Lost Arts is a Main Quest in Diablo 4. Lost Arts can be found at the Mistral Woods. Main Quests are mandatory missions that players must complete in order to finish the storyline and reach the next difficulty level. Main Quests must be done sequentially and are unlocked only after completing the previous Main Quest/s.

Diablo IV Lost Arts Walkthrough
The main quest "Lost Arts" in Diablo 4 becomes available after completing "A Master's Touch". After speaking to Donan, head to the Mistral Woods to find the Horadric Vault.
Inside, you'll find Donan, speak to him to progress the objective. Next, open the sturdy door and talk to Neyrelle to trigger a cutscene. After the argument between Donan and Neyrelle, follow him into the next section of the vault where he will unlock a door.
Proceed inside the gallery and be ready to fight some minor enemies here, proceed northwest to accompany Donan to one of his desks to acquire his notes. In the same room, there's another door that is locked with a magical barrier on the right, approach it and Donan will unlock it, go in, and prepare to fight an Ancient Sage enemy.
Next, head southeast to find the second desk, you'll know you're on the right path when a Spider enemy ambushes you and Donan reacts to them. You can also identify if you're near a desk's location when the quest marker appears on the mini-map. Clear out the spiders and approach the desk inside a small room to collect more of Donan's notes.
You can now proceed to find the last desk which can be located Southwest of the vault, the third desk is swarming with bats, make sure to clear out the area before approaching the desk.
Speak to Donan and after your conversation with him, approach the locked door just on the left side, Donan will break the seal so you can enter, and then return to the study. Speak to Neyrelle to complete the quest, you'll be rewarded with XP and Gold.
