How Riddler Puzzles Work

Each Riddler Puzzle awards a Riddler Puzzle Box collectible when solved. These puzzles require players to find hidden symbols, use character-specific gadgets, match mirror images, and more, and you'll need to use every playable character if you hope to solve them all.

Notably, you can reveal the locations of Riddler Puzzles by activating district towers. However, you may not see every Riddler Puzzle on the map as soon as you activate a tower, as some are inside Puzzle Rooms that aren't available until you've completed a certain number of puzzles or Puzzle Rooms.

If you're missing a Riddler Puzzle in a district and it's not shown on the map, work on puzzles in other districts until it appears.

Do Towers Reveal Riddler Puzzles?

Yes, district towers reveal Riddler Puzzle icons on the map, along with other collectible and activity icons. This makes Riddler Puzzles easier to find than hidden collectibles, like Bat-Symbols, but it is still up to you to solve them.

Do You Need Specific Characters for Riddler Puzzles?

Yes, many Riddler Puzzles require specific characters and gadgets. While some of the puzzles can be solved by any character, you'll ultimately need to use character-specific gadgets and tools like Robin’s staff, Nightwing’s Electric Cable Launcher, Batgirl’s Hackarang, Batman’s Batclaw, and Jim Gordon’s Foam Sprayer as you work through them.

How Riddler Puzzle Rooms Unlock

Some districts include Riddler Puzzle Rooms, which are often more challenging than the Riddler Puzzles found in the open world. These rooms usually focus on object placement, requiring you to place items in the positions shown by looking into a mirror. However, the final Riddler Puzzle Room combines that mechanic with several of the game's other puzzle mechanics.

One very important thing to know is that Riddler Puzzle Rooms unlock progressively as you complete earlier Riddler Puzzles and Puzzle Rooms. If a district’s Puzzle Room does not appear on your map yet, keep solving Riddler Puzzles across Gotham and return when it becomes available.

How to Unlock Riddler vs Cluemaster

Riddler vs Cluemaster is the final Puzzle Room in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. It is found in Old Gotham West, but it doesn't unlock until you have collected all 60 Cluemaster Puzzle Boxes and the other 60 Riddler Puzzle Boxes.

If you have collected 60 Riddler Puzzle Boxes and don't see Riddler vs Cluemaster in Old Gotham West, you haven't completed all the Cluemaster Puzzles yet.

Do Riddler Puzzles Count Toward 100% Completion?

Yes, Riddler Puzzles count toward 100% completion in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. You need to solve all 61 Riddler Puzzles across Gotham to complete open-world cleanup and earn the A Watchful Collector achievement.
