Fires a tremendous comet within a starry torrent
|
|
Comet Azur is a Sorcery in Elden Ring. Comet Azur spell creates a giant comet that deals very high damage from a great distance.
Legendary sorcery devised by Azur, primeval sorcerer.
Fires a tremendous comet in a torrent akin to the distant starry expanse, the place said to be the origin of glintstone.
Hold to continue releasing the sorcery's power.
When Azur glimpsed into the primeval current, he saw darkness. He was left both bewitched and fearful of the abyss.

Elden Ring Comet Azur Notes & Tips
- Once cast, the player channels for approximately 3 seconds and fires a very long beam-like comet dealing magic damage to all enemies on the way. The player can keep channeling to continue firing the comet, draining large amount of Focus Points. Once cast, the direction of the beam cannot be adjusted.
- End of beam is capable of flinching/knocking lesser enemies
- Beam itself deals low stance/guard damage
- AI acts weird, when facing this spell as they roll around sometimes even into beam They react to casting animation, not what this animation creates, thus making Comet Azur somewhat usable against bosses that can dodge, most notably Tarnished-type enemies (but to a limited degree)
- There is an exception in this behaviour in form of Malenia, Blade of Miquella, as she dodges away from this spell and tries to approach the caster from a safe path.
- This spell is channelled, not charged, and therefore does not benefit from Godfrey Icon.
- Its damage can be boosted by 15% by wearing Azur's Glintstone Crown. This comes at the cost of a 15% increase to ALL sorcery costs.
- Very slow casting time, that can be easily stopped.
- Azur's Glintstone Staff combined with Radagon Icon shortens cast time significantly at a cost of increased FP consumption, what can be mitigated with Primal Glintstone Blade.
- Cerulean Hidden Tear allows the player to continue channeling without consuming FP, as spell has no stamina consumption outside first part of the spell.
- This spell has the third highest Intelligence requirement of all sorceries. In exchange, it is capable of dealing massive amounts of damage from long-range to targets that stand on the comet. Due to its very high FP consumption, the player will require high levels of Mind or usage of the Cerulean Hidden Tear to make the most of this sorcery. As the beam cannot be adjusted once cast, this spell will only work against slow-moving enemies or very large ones, such as Mohg, Lord of Blood, or Erdtree Avatars.

AnonymousNever found the use for this. 99% of enemies will move just a little after being hit and the damage does nothing then.
I'm suffering by doing my first run of the game as a mage and it sucks so far.

AnonymousIf you spent more than a decade parrying/riposting through DS1-3 and posture breaking through Sekiro, this is a hilarious thank you. Very seriously funny. Someday I'll do a Comet Azure *only* run.

AnonymousMind boggling that people think this is op. Sure, it anhilates some stuff with a specific build, but that can be said about everything in the game. In fact this is countered by just moving a bit. So how are people so butthurt about this spell? I hope they never have to see dark bead, or they might spontaneously combust

AnonymousHow to be the Death Star
Step 1. Godskin fat man set
Step 2. Any staff you want
Step 3. This spell
Step 3.5. (Optional) find Jedha
Step 4. Find Alderaan
Step 5. Commit genocide

Anonymousoh this spell is so cool anyways(turns back to sword of night and flame)

AnonymousKilled the Turtle Pope within one FP bar with this, that was funny af

AnonymousI dont think this spell is as good as people say it is, yeah if you're using like a summon then you can obliterate a boss easy or a strong enemy that doesnt know you're there while you're casting terra magica and 300 different buffs before casting this ****, i feel like if you use this against a boss without a summon you're gonna do like 2k damage and then get smacked.

AnonymousImagine if all the people complaining about a slow and cumbersome spell that takes ages to cast but shreds a handful of bosses played dark souls 1 and found dark bead. They'd probably stop complaining.

Anonymousreally powerful spell. just level int and destroy all the bosses. If you find the spell and you are a caster, you beat the game.

AnonymousActually pathetic losers trying to defend that beating mohg in 10 seconds is a fair and fun way to play. What is your logic behind it besides "just let people play how they want!"

Anonymousngl im thinking about using this and darkmoon great sword for a fun pve build

AnonymousYou like Comet Azur because it's good, I like Comet Azur because it's just blue raspberry-flavored Master Spark. We are not the same.

Anonymousmy dear sweet baby fetus boy who is only one hour hold just beat his favorite shard bearer, mohg lord of blood, with just one spell (comet azur) I am so so so proud of him and as a reward I have given him 15 minutes with which he can browse the fextralife elden ring forums and discuss the game with likeminded fans! I hope nobody is going to be mean to him or criticize his methods of playing the game since he is a 1 hour old baby :)) so proud of him for beating mohg with comet azur!!

