Rivers of Blood is a Katana in Elden Ring. The Rivers of Blood scales primarily with Strength, Dexterity, and Arcane and is a good Weapon for mid-range combat and it is capable of inflicting both Slash and Pierce attacks. The scaling was fixed in an update
Weapon of Okina, swordsman from the Land of Reeds.
A cursed weapon that has felled countless men.
When Mohg, the Lord of Blood, first felt Okina's sword, and madness,
upon his flesh, he had a proposal, to offer Okina the life of a demon, whose thirst would never go unsated.

Elden Ring Rivers of Blood Notes & Tips
- Weapon Skill: Corpse Piler
- Cannot be infused with Ashes of War
- Cannot be enchanted with Magic nor boosted by Consumables.
- Causes Blood loss Buildup:
(50) - Despite the D scaling in Arcane, the damage gain is comparable to Dex but splits more into Fire. In addition, more arcane increases bleed build up. In summary, this weapon is reasonably viable on a pure Dex or pure Arcane build.
- Sell Value:
500 - Corpse Piler has the same animation as Double Slash, but longer range and adds more Bleed Build Up than is listed on the weapon
- Corpse Piler deals both Physical and Fire Damage
- Rivers of Blood is most likely inspired by Muramasa, a swordsmith in Japan from the 16th century. Legend says that Muramasa's swords were cursed and demonic in power, causing bloodlust to those who wield it.
- NOTE: As of Patch 1.08, Katanas poise damage has been reduced only on PVP.
- NOTE: As of Patch 1.09, the scaling values of this weapon were changed. Please refer to the Upgrades Table of this weapon below.

Anonymousis this good purely for pve? doing an ng+ run currently rocking eleanoras weapon and looking for something a bit stronger

Anonymouspeople used to try to convince you that a nagakiba buffed with bloodflame blade was somehow more honest than this

AnonymousI really do not get nerfing this weapon for PvE, PvP is whatever, who cares, fine, it's not like it's any good anyway, but why curb stomping something this hard when realistically you can only get it literally 80% through the game anyway? Both final bosses are even immune to bleed ffs.

AnonymousThis went from top 3 katana to a bottom 3 katana. Dragonscale Blade is the only one inferior. No status, it has a bad aow with a buff that falls off in the lategame and is short. Nagakiba does better in every metric and can equip a good aow- like not double slash. Serpentbone is long, has the multi hit R2, good AR, isn't as reliant on status and can buff with deadly poison procs. Sword of Night is THE multi hitting combo katana with an aow that can be followed with a tap R2 and has anti guard on it. Moonveil is still Moonveil. Meteoric Ore Blade has a fast R2 and high AR. Star Lined has an amazing aow made of multiple inputs so you can use it in smaller punishes. Hand of Malenia is obscenely long, good dex scaling and aow that microstaggers to death by stunlock and melts bosses when it can be done fully. The Uchigatana has some of the greatest build versatility any weapon has in the game. Rivers is just not good and easily the most boring of it's class, which is worse than being bad imo.

AnonymousIf you used this and didn't kill Elden Beast, then, you didn't beat the game.
But if you used this and killed Elden Beast, then, you did beat the game.
Conclusion: use whatever you want. You are free to do whatever you want on a game that you have paid to have a copy. Don't let anyone change your mind, as you are an independent being that can think for yourself.
AnonymousI feel like the skill should be called rivers of blood, not the weapon

AnonymousI really enjoy killing all the dirty noobs with this. Whoosh whooosh whoooooooosh. Yall need to git gud. Ez game

AnonymousA host using this, wearing the white mask, and his co op phantom wearing the radahn set.
Oh yeah, it's parrying time
AnonymousIts funny that even all these years later, this weapon still makes mentally ill, terminally online losers upset.

Anonymous"Once you've used rivers of blood in 2026, you'll never stop wanting to beat pvp players to death with your bare hands."

I parried the Ash of War three times in a row without riposting the guy just to see what he'd do. Guess what was his next move?

AnonymousAt this point, even in 2026, I feel like the only way of justifying using this weapon in PvP is if you’re running a “SHOW ME A GOOD TIME JACK” build, but still pretty fun to use I’d say. Just lighten up on the L2 a bit and you’ll be fine.

Honestly, wouldn't be surprised if this was a reference to bloodborne too. In the DLC there's an unnamed location called the "River of Blood" that goes to the "Underground Corpse Pile".

