Exhuming the Forgotten is a Main Quest in Diablo 4. Exhuming the Forgotten can be found at Scosglen. Main Quests are mandatory missions that players must complete in order to finish the storyline and reach the next difficulty level. Main Quests must be done sequentially and are unlocked only after completing the previous Main Quest/s.

Diablo IV Exhuming the Forgotten Walkthrough
At the end of Encroaching Shadows, you and Yorin enter the Weeping Cairns [Diablo 4 Map Link] in order to find signs of the druid Airidah. Follow the linear path northeast on the way, you'll be met with groups of Shambling Corpses, Bloated Corpsefiends, and Vengeful Spirits. These enemies are fairly easy to take down, just watch out for the explosions of Bloated Corpsefiends after they are killed.
At the end of the path, you'll find a large circular chamber that splits into 3 paths — forward, left, and right. Head forward to examine the blocked path and speak with Yorin. He expresses his concerns about Airidah's wellbeing and asks you to find a Wardstone that will help him open the path. Two Runic Standing Stones can be found by the blocked path, but one of them already has a Wardstone in it.
To progress, approach the path on the left and interact with the door to open it. Another hoard of Shambling Corpses and Bloated Corpsefiends, as well as an Elite Bloated Corpsefiend, will block your way. You'll notice a fork in the path ahead of you. Continue down any of the paths, as they circle back around to each other. In the middle of both paths is an Overgrown Wardstone Altar. Destroy it to be able to grab the Wardstone, then make your way back to the large circular chamber.
Return to Yorin and place the Wardstone into the empty Runic Standing Stone on the left. This opens the path forward. Continue down the path and interact with the chamber door at the end. In this large room, you'll come across an altar with signs of demonic interactions. Speak to Yorin once again, who'll read the inscription on the altar for you. Shortly after, Two Elite Vengeful Wildwood will appear and attack you. Be careful of their wide swinging arms, and make sure to make use of any crowd control abilities, such as stuns and knockdowns, if you're having trouble against them.
After they've been defeated, interact with the chamber door at the opposite side of the room and follow the path. Hoards of Shambling Corpses, Bloated Corpsefiends, Vengeful Spirits, and another Elite Bloated Corpsefiend will once again attempt to block your path. Interact with the chamber door at the end and head through.
Speak to Yorin after he is done inspecting the druidic runes on the elder's cairn. He'll mention that the runes found on the cairn are proof of Airidah conspiring with the demons. Interact with the final chamber door at the other end of the room and follow the path to reach the exit of the Weeping Cairns, and the entrance to the Ancestor Heights.
Entering the Ancestor Heights concludes Exhuming the Forgotten, and you'll be rewarded with 8,517 XP and 1,260 Gold. The next Main Quest, Harrowed Lament will begin right after.
