When make your way to the church, you can ride on horseback southeast, following the direction of the lake on your map. You may encounter Borealis the Freezing Fog, who lingers at the outskirts towards the entrance of the church, but despite the encounter, you can choose to not engage in combat. He is an optional boss though, and defeating him will reward players with additional Runes and a Dragon Heart.
If you continue in the same direction, you will eventually come across the small ruins of the church. It will be surrounded by Spirit Jellyfish. Go ahead and active the Site of Grace, then head to the centerpiece statue and obtain the Sacred Tear. At the short cliff overlooking the church, left of the entrance, head up the tip to obtain x3 Smithing Stone (7) Elden Ring Map Link. In this area, players can also obtain a Key Item, Somberstone Miner's Bell Bearing (3) Elden Ring Map Link, which unlocks Somberstone (5) and (6) upgrade materials sale at the Twin Maiden Husks in the Roundtable Hold. Found in a corpse just outside the First Church of Marika. There are no other points of interest in this location.

- The church sits in the Mountaintops of the Giants and survives only as ruins — there is no interior to explore.
- It is the marker most players use to find the Weeping Evergaol, which lies just down the hill to the northeast and holds the Ancient Hero of Zamor.
- Despite the name it is unrelated to the Fourth Church of Marika in the Weeping Peninsula, which is a separate site entirely.