Anonymous
AnonymousI have just beaten the fire giant. I have just read that Bloody Finger Okina will not spawn after killing the fire giant... Is this true...

Anonymous
AnonymousThe more time it passes, the more you want to stone to death pvp purists.

AnonymousThe Japanese name of this thing is Shizanketsuga (屍山血河), the first part meaning "corpse mountain" and the second "blood river". For some reason, the localization team decided to only use the second part of the name instead of just, y'know… keeping the original Japanese katana name, like with most.

Anonymousif you use this sword the game is so free, it takes all the enjoyment away. It is OP metaslop & is absolutely 0 skill. For everyone who is new, although its a fairly late game weapon, stick to the weapon that you used to get to the rob location, if you want to play the game properly of course.

Anonymousyes bloodflame blade + double slash naga is better, but the vfx of this skill is awesome, and the on hit effect of red fire the RoB has by default is pretty cool.

AnonymousVery fun weapon but I wish the fp cost on corpse piler wasn’t so high

Anonymous
AnonymousThe name Rivers of Blood could be a reference to the famous samurai manga and movie series Lone Wolf and Cub. At the start of the series, when Ogami Itto's wife is killed by the shogun's ninjas, there's an iconic scene where he looks at the viewer and says "they will pay, with rivers of blood!"
I love that series so in my headcanon it is absolutely an intentional reference.
AnonymousBeat the game + DLC with this and it's still really good tbh. Maybe even broken good on some bosses.

Anonymousthis weapon goes great with the white mask, radahn armor, gloves, legs, and the brass shield

AnonymousI have an arcane build that covers most bases, albinauric weapons for poison/bleed, flowerstone gavel for pierce/lightning,
Regalia for burst damage/fast moveset. To me this is just my fire stick that I use to burn trees and hippos
AnonymousHate when my comment doesn't go through. Rivers of blood isn't a direct downgrade from occult/blood nagakiba/uchi with double slash. Rivers of blood can be buffed with fire buffs like flame shrouding cracked tear, fire scorpion charm, and flame grant me strength, and is also boosted by ansbach's set which double slash nagakiba is not. Idk why the mods keep deleting my comments for no reason, it's getting annoying.

Anonymouscool edgy skin for the bleed/occult double slash nagakiba, doesn't really do much else ngl. might be a downgrade lowkey.

AnonymousI love this weapon, it's so common to see when invading and VERY easy to parry L2 spammers

AnonymousStill is really strong on level 200 80 dex 50 arc build, with a dedicated build to this weapon I have seen the AR jump up to 1300 with all the multi hit buffs and flame buffs

AnonymousOkay, I was around level 60-70 when I found out about this weapon. Looked cool af, so I thought that when I reach Mountaintops of the Giant then I might pick it up and use it, then I did pick it up, looked videos about it on the internet, and holy fuk was this weapon hated as crazy, like insane. Everyone kept saying how now it's the worst weapon in game, unusable **** or something. So I kept playing with Bloodhound's Fang, then Eleonora's Poleblade till I beat the game. At this time I really really wanted to try RoB, so I said fk it and fully upgraded this weapon and started using in the DLC, from the beginning to the end I used it and holy fuk did this weapon slapped, not overpowered obviously, but nowhere near as shitty as people said this weapon was, better than Eleonora's Poleblade easily. Imo RoB is a very cool weapon with a sick AoW. Don't listen to the hate comments, use it if you wanna. It will slap.
(People when a weapon doesn't one shot enemies/players from miles away using its AoW now, "unusable trash") Lol
AnonymousKeep it in my back pocket incase anything weak to fire pops up

AnonymousNah you cant lie, this weapon is sick asf. Dont let those memories of release Elden Ring invasions ruin it for you

AnonymousAnother instance of PvP ruining an end game weapon nobody was forcing you to use, I really do indescribably hate them "PvPers" that cry soy tears every time a thing is slightly more OP than it should, go play Dota or something.

Anonymous
AnonymousIf you enjoy having somewhat of a challenge in this game, dont use this (especially for pvp you psychos)

AnonymousCan't stress it enough but they Need to change this weapon back to a position of power. Before anyone gets their panties in a twist here me out. The nerf they gave to this weapon ignoring the past is actually diabolical. This was always meant to be one of the best weapons in the game just for it to be nerfed so hard. Don't get me wrong with the right build it still slaps but this wasn't supposed to be a "good" weapon but a top tier one. Now if I was in charge of changing this weapon back here's what I'd do: As others have suggested keep the AOW power but give it a health draw back. By that what I mean is while the AOW is really strong you pay for it by chipping away part of your health similar to Bloody Slash.

