How Cluemaster Puzzles Work

Each Cluemaster Puzzle awards a Cluemaster Puzzle Box collectible when solved. These puzzles require players to match symbols, create codes by stopping tumblers, redirect power flowing through wires, and more, and you'll need to use every playable character if you hope to solve them all.

Notably, you can reveal the locations of Cluemaster Puzzles by activating district towers. However, you may not see every Cluemaster Puzzle on the map as soon as you activate a tower, as some are inside Puzzle Rooms that aren't available until you've completed a certain number of Cluemaster Puzzles or Puzzle Rooms. If you're missing a Cluemaster Puzzle in a district and it's not shown on the map, work on puzzles in other districts until it appears.

Do Towers Reveal Cluemaster Puzzles?

Yes, district towers reveal Cluemaster Puzzle icons on the map, along with other collectible and activity icons. This makes Cluemaster Puzzles easier to find than hidden collectibles, like Bat-Symbols, but it's still up to you to solve them.

For more on map-reveal towers, see our All Towers & How to Access Them guide.

Do You Need Specific Characters for Cluemaster Puzzles?

Yes, some Cluemaster Puzzles require specific characters and gadgets. While many of the puzzles can be solved by any character, you'll ultimately need to use character-specific gadgets and tools like Robin’s staff, Nightwing’s Electric Cable Launcher, Batgirl’s Hackarang, Batman’s Batclaw, and Jim Gordon’s foam sprayer as you work through them.

If you reach a Cluemaster Puzzle and can’t complete it, the issue may be that you don't have the necessary character unlocked yet, and you need to continue the story and return later. For unlock timing, see our How to Unlock All Playable Characters guide.

How Cluemaster Puzzle Rooms Unlock

Some districts include Cluemaster Puzzle Rooms, which are often more challenging than the Cluemaster Puzzles you find in the open world and also award Cluemaster Puzzle Boxes. Cluemaster Puzzle Rooms are tracked on the map as an overlapping Cluemaster Puzzle icon and Puzzle Room icon, and solving one increases both district trackers.

One very important thing to know is that Cluemaster Puzzle Rooms unlock progressively as you complete earlier Puzzle Rooms. This can lead to situations where you aren't seeing any more Cluemaster Puzzle icons in a district but still haven't reached the district's total number of Cluemaster Puzzles. This means you haven't yet unlocked the Cluemaster Puzzle Room in that district, and you'll need to return after working through puzzles in other parts of Gotham.

Do Cluemaster Puzzles Count Toward 100% Completion?

Yes, Cluemaster Puzzles count toward 100% completion in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. You need to solve all 60 Cluemaster Puzzles across Gotham to complete open-world cleanup and earn the A Watchful Collector achievement.
