Shadow Undead is a Humanoid Enemy in Elden Ring. They are a new enemy type that was added to the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Shadow Undead are among the most widespread and common enemies in the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion and can often be seen in groups across the Lands of Shadow.
These undead beings have their lost souls cursed to roam eternally, with their minds consumed by the curse, retaining only a fragment of their former selves. Some retain faint echoes of their past lives, occasionally displaying fleeting moments of hesitation or sorrow.
Long ago, Queen Marika commanded Sir Messmer to purge the tower folk. A cleansing by fire. It’s no wonder the hornsent holds the Erdtree in contempt.
