Emily Christner shared thisThe future of public media won't be built by doing more of the same. It will be built through new partnerships, new voices, and new ways of engaging audiences. That's why we're excited to announce a new collaboration between New York Public Radio and URL Media. Together, we'll explore creator-led events and new revenue opportunities that strengthen our connection with communities while advancing our shared commitment to trusted journalism. This is exactly the kind of collaboration our industry needs. By bringing together mission-driven organizations, we can innovate, expand our reach, and build a more sustainable future for local media. https://lnkd.in/gTEeTjb2 #PublicMedia #LocalMedia #Journalism #AudienceEngagement #InnovationNEW YORK PUBLIC RADIO AND URL MEDIA COLLABORATE ON CREATOR-LED EVENTS AND REVENUE INITIATIVES - New York Public RadioNEW YORK PUBLIC RADIO AND URL MEDIA COLLABORATE ON CREATOR-LED EVENTS AND REVENUE INITIATIVES - New York Public Radio

Emily Christner shared thisThrilled to share that I’ve joined New York Public Radio as Chief Growth & Engagement Officer. NYPR is one of the most trusted media institutions in the country — home to WNYC, WQXR, Gothamist, and programming that reaches millions each week across New York, the U.S., and globally. In a crowded, credibility-challenged media landscape, that trust is a real advantage. My career has been built at the intersection of product, audience, and business strategy — from growing digital businesses at CBS and TV Guide to leading product transformation at Trusted Media Brands, where I oversaw platforms engaging 250 million consumers worldwide. What I’ve learned across all of it: audience trust only compounds if you give people more reasons to show up, across more places, over time. At NYPR, the focus is building a more integrated, multi-platform growth engine aligning product, marketing, distribution, data, and revenue to deepen engagement, expand reach, and support a more sustainable model. Grateful to Christy Tanner for the opportunity and leadership, and to Michael Kassan and the team at 3C Ventures for the past two years of partnership and building. Excited for what’s ahead! https://lnkd.in/eqXhC-dMNew York Public Radio Names New Executive Leaders - New York Public RadioNew York Public Radio Names New Executive Leaders - New York Public Radio

Emily Christner reposted thisEmily Christner reposted thisFor two decades, digital marketing has optimized for one metric above all others: the click. That assumption is beginning to break. AI systems are rapidly becoming the primary interface for evaluation. Increasingly, people are not browsing through search results or scrolling through feeds when making decisions. They are opening AI assistants and asking them to compare options, analyze trade-offs, and synthesize information before committing time, capital, or reputation. In other words, decision-making is moving upstream of traffic. By the time a prospective customer reaches a company’s website, much of the cognitive work (research, comparison, and framing) may already be complete. This shift has structural implications. If AI systems define the consideration set, they shape outcomes. Visibility will depend less on impressions and more on whether a brand is accurately represented when machines synthesize the field. At 3C Ventures, we see this transition as the end of the click economy and the beginning of AI-mediated decision environments. Our latest article examines what that means for enterprises, marketers, and product teams as agentic commerce and machine-guided evaluation become part of everyday decision-making. Read: The End of the Click Economy ... and follow 3C Ventures for more insights.

Emily Christner reposted thisEmily Christner reposted thisThis week, 3C Ventures gathered leaders across media, marketing, tech, and culture for our latest CONVENE Salon Dinner at Casa Tua in New York City. What makes CONVENE different is intention. It’s a carefully curated room designed for sincerity, perspective, and meaningful connection, the kind that’s hard to come by in the day-to-day pace of our industries. We were honored to welcome the indelible Arianna Huffington as our special guest in conversation with Michael Kassan. The theme of the evening was both timely and necessary: redefining high performance. Arianna challenged the room to reconsider a long-held belief - that burnout is the price of ambition. Instead, she reframed well-being not as just a personal imperative, but as a leadership responsibility and a business strategy. In a world defined by volatility, AI acceleration, and always-on expectations, she reminded us that judgment, creativity, and resilience are our true competitive advantages and they depend on how we manage the fundamentals: sleep, food, movement, stress management, and connection. The evening also included a surprise moment of levity from the wildly talented Matthew Friend, whose sharp impressions had the entire room in laughter. Thank you to Arianna for your wisdom and grace. Thank you to our guests for showing up with openness and candor. And thank you to Casa Tua for hosting us so beautifully #CONVENE #3CV #Leadership #Community #HighPerformance #WellBeing

