Stonesword Key is a Key Item and optional Keepsake in Elden Ring. Stonesword Key can be used to break one imp statue seal. Key Items in Elden Ring include a wide variety of items found in specific locations or are given by a related NPCs which are used to unlock areas, quests, and to further progress the game's story.
A sword-shaped stone key.
Breaks the seal on imp statues, but remains embedded in the statue after use, meaning it can only be used once as an item.

Limgrave
Where to purchase
- Sold by Patches at Murkwater Cave after he sets up his shop.
Where to find
- Held by a corpse at Dragon-Burnt Ruins, next to the main arc, in a room with a Giant Rat.
- Can be found at Stormhill Shack right next to the Site of Grace.
- Held by a corpse within Fringefolk Hero's Grave, on a platform above the chariot.
- Stormveil Castle: Can be found in a same hidden underground room with a mini-boss that drops a Golden Seed, this hidden area can be accessed by an open window right above Imp Statue fog door where you find the Iron Whetblade, which can be accessed from rooftop area near a bomb eagle.
- Stormveil Castle: One can be found on a platform over a messhall with Grafted Scion mini-boss
- Stormveil Castle: Can be found on a corpse inside a building section with a broken roof, accessible from the top of the Rampart Tower
Weeping Peninsula
Where to purchase
- Can be purchased from the Isolated Merchant for 2,000
Runes each. He can be found in his shack at the very west of the Weeping Peninsula. Stock: 3.
- Can be bought from the Nomadic Merchant at the eastern side of Weeping Peninsula, for 2,000 Runes.
Where to find
- Castle Morne: From the "Behind the Castle" Site of Grace, walk down towards the west back onto a section of the castle and look to the left to find a wooden platform. The key is found on a corpse hanging from this platform.
- Can be found on the Bridge of Sacrifice. It is on the ground next to a wooden barricade at the southern end of the bridge.
- Can be found in the north east of the Weeping Peninsula on a body sitting in a chair.
Caelid
Where to purchase
- Can be purchased from the Nomadic Merchant in south Caelid for 4,000 Runes.
Where to find
- Found on a corpse sitting on a ledge connecting two buildings in Sellia, Town of Sorcery.
- One found on a corpse in Gaol Cave.
- South of the Deep Siofra Well Site of Grace, near the cliff.

Liurnia of the Lakes
Where to purchase
- Can be purchased from the Isolated Merchant near the Main Academy Gate for 3,000 runes (stock: 3)
Where to find
- Academy Crystal Cave: Head to the left to where the Sages are, and enter the next room. You will find it inside a cage.
- Looted from a fountain, center of Raya Lucaria Academy's courtyard.
- Found in Raya Lucaria Academy through an Illusory Wall just before the Site of Grace at Debate Parlor.
- Found within a chest, in one of the small islands next to the Raya Lucaria Academy.
- Held by a sitting corpse outside the Academy, beneath the bridge.
- Held by a dead body sitting on a chair in East Liurnia of the Lakes.
- Found atop the Frenzied Flame Village outer walls.
- At Caria Manor, on top of the rampart guarded by a Giant Crab.
Mt. Gelmir
Where to purchase
- Can be purchased from the Nomadic Merchant in Mt. Gelmir for 5,000 Runes.
Where to find
- Found on a corpse under a burnt tree near the cliffs north of Fort Laiedd in Mt. Gelmir.
- Held by a corpse lying on the stairs within the Volcano Manor area.
- Found at the exit of Rya's room in Volcano Manor, reachable through the window.
- Found behind an illusory wall, in the same room where you fight an Axe Skeleton, within Sage's Cave.
- Found on a corpse on a broken bridge near Corpse-Stench Shack.
Altus Plateau
Where to purchase
- Sold by the Nomadic Merchantin West Altus Plateau for 4,000 Runes. Stock: 3.
Where to find
- The Shaded Castle. Found on a body on a stone ledge, reached by traversing the rocks leading from the wall all the way to the ledge. A set of slugs can be found underneath looking at the body.
- One in a chest in Sage's Cave behind a false wall (North East of Abandoned Coffin Site of Grace).
- Found on a corpse located on a camp northeast from the Grand Lift of Dectus.
Leyndell, Royal Capital

Where to find
- Sealed Tunnel: At the bottom of the chamber with the lift, dispel two illusory walls to the south. In the next chamber, walk on the overgrown root and jump to the right onto the wooden platform below, right in front of a tunnel. Follow the tunnel to find the key on a corpse.
- Inside a chest in a side room of a building with 5 lightning pot throwing peasants. South East of the Avenue Balcony Site of Grace.
- Found on top of a grave guarded by two skeletons and a zombie Northeast of Avenue Balcony Site of Grace.
- Found on a corpse on top of a gazebo south and up two levels from the Lower Capital Church Site of Grace.
- Found on a corpse below West Capital Rampart Site of Grace. Drop down, jump on petrified dragon foot onto barn, then into 2nd story wooden building.
- Auriza Hero's Grave: In the first Chariot Hall, drop down the openings on either side just before the second ramp. In the room below, head west and up the steps then turn right to reach a second Chariot hall where two chariots are running side by side with a short delay between them. As you exit into this hall, turn left to find the key on a corpse between two ramps.
- One can be found on a small shack past the Fortified Manor, west of the Lower Capital Church Site of Grace. You have to jump around in order to reach it. There is a Smithing Stone (6) on that same shack.
- One found in the Aqueducts section of the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds. From the Underground Roadside site of grace, head northeast and drop down into an opening in the ground to enter the aqueducts. From here, head northwest past the rats and look for a tunnel on the right. Follow this tunnel until you see slimes and drop into the hole in front of them. Follow the path all the way to the end to grab the key on a corpse.

