Versatile is a Weapon Property in Baldur's Gate 3. Versatile grants weapons the possibility to be wielded with one or two hands. Weapon Properties grant different weapon types, diverse features that are intrinsic to that specific weapon type.

AnonymousCan confirm that a versatile weapon with nothing in the off hand can benefit from the Great Weapon Master feat (also mentioned in the Great Weapon Master page). I have Shadowheart using the Staff of Arcane Blessing and it's hitting like a truck!

Unable to use them in one hand if not wielding a shield in the other, meaning you can’t benefit from the fighter’s Dualist class feature with versatile weapons

does pact from warlock then scale a versatile hammer with charisma instead of strength because i seem to have lost dmg even though my charisma is higher