Emily Christner shared thisA really meaningful moment for public media and public-interest journalism. And so well deserved. 👏Emily Christner shared thisAs a longtime fan of NYPR’s magnificent work, I’m proud and honored to share that I am joining this powerhouse organization as CEO and President. Beloved by millions, with local heart and global impact, the multiplatform programming produced by New York Public Radio’s team continuously sets new standards for public service excellence – in New York City and globally. I’m looking forward to getting to know the incredible people who have built this trusted, world-class media institution, which is: -Home to icons WNYC Radio, WQXR Radio and Gothamist, -Producer of pioneering shows and podcasts such as Radiolab, On the Media, The New Yorker Radio Hour, The Brian Lehrer Show and All of It with Allison Stewart -An all-around superstar center of excellence for journalism, music, arts and culture, and civic dialogue with too many awards and accolades to list here. The opportunities for trusted media organizations such as NYPR – mission-driven providers of public service, community connection and pure joy – are boundless. If you have ideas for how we can expand our impact, let’s connect! Thank you to: -NYPR’s board of trustees, to my family, friends and mentors for your support. -The wonderful people in non-profit, independent media who have demonstrated to me the powerful opportunities in this space. -All in my network who are current members and fellow fans (and if you’re not, download the app, turn that dial and/or think about your giving strategy because I’ll be calling!) -The teams and boards of Audacy, Inc., Reykjavík Global Forum and Oaklins DeSilva+Phillips with whom I’ve been proud to work so closely as a board director and senior advisor. -Our partners in Swerve TV (where I’ll continue as Chair) for making live women’s sports free and widely accessible, with viewership tripling since last summer’s launch. -My brilliant consulting clients at PBS, BBC, TelevisaUnivision, Outside, Altice USA and Connecticut Public. I have learned so much from all of you and am grateful to have had such incredible opportunities to continue to create new models in media and streaming after leaving CBS. Thanks to Benjamin Mullin from the The New York Times (link in comments) for spelling my name correctly and including from our conversation this quote, which sums up how I view our mission: "I have been the person looking skeptically at the leadership of these types of organizations. I understand why (NYPR's staff may be) skeptical, and I hope they remain skeptical of people in power and want to hold them to account.” John Rose Anna Quindlen Jenna Weiss-Berman Gary Knell Marc Chamlin https://lnkd.in/edPEKMVGNew York Public Radio Names Christy Tanner as President and CEO - New York Public RadioNew York Public Radio Names Christy Tanner as President and CEO - New York Public Radio

Emily Christner shared thisWhat a week it was! CES 2026 brought so many amazing conversations to the forefront. 3C Ventures showed up in a big way and brought clients and partners together in one of the few calming (but still buzzy) spaces in all of Las Vegas. But perhaps what is always best about CES is the serendipitous run ins with friends new and old. Can't wait for the next one...Emily Christner shared thisLast week was a reminder that progress happens when technology is guided by people, purpose, and partnership. That spirit was on full display throughout #CES2026. Here’s a look at how 3C Ventures left its mark at CES this year. Rooted in Austin since 2011, SKU is the original accelerator for emerging consumer brands - the same one behind Siete, EPIC Provisions, wildwonder, and DUDE Wipes. The last few of my nine years at Amazon were spent building and scaling the B2B Advertising business. My customers were a mix of shoppers, brands, and agencies, each at a different size and stage of maturity, and each needing something different: a simpler way to buy, brand growth on and off Amazon, a partnership to grow their advertiser portfolio. Meeting those evolving customer needs meant building the right team and ownership model, obsessing over the right input metrics, ruthlessly prioritizing the right experiences, and building the right tech. CPG founders juggle the same complexity: their own shoppers, manufacturers, and retail partners - combined with a growing team, P&L, and tech decisions. Different discipline, same muscle. Starting and scaling a business is a journey, even inside a company as big as Amazon. Excited to make the journey a little smoother for the founders in this fall's cohort while partnering with an impressive group of fellow mentors. Shout out to team WonderPop! Emily Christner reacted on thisEmily Christner reacted on thisAs summer comes to an end, I wanted to reflect on some of the amazing work we’ve been doing at New York Public Radio this past year. A big part of my role is collaboration, and I’ve loved working across production, social, design, editorial, and more to bring ideas to life! A few highlights: • Driving the transformation of our media partnership strategy across our brands to be more grassroots and experiential, with a focus on platforming our talent, showing up where New Yorkers are, and reaching younger, more diverse audiences. This included partnering with BRIC Arts & Media to bring WNYC Radio and Gothamist to LED screens at their summer festival, and having Janae Pierre, host of NYC Now, deliver the opening remarks at a Classical Theatre of Harlem's production of Othello. • Collaborating on a new social strategy and creative direction for All of It with Alison Stewart, shaping its video-first approach, talent participation, guest amplification, and visual identity, while working with production on new audio promos. • Launching content creator partnerships for the first time at NYPR, working across teams and leveraging partner channels to promote our live events, including Broadway on the Radio, Classical Music Happy Hour with Jon Batiste, and Radiolab’s live podcast at Tribeca Festival. • Driving audience growth through podcast pitching, paid social, and performance insights, including supporting the launch of WQXR Radio's Classical Music Happy Hour and securing editorial opportunities for shows including The Brian Lehrer Show’s “Ask The Mayor” with Zohran Mamdani. One of my favorite parts of this role has been working across teams and getting to experience more of NYC through our partners and shows, from Lauryn Hill in East Hampton with Murmrr and The Moth GrandSLAM to Shakespeare in the Park and events at The Greene Space at WNYC/WQXR, including seeing the Broadway stars of Ragtown perform live. Three years into calling NYC home, my love for this city only grows! I’m grateful my work has given me new ways to experience it.