AnonymousJetstream Sam is on screen for about 15 minutes during the base game of Metal Gear Rising, and yet, he was so popular that we find ourselves talking and joking about him on a weapon page for a katana from a completely different game, that kind of looks like the one he had, 12 years later. That's how much of an impact he had. What a legend.

Anonymous
AnonymousMy solution for this weapon: keep the AOW strong, but make it deal small damage chunks or bleed buildup to the user, like Bloody Slash.

Anonymous
AnonymousIt's still great! Passed it to a fresh character and only investing in arcane with the dragon seal. Been a pleasant time

Anonymous
AnonymousUse this weapon only in Honor of the great LetMeSoloHer. In PvP, using its AoW makes you only look dumb

AnonymousIf Rivers of Blood is a normal Katana, then, we should have a Great Katana named Lagoon/Lake of Blood.
...By the way, I hear some people saying Oceans of Blood. I don't think it's good, since Rivers and Lakes are natural water, while Ocean is made of salt water
AnonymousI love L2ing my way through PVE and PVP I'm unstoppable. Take that Internet, slash, slash, slash, slash, Bleed. Point down and tea bag.

Watching children desperately smash L2 with this in pvp is so sad to watch, because you know they do this in pve and are very confused why it's not working when against anyone with an IQ over 60

AnonymousIf the damage of RoB Corpse piler was not nerfed in patch 1.06, but instead received a new, greater HPcost than Bloody Slash, would pve/pvp ers use it? I'm kinda curious

AnonymousCorpse Piler does 330 blood loss buildup at 80 arcane. Occult Double Slash does 350 blood loss at 80 arcane and Blood Double Slash does 475 blood loss. Corpse Piler does 1453 + 1182 + 1033= 3668 damage at 80 dex and 80 arc. Occult Nagabika does 1593 + 1957 + 1246= 4796 at 80 dex and 80 arc. Blood Nagabika does 1411 + 1731 + 1121= 4263 damage at 80 dex and 80 arc. Rivers of Blood has 78 blood loss on it. Occult Nagabika has 85 and 114 on Blood Nagabika. I'm 18 and my girlfriend is 12. The damage on Corpse Piler is even worse when the blade doesn't connect. They have basically the same range. This costs nearly three times as much to cast. Rivers of Blood is only good because of innate arcane that scales up both physical and fire damage for a high AR. The aow is inferior in every way to Nagabika double slash. It has zero hyper armor like double slash does, as well but it can actually go at max range for max damage.

Still holds up for PVE in 2025.

Anonymousbest katana with the best bleed stats making for the best bleed build up

AnonymousHate when people see a single nerf and think the weapon is unusable trash and never actually test it. It's still op for any boss weak vs bleed

AnonymousThis should've been the chaos blade of Elden Ring, each instance of damage dealt to enemies reduces your health by 1%. Imagine mashing L2 and seeing your health bar decreasing rapidly if it worked that way, would be pretty reasonable considering how busted the weapon art is. I would like to see how many Kevins would still use it then

Anonymouswhat is Sta on the Attack Power stand for ? Stamina ? What is that mean ?

AnonymousHost that summons you and spams L2 and then dies in 1 hit starter pack:

AnonymousI use this because reapplying bloodflame blade every minute is a pain in the arse.
Hoping the next dlc will introduce ghostflame/bloodflame/blackflame blade AoW's
they should add also str and faith skaling. i want more damage with my lvl 700 max stats build

AnonymousRivers of Blood doesn't cap at 50 hemorrhage, I'm at 75 hemorrhage with 56 arcane 48 dex

AnonymousI always feel pure cringe when I see people still using this **** in pvp, there are tons of better arcane weapons but you still choose to spam L2 with this used tampon.

AnonymousBloodflame Blade, Nagakiba, Double Slash. All you have to do is meet the dex/fai requirements, kill Yura at the start, and a short visit to sellia and Liurnia. You can do all of this before fighting a single boss, and the weapon retains the length even without ash use.

A reminder that jump attack twinblades or curved swords when blood infused always does more blood loss than Corpse Piler.
