Lore Items Related to Battlemage

Cannon of Haima

One of the glintstone sorceries of the Academy of Raya Lucaria.

Lobs an explosive magic projectile that flies in an arc.
Charging enhances potency.

Drawn from the conspectus of Haima, the adjudicator of the academy, this sorcery employs might as a means to quell conflict.

Haima Glintstone Crown

One of the glintstone crowns bestowed upon Raya Lucaria scholars whose pursuits were deemed worthy.

Increases intelligence and strength to the detriment of FP.

Scholars of the Haima Conspectus sought the power to quell conflict, and to this end studied the sorceries of cannon fire and the gavel.

Battlemage Robe

Robe worn by scholars of the Raya Lucaria Academy, tattered from being worn on the battlefield.

Whenever war broke out and the academy sealed its gates, only Haima's scholars dared venture outside. Seclusion is no way to foster discovery; it is only a convenient form of escape.

Stone Club

Signature weapon of battlemages, hewn from hard glintstone.
This club is much heavier than its size suggests, but has no magic power.

So that they not lose sight of the true essence of combat, battlemages prefer to feel the impact of their blows, fighting their opponents hand to hand.

Battlemage Hugues Ashes

Ashen remains in which spirits yet dwell.
Use to summon the spirit of Battlemage Hugues.

Hugues came from Sellia to study the Haima Conspectus at the academy, where he became a battlemage.
Haima scholars seek to quell conflict with cannon fire and the gavel, but Hugues developed a longing for it.

Dont stay at long distances from these guys, they will spam you to death. Instead, go up to them dodge their pathetic attemp at melee attack and melt them or crush their oversized skull with a good old colossal to the head.

For the goon squad at the haligtree blast the one to your right off the bridge with gransax then faceplant the other one with a greatsword AoW lion’s claw a few times. Boom bam, you’re done.

            • Anonymous

The ones at the Haligtree before Loretta are blind as bats if you're using the elevator shortcut. Seriously just crouch walk past them to the boss fog they don't even notice you.

The 1.5% drop rate for the somberstones has to be cap, I've gotten 4 of them but not a single stone club in the span of about 30 minutes. I farmed near selia hideaway, since the run down from fort faroth is about a minute. About the same travel time in academy crystal cave too but no enemies in your way.

I would love if they dropped their staff as a sort of ultra sorcery staff where you get a lot more power out of spells at the cost of increased casting time. Would be a good homage to how slow these guys are when they cast lmao.

                  • Anonymous

Yknow, despite the fact it's listed there's some in the crystal cave (where you get the smithing stone), I haven't seen a single one.

I died to those two bastards before Loretta more times than to some bosses, they can go **** themselves hard

I like that since they are supposed to quell conflict, they chose to instill fear in others while also focusing on very destructive attacks

This is probably to show their enemies that they have the power to show that they are peaceful, and not harmless

                        • Anonymous

Lion Claw on a hammer will stagger this guy in 2 hits. Then a sweet crit and repeat 200x to get the stone club

“Scholars of the Haima Conspectus sought the power to quell conflict”
Oh cool did they like take a course in effective communication and cultural sensitivity at the Academy? …No? What do you meam they learned to make magic cannon and gavel weapons????

                            • Anonymous

now, there may be some rooms behind secret walls that i still have yet to find, but i'm fairly certain that you don't encounter these guys in Raya Lucaria crystal tunnel (but do please inform me of where they are if i'm wrong)

                              • Anonymous

Ok this is how you beat them: they have different set of skills depending on your range. If you are far, he will fire cometshards and cannon of haima. During cometshards, just run to the side or diagonally forward. Cannon - run straight on him, it misses point-blank. Now when you are close, his moveset changes into fast club attacks and fairly slow gavel spell. Both are ultra punishable. So your strat is to have some mid-range poke skill and to bait melee range attacks. Don't try to punish his range attacks, that's how you die to club to the face.

