Save Location and Backup Instructions for Elden Ring
Windows
- Save Location:
C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\EldenRing\randomnumber\ERS0000.sl2
- Backup Steps:
- Ensure the game is not running or you are at the title screen.
- Copy the file
ERS0000.sl2and place it in a safe location to prevent accidental deletion. - To restore a save, replace the
ERS0000.sl2in the Elden Ring AppData folder with your backup. - If you frequently restore backups, it is recommended to turn off Steam Cloud saves to avoid conflicts.
Linux
- Save Location:
[path to steam directory]/steamapps/compatdata/1245620/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/EldenRing
- Backup Steps:
- Follow the same instructions as for Windows: ensure the game is not running, copy the save file, and replace it as needed.
- Consider turning off Steam Cloud saves if restoring backups frequently.
PS4/PS5
- Backup Steps:
- Ensure the game is not running.
- Navigate to Settings on your console.
- Go to Saved Data and Game/App Settings.
- Choose the type of game (PS4 or PS5 version of Elden Ring) and select Sync Saved Data to disable it for Elden Ring.
- On the main screen, highlight the Elden Ring application, press the Options button, and select Upload/Download Saved Data.
- Select Upload to save the data to the cloud.
- Restore Steps:
- Close the game.
- On the main screen, highlight Elden Ring, press the Options button, and select Upload/Download Saved Data.
- Choose Download to retrieve the saved data from the cloud.