AnonymousYou didn't beat Mohg if you used this. Sorry but it's true. If you leveled int, you beat the game, along with dex, strength, faith or arcane. You beat the game if you used spirit ashes and co-op. But this? Sorry, you didn't beat Mohg.

AnonymousDesperately needs a range buff aswell as aimability similar to crystal torrent. Afterall this is supposed to be the pinnacel of comet sorcery, but currwntly it's (outside of a few exception wherin it's busted af) just ****, imo

AnonymousThis is the sole reason there are still idiots out there calling intelligence easy mode and I hate it for it.
Anyway, pretty good spell overall
AnonymousWish we got an aim-able version that rennala does, but only lasts 2-3 seconds and can't be held to last longer.

AnonymousIs this page not about Comet azur? Why the hell is everyone talking about Night Comet!?

Anonymousin the latin american spanish translation this thing has a completly different name

Anonymous
AnonymousMakes Malenia a piece of cake. Once she enters phase 2 dodge the scarlet aeonia attack and blast away as she is stuck in that position for a while.

AnonymousOne of the most overhyped spells in ER. I feel like most people who talk about it never used and have only seen a few clips of it cheesing a few bosses. And that's about all it's good for. Like 15 or 20 bosses (so ~10% of them) will let you blast them with Comet Azur. Everything else either has too small of a hitbox to hit consistently, moves out of the beam after 2 ticks or just delivers you your Golden Order ordained oneshot as you sit there defenseless. On any encounter in which the boss is not going to hand you the win on a silver platter you're better off using Night Comet as it will actually hit the enemy and not get you killed while dealing a crapload of damage and consuming next to no FP.

Anonymouswas it range nerfed since release? It was one of the best distance spells, not I feel like night come has more range than this...

Anonymous
AnonymousIn my entire playthrough, there was exactly one situation where this spell was the best option. There's a room in Nokstella where you will be trapped with an Indy ball if you enter, and Comet Azur has those little damage ticks and good overall output to stop and kill that one in one cast. I still needed Physick and all my FP though. In every other situation, targets just move into or out of the beam, or they are one pixel too high or one inch too far away, or some imp excrement will block it, or maybe it's only scaling properly above 100 int or on NG+9, and even *if* the entire spell goes through, I think the FP and cast time would still be better invested in a chain of comets or a stack of rocks.
Also, the casting animation is so flashy that you can lose sight of what your enemy does.
Absolute braindead in PvE, f*cking awesome in PvP, where you need true skill to hit one of those

please just use crystal torrent instead
it costs less fp and is harder to dodge because the spell tracks and fires at enemies while being used
A question about this spell if anybody knows; as per it's description on the wiki the spell is channeled (as opposed to charged, fired, and forgotten) and with my own use of it I'd say it does tick-damage (rather than 1 instance of massive damage). So the the question then is; for the purpose of enemy resistances, does each individual tick of damage count as it's own unique instance or does the sum-total of the spell for however long the beam is impacting an enemy count as a single attack?

Anonymous
Anonymous
AnonymousI use this to blast the people who say that this requires no skill

Anonymousdidn't find terra magicka until like NG+2, spell was perfectly capable of nuking bosses without it lmao nerf is sad but not world ending, the hidden tear change is oof though

AnonymousI was fighting Gaius, He was very annoying, so I summoned some spirit ashes and proceed to Azur Nuke him while he was distracted with them. Succeed.

Anonymous
AnonymousNerf list for Comet Azur after DLC release(patch 1.12).
Jelly shield from 20% to 12.5%
Terra magica from 35% to 22.5%
Cerulean (0 FP use) from 15 sec to 10 sec
You can still nuke mohg with this easily. its a little messy tho so i summoned my girls to distract him while i fired away. Used cracked magic tear instead of infinite fp tho.

Anonymousspell is dead, specially if u play on dlc. good luck finding a boss where u can stand idle for 8 second to blast this spell.

