Phalar Aluve is a Longsword in Baldur's Gate 3. In BG3, each type of weapon has different ranges, damages, and other properties. Characters need to be proficient before using a weapon, and sometimes gain a special Weapon Actions while holding it.
The drow inscription on this blade appears to have been recently carved. It translates to: "Though I have to leave you, I will dance forever in Eilistraee's light."
Phalar Aluve Location & Where to Find
- Location: Underdark. Can be found at the Altar, near Selunite fort X:119 Y:-191 (need to pass Religion or Strength checks)
Phalar Aluve Notes & Tips
- Rarity: Rare
- Value: 250 gold
- Weight: 1.35 kg
- ID: 6d0d3206-50b5-48ed-af92-a146ed6b98f2
- Singing Sword. Once per Short Rest, as an action, you can use either of the following powers:
- Sing: All allies within 6m gain +1d4 on Attack and Saving Throws (CHA, WIS, INT).
- Shriek: All enemies in 6m are -1d4 on Saves (as above) and take extra 1-4 Thunder damage when hit.
- Duration: 5 turns.
- Performance +1
- One of the very few Finesse two-handers, making it capable of performing Sneak Attacks.
- The "Singing Sword: Shriek" aura effect synergises hilariously well when used with the "Magic Missile" spell.
AnonymousVersatile Finesse weapon that works with Great Weapon Master and Sneal Attacks.
Can provide Concentration free Bless Buff for allies.
Can provide Thunder damage debuff on enemies and is is frequently used in Power Gamer Videos.
Has cool lore.
Isn't Legendary.
Lol Larian.
AnonymousThis weapon totally should be the game's first legendary. It's GREAT and will last from mid act 1 to late game and is a keystone of several builds I played whole runs with.

Anonymous
AnonymousThis weapon is outright amazing and I use it to late game in all my runs.
A versatile + finesse longsword that gives a really powerful party buff or AoE debuff is not easily replaceable. There are so many sinergies this sword can use let's just say it's an act 3 weapon at act 1 and leave at it.
NEVER forget to grab this before leaving act 1 or sell it.
AnonymousI wish any drow was proficient with this weapon, but they are only proficient with shortswords and rapiers by default

Anonymous
AnonymousPaladin can use a charisma check to get it and cleric of Eilistraee can get it without checks

AnonymousIf you are are Lloth Sworn Drow and use the religion option to extract the sword. It stead of the typical "drip blood get sword option" it will state "desecrate Lloth, drip blood get sword". Makes sense given Eilistraee is an enemy of Lloth. This results in atleast one unique dialog choice i have noticed. When speaking with the mindflayer in the myconoid colony, you get a unique drow option that says you've broken free of lloth. I assume selardarine drow also get this option by default.

AnonymousWyll (14 dex/18 charisma) has been using his starting rapier, pact bonded giving him +7 attack roll and lets say 6-15 damage (can't remember exactly).
When I pact bond this longsword to him he only gets a +5 to attack rolls and the damage is 1 minimum damage less (ex: 5-15). So yeah, good for two-handing rogue build, not great for charisma pact weapon. Finesse tag over-writes the pact weapon charisma focus just for this longsword not any others.

AnonymousBeign finess and 2 handed this is a really cool weapon for great weapon master with a rouge sneak attack build. The sing ability also helps negate the downside of GWM making for an even better combo. Would reccomend you can hit some pretty high burst damage early game. 2 levels in barb for reckless attack also helps setup the sneak attack for some meme angry rouge build.

AnonymousIt has explicit Performance +1 Bonus and is a Finesse (DEX) Longsword.

AnonymousPHALAR ALUVE does not work in Versatile mode with Luck of the Far Realms. The same deal with animation during sneak attack

Anonymous
AnonymousThis is finesse so it can be used for melee sneak attacks AND is two-handed so it benefits from great weapon master.

AnonymousShriek + magic missile is disgusting. Use the extra magic missile necklace and reverberation gloves to stack even more onto it.

AnonymousMy Str-monk/rogue-Lae'Zel has sneak attack animation for this, fyi. Bothered me on a dex Astarion.

Anonymous
AnonymousLolth drow clerics have advantage on the ritual check to obtain the sword, but doing the ritual gets special dialogue about pissing off Lolth

Anonymous
AnonymousThere is currently no sneak attack animation for this weapon if you 2hand it. At least not for my duergar arcane trickster.

Despite this being versatile it still benefits from the Duelling fighting style when held one-handed.

AnonymousBound as a Pact Weapon, attack roll still uses dexterity. Probably because finesse overrides Longsword conditions.

AnonymousThis sword can be nicely clutch. My main is a Seldarine Drow, so it makes him having this sword even more meaningful. I headcanon that his mother was a cleric of Eilistraee. That aside, my main is also much more Dex-affiliated so the sword being Finesse is just chef’s kiss.
.
The Shriek option is nice and can really help out, but, I find the Sing option to be the real lynchpin that can save your team. And, since the sword’s Sing/Shriek abilities are non-concentration, it’s even more of a clutch weapon. Love it!
AnonymousFirst playthrough, I'm 45 hours in and everyone has a cool weapon except my main character (college of swords bard)....and then I found this....the joy.... THE JOY!!!!

Anonymous
Anonymousas a cleric of Eilistraee you don't need to make any check, as part of your religion you know exactly what this is and what to do

Anonymous
AnonymousAbsolutely broken with magic missiles spell
Made an elf sorcerer (for longsword proficiency), dual wield feat at lv4, main hand this weapon, off-hand spellsparkler
Prebuff before entering combat with shriek, cast "create water" with shadowheart on the enemy you would like to blow up, and then upcast magic missile on them while you are in shriek range and watch their health bar disappear. from level 5 you can prebuff with haste too, and get 3 upcasted magic missile casts (2 from hasted actions, and 1 from quickened metamagic bonus action cast)
I managed to kill the spectator down in the underdark in a single turn with this strat at lv5, and also "kill" the hag at lv4 in a single turn lol, and its all guaranteed damage
To really make this setup silly, you will probably want to eventually multiclass into 2 levels of fighter (for action surge and armor proficiency + two weapon or defence fighting style)
AnonymousThe buff works while shapeshifted. So activate the buff and shapeshift with your bonus action(moon druid).

The buff does not require concentration and still persists even if you weapon swap to a different melee weapon allowing you precast this, weapon swap, cast a different buff like bless.

Anonymous
AnonymousThis + improved Bless and your party will never miss again. Also, you can change to your range weapon and the effect will still be ongoing.

AnonymousMy Sword College Bard was very happy to find that this has the finesse property despite being a longsword. It's also versatile like a normal longsword so you can have a finesse weapon that's 2-handed.

AnonymousNote: Dialog will not occur if you are carrying a Sussur Bloom or under the effects of Sussur flower antimagic field

AnonymousShriek procs on any attack instead of just sword attack... which makes basically all your team deal additional d4 on every hit. If you think it might be a damn lot with dual wielding and extra attacks, you'd be right.

AnonymousI have been experiencing a glitch where Sneak Attacking with this sword 2-Handed will freeze my character for a moment before applying damage without playing an attack animation. Can anyone else confirm this as a repeatable glitch?

Anonymous
AnonymousIf somehow the oath is broken and you want to get it again, pass the tests by taking out this weapon and the oath comes back, without having to spend the 2000

AnonymousKinda wish this sword had a bit more to it than just a +1. It's a named sword with a backstory. But it's identical to the regular +1 longsword

Anonymous
Amazing weapon but bugged, making it even more powerful than it's description