                                • Anonymous

My fellow mages, you don’t need to respec to beat them. Just put on some light armour (since they usually have high magic resist) and equip the Dark Moon Greatsword our beloved Ranni gave us, two hand it and go to town. You will almost always stagger them before they can land a hit and if you landed a blade beam before getting close you’ll inflict Frostbite and destroy them instantly. Happy hunting

If the ones in the Haligtree are giving you a lot of trouble, use sleep pots, they take a full nap and can even be hit with a critical while they are lying down.

Somebody please update this page, the Battlemage DOES NOT show up at the Raya Lucaria Academy, nor at the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel.

The ones at Haligtree right before Loretta are practically bosses in their own right. Crazy poise for a scarecrow in a robe. Crazy damage resistance and health pool for a scarecrow in a robe. And RIDICULOUS damage, both from the magic and the club.

There is one battlemage standing at the crest of a small hill in the Altus Plateau, and ONLY this particular mage will drop the full set upon defeat. This hill is dead-ahead of you after taking the sending gate at the Forest-Spanning Greatbridge grace.

Quicktip, there's a lift to the left of the entrance to Loretta's boss fight. Run past the 2 mages to get to the lift, and use the grace there. It should be easier to get to the boss room without using up flasks, or having to play chicken on the bridges.

                                            • Anonymous

For the two in Haligtree, Ekzyke's decay from the saftey of the right-side chest-high wall where the elevator comes down. Avoids most of the shots, and just have to roll for haima's cannon when it happens. Screw these two. They were the source of much frustration.

                                              • Anonymous

If you have decent strength the wave of destruction skill with the ruins greatsword staggers them every time and you can hit em again before they recover.

                                                • If you're having trouble (or farming at low levels like me) you can actually stagger these things by using a bleed weapon such as Reduvia. The fact that they resist the buildup a bit works in your favor because it'll proc while they're casting that bullshit hammer spell, which interrupts it outright. Then you can just finish them off.

                                                  • Anonymous

The hammer is the worst. The timing on the roll is really precise or you get hit by the aoe even if the hammer misses you. I was using a Reduvia and eventually figured out how to time the bleed proc to interrupt that cast. Lord knows my dagger-wielding ass wasn't gonna break through the insane poise these things have.

                                                    • Anonymous

Colossal weapons stagger these guys with each hit. I used the royal greatsword with the special ability as well and works like a charm

                                                      • Anonymous

A mage with ranged spells of nuclear proportions, melee hammers the size of a tanker, and poise and armor close to that of a crucible knights, while wearing cloth. All in a tight space. Fun fight!

                                                        • Anonymous

These dudes are actual GigaWizards. Not only do they have strong spells they're super tanky, will poise through almost anything at least once, and will just bash you to death.

                                                          • Anonymous

probably the strongest enemy in the game, no joke, the hammer damage, AoE and Delay is insane, actually high poise, very damaging range spells and can cut your attacks with quick club slaps

                                                            • Anonymous

If you're dying to these in haligtree running past them, you can totally safely run past the one on the middle platform if you're using the left-side shortcut platform. But does anyone know what these guys are weak to? I only had a golden halberd at the time and wanted to try and kill them, but was getting smashed by the haligtree ones faster than I could kill them.

                                                              • Anonymous

Even with all the magic defense I can possibly muster, these guys do WAY too much damage. I had less trouble with Loretta.

                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                  • Anonymous

I hate these guys so much. You'd expect a mage to be squishy but no, these guys channel their strength from the giants and will shrug off blows from greathammers then proceed to turn you into a pancake with 2x gavel bonks or the yolo cannon. The ones in the Haligtree are particularly cancerous since there's TWO of them which can't be stealthed and they like to knock you all over the place (which by the way has hair thin bridges)

                                                                    • Anonymous

Terrible enemy, only one worse are frozen guys from forbidden lands which constantly spam attacks and have lots of hp.

                                                                      • Anonymous