Emily Christner reacted on thisThank you S. Mitra Kalita and URL Media for inviting me to participate in these discussions.Emily Christner reacted on thisA few days in Martha’s Vineyard for work may sound sacrilegious—but the experience was deeply spiritual. URL Media held two gatherings: a Black Beyond Borders dinner and a conversation with Martha's Vineyard Times and local orgs about what year-round Island communities want visitors and investors to understand. Khalil Gibran Muhammad pondered why exploitative ways pervade places with their own histories, traditions, and wisdom—from the Vineyard to South Africa. Priscilla Sims B. of Amalgamated Bank invoked an Ethiopian worldview in which children, nieces, nephews, and community children are all our lajoch, collective responsibility. And Meryanne Loum-Martin of Jnane Tamsna shared that bookings rose 60% after an Essence feature: Black travelers are intentional—and impactful. The next day, Juli Vanderhoop honored the Wampanoag people’s 12,000-year relationship with this land, looking beyond Oak Bluffs and Inkwell Beach, and understanding the Island’s deeper history. Nia Rhodes asked how corporate gatherings can avoid making a place of rest into one where Black people feel expected to work. I took Elaine Cawley Weintraub's African American history trail and came away with layers of history—and a deeper sense of what deliberate community-building looks like. Two mornings with the Inkwell Polar Bear Plunge, a joyful community ritual nearly 80 years strong, reinforced how that is not a contemporary accident. Generations of people created places to find one another, rejoice, make room at the table, and thrive. Yes, infrastructure. After dinner, the team surprised me for my 50th. “Happy Birthday” began, until the woman beside me said no no, redirecting till Stevie Wonder’s version filled the yard. One milestone gave way to another: Sara M. Lomax welcomed me to the cookout. As someone who leads a Black-centered company and is not Black, I do not take that for granted. I believe it is possible, and necessary, to build in service of Black communities without centering ourselves. That requires more than good intentions: sustained study; engagement with Black art, culture, and intellectual life; local partnership; resource-sharing; respect for context; and accountability back to communities at the heart of the work. After these months of DEI destruction, Martha’s Vineyard felt like balm and battle cry. We hear valid concerns about capital and crowds converging on the Vineyard. (Msg received, Tik Tok and Threads) We want to show up thoughtfully: supporting Black-owned businesses, partnering locally, and centering rest, care, and reciprocity alongside economic opportunity. And include the kids (love MV's intergenerationality). Thank you to our sponsors, the tireless URL team, partners like Jonathan Rabb and the many friends I ran into unexpectedly, the new ones I made (hi Sylvia Pérez Cash). The people we do business with ultimately define us. I welcome all thoughts—and potential partners—for next year.

