Great Spears | Elden Ring Wiki

Great Spears are a type of Weapon in Elden Ring. Using Great Spears allow players to deliver devastating blows from remarkable distances at the expense of attack speed and weight, as Great Spears are exceptionally heavy. Great Spears allow for attacking with a shield raised, letting users block and attack at the same time. They are also decent on horseback when compared to other weapons because of their extraordinarily long reach.

Great Spears deal Standard/Pierce Damage, though the base game weapon descriptions do not reflect this.

Only the Lance and Messmer Soldier's Spear can be modified with many different Ashes of War, allowing you to change their Skills and Damage Type. The rest have fixed Skills that cannot be changed.

Great Spears all share the same light attacks. Heavy attacks have a lot more variance, with the Lance, Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear, and Bloodfiend's Sacred Spear having a thrust, Vyke's War Spear, Serpent-Hunter, Siluria's Tree, and Barbed Staff-Spear having a horizontal sweep, Treespear and Messmer Soldier's Spear having a double poke, and Spear of the Impaler having a thrown attack.

Note:Patch 1.14 Increased the attack speed of the uncharged version of the first heavy attack (except Serpent-Hunter).

Shadow of the Erdtree added 4 new weapons for this category: Barbed Staff-Spear, Bloodfiend's Sacred Spear, Messmer Soldier's Spear and Spear of the Impaler.
