ONE OF THESE PUTRID ****ERS, I HATE THESE LITTLE ****S SO GODDAMN MUCH I HATE BEING STUNLOCKED FOR LIKE 6 SECONDS WHILE THIS GLORIFIED FRUIT FLY SUCKS FLUIDS FROM MY FACE!!! REPEAT UNTIL YOU'VE CLEANSED THIS HELLHOLE OF THESE IRREDEEMABLE SCUM!!!
              Hope this helps!

funny enough Black Flame Ritual works really well with these dipsht, if you hear any sound that these things coming near, just pop one or two then watch them suffer

                    • Anonymous

whoever at fromsoft decided these things needed to come back needs to be turned into one and stepped on immediately

Not a bad enemy until six of them chain grab you to death. They deserve to burn in Messmar flame alongside Cursed beyblade spamming warriors.

Giving them poise was a mistake. They should've just kept them the way they are in DS3 when they reskinned it. Same as giant rats.