Emily Christner liked thisEmily Christner liked thisIt's a special day today & not just because I turn the Big 5-5. Today we announce the launch of the Charity Action Network (CAN), a new nonprofit I have wanted to build, coincidentally, for the last 5.5 years. Our mission is to solve big problems globally by helping nonprofits, individuals, and companies give more easily and more Time and Treasure in three ways: - Our Consulting practice (available now helping great clients like DetecTogether) - Our Giving Exchange (available 1Q27) - Our Charity Co-Op (available 2Q27) The RFP to build the Giving Exchange will be sent to >40 Tech firms Aug. 20-21 with a goal to accelerate the donations of Money, Time, and Stuff (including Ad Inventory) the same way Ad Exchanges accelerated the sale of digital ads over the past 15 years. Leveraging many of the successes we've had at Prohaska Consulting helping 650+ clients with 500+ teammates over the past 12+ years, we at CAN will be showing how #Data & #Tech can be used for good. I am incredibly proud and grateful to be leading both organizations going forward. A huge thank you to our entire CAN team, especially the #Marketing & #Operations launch teams of Sara Au, Amy DeHaen, Cameron Barrett, Lindsay Jennings, & Felicia Hand. Thrilled to work with the full CAN team, now including Kerry Dunne, Missy Godfrey, Rich Goldfarb, Jeff Haley, Davis+Gilbert LLP, Bill Jennings, Adam Kinderman, Chris Kuleszynski, David Levin, Michael Ouellette, James Poff, Bob Prohaska, & Tracy Raiser. We are a New York-registered 501(c)(3) and there would be no better birthday gift than helping us help causes and charities important to you and your family. https://lnkd.in/dyKcrPYb Our launch event, open to everyone, will be in NYC Wednesday afternoon, September 9, with volunteering at a food bank, followed by our fundraising kickoff party (free for Volunteers). Details to join us at https://lnkd.in/gdqesXJf. More on CAN at https://lnkd.in/dgkPswMe & we can can't wait to start working with many of you more to solve big problems together. As we say, "Everyone needs help. Everyone CAN help."

Emily Christner liked thisEmily Christner liked thisThere's a week in October when our entire industry fits inside twenty blocks of Manhattan. I've looked forward to it for most of my career. For the past two years, I've looked at it a little differently. It's also the week we launched Unplugged Collective. Two years in: more than 30 events, more than 100 speakers, over 115 Cannesversations interviews, from New York to Miami to Las Vegas to Cannes. A network of more than 9,500 people and over 60 partners. But the numbers aren't the part I hold onto. It's what people tell me after. That they felt seen. That they walked in among strangers and walked out with people they now call friends. That's why I'm excited about this next one: The Contextual Clipper, the newspaper we hand out on the ground at our events, is now a weekly newsletter. The stories we're following, the events worth your calendar, and everything happening around our activations, including Unplugged State of Mind this October, delivered every week. First edition is out today. Subscribe here: https://lnkd.in/gtwTcJER ...and check out our full line up for Unplugged State of Mind in October! Advertising and subscriptions will remain the core revenue drivers for news publishers in 2026, per Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism. We're redoubling our efforts to support monetization for news publishers at DoubleVerify this year to ensure advertisers understand -- and can capitalize on -- the powerful brand-building opportunities news audiences present.

Walmart+ is celebrating its fifth anniversary with a bold move 📺 Starting September 15, members can switch between ad-supported plans of NBCUniversal Peacock Premium (a net-new streaming partnership) and Paramount+ Essential, every 90 days at no extra cost. This new streaming perk is more than just entertainment. It’s a strategic play to deepen consumer while unlocking richer insights for brands. Curious how this shift impacts Walmart’s retail media ecosystem and what it means for brands? Watch the full video with Flywheel's Bernie Che below ⏬ #Walmart #STV #StreamingTV #retailmedia

Love this - AI is the Oppenheimer moment for marketing. It fundamentally collapses the time and cost of production. A $2.5 million campaign that used to take four months can now be delivered for $500,000 in four weeks. Legacy firms that charge based on hours with the 'time-driven' model are existentially threatened by this.

This insightful prediction from Jennifer Brandel for Neiman Lab is worth a read for every newsroom leader working with AI: "AI companies cannot afford degraded inputs at the exact moment their valuations hinge on delivering stable, trustworthy outputs. And with the tech industry already jittery about an AI bubble, and investors being uneasy about long-term revenue models, regulators circling and consumers getting burned by hallucinations — this seems somewhat inevitable. We’re already seeing the early moves of vertical integration — the tech-industry equivalent of buying the farm when the food supply gets unstable: OpenAI is funding and expanding Axios Local into new markets. Google is bankrolling California local news efforts and offering AI training to newsrooms. Microsoft partnered with Semafor to build “Signals,” a wire-service alternative combining human reporting and AI summarization. AI companies are striking major licensing deals with AP, Axel Springer, FT, and News Corp. These aren’t random. They are supply-chain decisions." Read it: https://lnkd.in/ezih8Yku