Anonymous
Anonymousin my experience, you can still do the comet azur cheese against DLC bosses, provided you have a summon to pull away the aggro momentarily.
but after the nerfs to terra magica and the cerulean tear, it’s now less so a start-of-fight delete button and more of a half health/phase 2 finisher.
AnonymousWith the nerf to Terra Magicka and Cerulean Tear this spell took a hit in usefulness. No more Mohg deleting

AnonymousThe Mohg destroyer. Bro just lets you set up and then eats the entire beam as he struts towards you

Anonymouselden ring ? more like noob ring. nobody understands the value of a good beam these days. why game developers insist on making bosses who move around is beyond me. especially bosses who are giants and should obviously move extremely slowly as they fight gravity and the atmosphere

AnonymousBe a shame if you attacked my FULLY OPERATIONAL BATTLE STATION

Anonymouswhat about bloodboil aromatic's buff? just says attack and not physcial

AnonymousMy thoughts: it's good, but it requires 60 INT so you have to sacrifice most other stats if you want to use it earlier. It also lets you absolutely destroy everything in your path if you choose, assuming you have high FP and stamina to cast the sorcery.
TL;DR: is good but may be bad if you try to use it too early.
Anonymous
Anonymousyou use it to one shot bosses.
I use it since it's godzilla's atomic breath.
we are not the same.
AnonymousAt least in my experience, if you don't have a summon or a spirit to aggro bosses, this spell is much more of a pain to use compare to just spamming regular comet. And even if you do, bosses can just move away making you waste a lot of time and mana. It's quite fun when you actually do pull it off though

AnonymousMimic tear, Terra magica+Every sorcery dmg talisman
Have fun

AnonymousThere are only two viewpoints on this page: “ this is an absolute beast” or “ this spell sucks ass against everything except really slow bosses.” There is no medium ground. No in between.

AnonymousKamehameha is kinda ass unless you use it with infinite FP tear. It melts bosses, but aside from that?Yeah, aside from that it's a bit useless.
Overally good, 8\10, exactly what it should be. A highly-specialized 3-slot spell focused on doing only one thing and doing it well, at the price of versatility. Still kinda ass without the infinite FP tear tho. And against anything that can move to the side. And anything that is not distracted by summons\doesn't has giant openings.
AnonymousCame out of this wiki page with some salt for my fries and an expert gatekeeper for my house

AnonymousNOOOOO YOU HAVE TO FIGHT BOSSES WITH A STICK YOU CAN'T JUST CAST A SPELL AT THEM YOU STUPID WIZARD

Anonymous>mages ever use anything else besides this and few other spells like Comet
Kekw, dude is literally has like 10 iq. In reality this spell is a meme nobody uses it aside from aginst very slow moving bosses. But even morg usually just dodge it with attack animation if you don't time it perfectly.
AnonymousAlways funny when people cry about other people using this against bosses. Just don't use it if you don't like it. But you can't force others to not use it.

AnonymousI wonder if mages ever use anything else besides this and few other spells like Comet and Simp's Dark Moon

Anonymous
AnonymousThree slots!? Let me tell you something, you greedy little sorcery. For 60 INT, and taking up 3 spell slots, I wanna see the item description FOR REAL.
"Fires a tremendous comet within a starry torrent"
For that much cheddar, I wanna see actual Torrent going through my targets. That's right. My Goddamn Spectral Steed, all up in your business.
Anonymous
Anonymousrange is only 33.5 meters. even the glintstone pebble from raya lucaria enemy surpasses this.
Rennala's comet azur travels 360 meters, by comparison.
fromsoft has a habit of giving extremely short range to player magic and extremely long range to enemies.

AnonymousBoth over-rated and over-hated.
If the boss is slow, easily distracted by Spirit Ashes or just likes doing big dumb dramatic animations, yeah, pop Cerulean Hidden Tear and delete the poor fool. If the boss doesn't like giving you giant openings, casting this is inviting death and you'd be better off throwing a Full Moon opener and throwing a fast cast spell like Comet for the rest of the fight.
It's a niche spell, but it performs extremely well in that niche. Hardly the only spell you'll ever need, but not nearly as useless as some people want to pretend it is.
Anonymous
AnonymousSo.. seems like finishing Sellen's questline and choosing to help her fight Jerren is required to obtain Comet Azur.

Step 1: become dragon.
Step 2: spam this and some fire breathing incantations.
Step 3: be midir
Anonymous
AnonymousI was shocked when Radagon was able to block this. But I really shouldn’t tho. His ex must have slapped him with this once or twice.

AnonymousPeople say this is only useful for bosses standing still for 10 seconds. But I find it pretty useful against some non-boss strong foes. The Crucible Knights at Farum Azula and Cleanrot at Haligtree are so much easier with this. No need to use hidden tear. They are usually annihilated when you have to drink blue juice.

Anonymous
Could be wrong, but I heard this spell was nerfed? (Could be some other really strong one.. idk exactly)
Anyone can tell me if thats correct and if so, if its still the strongest or at least viable to use
AnonymousPOV: some boss that decided that it would stand still for five seconds to long

Why is Rennala allowed to move the spell but we can't ????
