Torch is one of the Simple Melee Weapons in Baldur's Gate 3. In BG3, each type of weapon has different ranges, damages, and other features (Finesse, Versatile, Dippable, etc). Characters need to master certain Proficiency before using a weapon, and sometimes gain a special Actions while holding it.
A deep oily smell wafts from this crude tree branch.

AnonymousCan be dipped in fire for a Burning (Permanent) effect. Unsure what this means and the 1d4 fire damage isn't showing up anymore as of patch 6. This is the day of release so I'm unsure if it's a new change or not

AnonymousGreat for Druid as you can cast Shillelagh on it and it does 1d8 + 1d4 Fire + Wisdom modifier and it's a both a source of light and fire to boot which is just amazing.

AnonymousApparently you can drop these on the ground and use the "dip" bonus action on it to light your weapon on fire. So if you want to use some other weapon instead of a torch, you can still get that 1d4 fire damage and burning effect, it just lasts a limited number of turns.

AnonymousAn interresting thing to know is that the torch's fire damages part counts as a burn.
So it applies any effect procing on conditions, even tho the burn effect doesn't star on the target.
Allows fun heat builds too with the cinder shoes...

AnonymousCan confirm. I dual wielded them with Lae'zel, and was the best weapon for that until I got the blue quality single handed str weapons. Best thing is burning also increases the fire damage. Arguably overpowered.

AnonymousI do have a tip for this weapon.
Light it on fire and it will dead an additional 1d4 dmg for an infinite amount of time, wich make it better than a longsword/shield build since his min dmg is 2 and max 8
+Light the area
+Still a common weapon
(Great for cleric build)
It replaces weapon when used, then you have to find weapon in your inventory and put it back, really inconvenient, so i removed them from all party members.
Candle is much more useful for setting weapons on fire, less weight, you can put it in bag and bag into hotbar to quickly access candle without searching cluttered inventory. Can't do the same with torch as it gets extinguished sometimes in bag and you can't light it up on the floor.