Mountaintops of the Giants
Where to purchase
- Sold by the Nomadic Merchantlocated in eastern Mountaintops of the Giants for 5,000 Runes each. Stock: 3.
Where to find
- Yelough Anix Ruins: Found inside a small open structure in the northern section of the ruins.
- Miquella's Haligtree: Two found on the haligtree's canopy.
- One found further in the canopy, at the tip of a branch near a Giant Miranda Sprout.
- Castle Sol: Held by a corpse located on the rooftop within Castle Sol.
- West Mountaintops of the Giants: Held by a corpse sitting on a chair, near the edge of the cliff.
- Guardians' Garrison: Held by a corpse in front of the fort's entrance.
Roundtable Hold
- Can be purchased from Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold for 4,000 Runes, 3 in stock.
- After giving them the Patches' Bell Bearing, you can purchase it for 5,000 Runes. Stock: 1.
- After giving them Abandoned Merchant's or Nomadic Merchant [4]'s Bell Bearings, you can buy them for 2,000 Runes. Stock: 4.
Siofra River & Nokron, Eternal City
Where to purchase
- Can be purchased from the Nomadic Merchant in Siofra River for 2,000 Runes.
- Sold by the Imprisoned Merchant inside the Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum for 5,000 Runes each. 5 in Stock.
Where to find
- Can be found by climbing across a ruin next to the Hallowhorn Grounds. A gust of wind can be found at the edge of the cliff closest to the ruin, boosting you up to the top.
- Mohgwyn Palace: One found on a corpse by the cliffs east of the mausoleum, behind some praying corpses.
- Found on a corpse laying by a ledge overlooking the ruined temple in Nokron, Eternal City with the deer carcass. This ledge is a level lower than the cliff with the spirit jellyfish.

- Found on a corpse next to a Giant Miranda Sprout in northern Uhl Palace Ruins.
- Found on a corpse laying on a ledge overlooking the waters of Nokstella, Eternal City.
Elden Ring Stonesword Key Use
Stoneword Keys can be used to open Imp Statues which contain loot. Stonesword Keys are consumed upon use.
Here is a complete list of all Imp Statues that can be opened with Stonesword Keys:
Limgrave
- Fringefolk Hero's Grave: To access it you need two Stonesword Keys. It can be found near the Stranded Graveyard Site of Grace.
There is a pool full of poison. Run forward and at the end turn right to the stone platform. From there, keep going but you will see a giant mechanical monstrosity coming at you, hide behind the columns on the side to prevent being trampled. In order to get down, use the small rooms or cubbies to advance surely but slowly, notice that there are enemies there. Once you reach the bottom, there's a statue Marika to make things easier while descending, because many enemies will spawn. Once you reach the end. you will enter a boss fight with a Ulcerated Tree Spirit. Defeat it to obtain a Golden Seed and a Banished Knight Oleg. There is a hidden location if you jump down at the beginning of the bridge, there the Erdtree's Favor Talisman can be found. A Stoneword Key can also be found, effectively thus costing you only a single key to access this area. - Tombsward Catacombs requires a Stonesword key to access, players can find a Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [9] past the seal.
- Used to unlock an underground cavern within Summonwater Village that houses the Green Turtle Talisman.
- Can be used to open two locked doors at the Roundtable Hold, the first door will require one Key to open, and the second door behind the first requires two keys to open (You'll need 3 keys in total). You'll find the Assassin's Prayerbook behind the second gate.
Stormveil Castle
- In a cellar room accessible from the main courtyard. Allows access to two treasure chests with Godskin Prayerbook and Godslayer's Seal, as well as a shortcut to the castle gate area.
- A short distance east of the Rampart Tower site of grace. An Iron Whetblade, a Miséricorde and a Hawk Crest Wooden Shield can be found in a room with two axe-wielding enemies.
Liurnia of the Lakes
- Academy Crystal Cave: In order to access it, you need to use a a Stonesword Key.
- Black Knife Catacombs: use to open a room contain Rosus' Axe.
- Cliffbottom Catacombs: use to open a room containing the Nox Mirrorhelm.
Underground
- Used to unlock a room in Night's Sacred Ground that houses the Mimic Tear Ashes.
- Used to unlock a room in Nokstella, Eternal City that houses the Nightmaiden & Swordstress Puppets.
Leyndell, Royal Capital
- Required to enter Auriza Hero's Grave.
Mt. Gelmir
- Required to access Seethewater Cave.
- Two required to access Unsightly Catacombs.
- Required to access the Crimson Amber Medallion (+1) in Volcano Manor.
- Required to access the Dagger Talisman in Volcano Manor.
Consecrated Snowfield
- Required to enter the Cave of the Forlorn.
Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree
- Two used to unlock a room on the outer wall that houses the Triple Rings of Light incantation.
- Two used to unlock a room in the lower levels that houses the Marika's Soreseal.
