The Carcosan Eclipse is one of the biggest mysteries in Saros, shaping everything from the world’s atmosphere to its core progression loop. The eclipse isn’t just a visual backdrop; it also introduces more vicious variants of hostiles that inflict Corruption. While dealing with powerful enemies that reduce your maximum HP with every strike sounds daunting, Lucenite drops per enemy will also be increased. So, it's more like "the higher the risk, the greater the reward" situation. This guide will go over everything that changes with Eclipse in Saros.
Saros: How to Farm Lucenite Fast
Lucenite in Saros allows players to get Armor Matrix upgrades that unlock permanent stat boosts, here are all the ways you can farm it quicker.
How Does Eclipse Work in Saros?
As you're exploring a Biome, Arjun will eventually come across a pedestal with arms protruding from the base. It's a mandatory mechanic at most levels that will transform the vivid map into an ominous orange hue. But it's not the landscape that's changed, but also the enemies.
Increased Enemy Difficulty & Corruption
Monstrosities in the level will become faster and hit players harder with their projectiles. In addition to regular blue projectiles that can be absorbed by the shield, enemies can also shoot yellow projectiles that will cause corruption buildup on Arjun. Every time you get hit with corruption-infused projectiles, Arjun's maximum health will keep decreasing until you're sent back to The Passage.
Artifacts Get Rolled with Debuffs
In addition to the enemy difficulty and corruption, the artifacts you'll receive will also come with debuffs. Usually, artifacts you find on normal runs boost your stats while granting an ability for Arjun's survival.
The Eclipse artifacts will either reduce values in one stat in exchange for higher values in another, or simply apply a flat debuff on Arjun, like reducing his max HP, increasing dash recharge time, or causing Lucenite loss on damage received. It'll be up to you which debuffs you can adjust your gameplay around, and which ones to skip picking up entirely.
Tips on Surviving Eclipse in Saros
Now that you know what gameplay changes occur when you activate Eclipse in a Biome, let's talk about how you'll survive the ordeal. While you won't need to drastically change your gameplay style, some tips will help you overcome the difficulty curve and survive the harrowing Eclipse in Saros.
Unlock Shield Amplifier Skill
Shield Amplifier will enhance your shield so you can also absorb Corruption projectiles alongside blue ones. This won't stop the corruption buildup on Arjun, but it will at least power up your Adrenaline meter and allow you to use Power Weapon more often.
Remove Corruption Timely
It's important to remove all the corruption buildup on Arjun in a timely manner to restore your Max HP and improve your survivability in the Eclipsed zone. The two primary ways to remove corruption in Saros are either by using your power weapon (L2 + R2) or by unlocking and using the parry skill.
Pick & Choose Negative Artifacts
As I've discussed earlier, you'll come across artifacts with debuffs during Eclipse sections in Saros that act more like a double-edged sword. You'll need to think for a second before picking one up, ensuring the debuffs are something you can safely alter your playstyle around, or make it work to your advantage.
Unlock Second Life Ability
This might just be one of the most important abilities in Saros that you can unlock as early as the first biome. It works as the name suggests. You'll get an additional life, allowing Arjun to get back on his feet after being downed by an enemy once. Make sure to preserve your second life for the toughest of encounters, like a boss room.
Activate Corruption Reduction or Cleanse Modifiers
If you're having too much trouble with the difficulty curve of Eclipse sections, feel free to turn on Carcosan Modifiers, namely Corruption Reduction or Corruption Cleanse. The former reduces the corruption buildup from projectiles, while the latter lets you remove corruption quickly.
