Newell Thompson posted this"Put the Coffee Down".... SALES. Nothing has changed except everything. I've just come back from several trips to meet with prospective and current clients and wanted to share some thoughts: > AI is creating more slop, junk emails, suspect writing styles easily identified as generic- Click on 🗑️. The noise is overwhelming to buyers and sellers alike. > Email Campaigns need to be personalized and direct. Yes, it takes time to make a valuable business relationship. Email 1st impression says a lot about how much you care. Don't waste your client's time... not to mention yours. > Everything is a commodity Except Humans. Except Creativity and Ideas. Except Relationships. Except your trust and promise. EQ matters more than ever. > The difference between success and failure is razor thin. Everything matters. YOU are your own brand. What are your traits? How will you be remembered? Clients don't necessarily buy the goods and services...they buy the relationship. They buy YOU. > Showing up matters more than ever. Attend industry events, prioritize face-to-face meetings, host small peer-to-peer events, lunches, dinners, etc... People buy from people they like & trust. > Be Prepared. Ask good questions, do your homework (where AI is a very powerful tool), and even more thoughtful follow-up (Where AI is not a very good tool) > Face-to-Face is faster than Email. What might take 20 back and forth emails over 3 weeks to get needed momentum on an account might take one business meeting face-to-face. > When the world is zigging...zagging can be the difference. Direct Mail. Hand Written Letters. Unique client engagement. Thought Leadership. Create ways to break through the commoditized jargon of selling. Happy Weekend. Newell PS. Newell Thompson reposted thisNewell Thompson reposted thisOne question that kept costing us deals: "Can you reach this audience?" A client wanted a specific audience. Right revenue band, right job titles, right industry. Sounds simple. Answering it meant looping in sales, ops, and delivery to check feasibility, validate audience counts, and confirm we could commit. By the time we had an answer, hours had passed. And (more than once) the client had already moved on. We were losing business over speed, not quality. At some point I thought: we've got the AI, we've got the data. Why does this still take days? So... we built TechInformed's TiForecast. It runs on 3 years of our own campaign data, backed by 18 years of experience in the space: - 25,000 campaigns across 21 countries - 131 million B2B decision-makers reached - Thousands of leads delivered every month Put in your lead goals, target market, and deal size. Get a realistic forecast in under 15 seconds. We made it free. No demo, no sign-up. 181 people tried it in the first 10 days. Five feature requests came in before we'd even started promoting it. We didn't build this to launch a product. We built it because we were tired of guessing, and so were our clients. If it helps one marketer plan better, that's the whole point :) (Link in the comments)

Newell Thompson shared thisIs Madelaine Oppert becoming her own brand in BTB marketing? I say...YES and think her podcast should be named "MadMarketing with Maddy" let me know if you agree!! And, if you'd like to be a featured guest, LMK and I'll see what i can do :-).Newell Thompson shared thisEveryone's talking about showing up in AI. Much fewer people are talking about how to measure whether it's actually working. A year ago, there were almost no tools to understand AI visibility. Today, platforms like Semrush, Profound, Scrunch AI, alongside Google Search Console - are giving marketers entirely new signals. The problem? We still don't have a shared definition of success. That's the conversation we should be having. 👇 I'm curious... If your CEO asked tomorrow, "Is our AI visibility improving?" What would you actually show them? Elena Simkina from Acronis explains why AI measurement is still one of marketing's biggest unanswered questions. Learn how leading B2B marketing teams are adapting their measurement strategies as AI changes the buyer journey: https://lnkd.in/d3hrFFUh #DemandGeneration #B2BMarketing #MarketingMeasurement #AIMarketing #RevenueMarketing Madelaine Oppert

Newell Thompson shared thisComing home from a week with the team India and reflecting on the importance of being present, connected, and human. >> The iResearch team is driven by success, shared values, and decency. In fact, all companies need to have a foundation built on Mission, Vision, & Values. Above all else. >> Relationships matter. Externally with clients, yes. And, more importantly with internal team members who greatly appreciate a connection to the sales and marketing team overseas. Together we win and lose. >> Showing Up Matters. Decisions get made. Learning is accelerated. Challenges understood. Without the human connection, we lose so much...remote video conferencing is a great tool but misses the nuances and emotional narrative of a face-to-face meeting. >> Culture is at the center of everything we do. Our team is hungry, scrappy, smart, and disciplined. I am most thankful for my time with the iResearch and TechInformed team in India. There is nothing we can't accomplish...as a team. Thanks Yogesh Shah, Ashok Iyer, Uddhav Daware, Siddharth S., Shilpa Tapiloo, Nancy Sethi, Soniya Rohra, Farid M., Mohit Shinde, David Sablé, Uma Rajak, Shivani Bakshi, Kamaljit Kaur Gatore, Niraj Shirgaokar, Rahul Johar, Uzair Siddiqui, and everyone who made my time with you all so valuable. Namaste.

Newell Thompson shared thisFor all of you who attended Thought Leadership for Tomorrow" in the past few years and those of you who are thought leadership practitioners and stakeholders, please take this quick survey to help us shape the narrative for #TLFT27.Newell Thompson shared thisCalling all thought leadership professionals! Marketers, editors, writers, subject-matter experts, researchers, sponsors, project managers—lend me your eyes! We've surveyed 1,000 of you each of the past two years, and the findings have given us more to talk about than we've had room for in our flagship reports. So we're turning them into webinar programming, and we want you to tell us where to dig. https://lnkd.in/gznRNAkP Depending on what you pick, we could get into: → Why AI shows up everywhere in ideation (57%) and almost nowhere in distribution (22%)—and why satisfaction drops at every step in between. → Why distribution is the thing teams say they're worst at, and the thing they plan for last. → Why 80% of podcasters now publish video. (The radio star is fine. She just has a face for video now.) → What actually separates a strategic research program from a sporadic one. The survey takes less than 30 seconds—and it'll shape hours of programming we build this fall on the research and everything we've learned making it.

Newell Thompson shared thisDemand Gen Community - Please join us on Friday for our Monthly Webinar. Quality Conversations. Quality Community. Valuable Insights.Newell Thompson shared thisForrester says fewer than 1% of B2B leads close. So what exactly are we optimizing for? More MQLs? More form fills? More “engagement”? Because if pipeline is still not moving, the problem may not be lead volume. It may be: – Weak qualification – Bad handoff between marketing and sales – Trusting the wrong intent signals too early – Optimizing for activity instead of revenue That is exactly what Amelia Taylor, Founder at The Revenue Table, and Madelaine Oppert, SVP Global Marketing at TechInformed, are unpacking in this upcoming 22-minute executive discussion. A 22 minute conversation for leaders in: #DemandGen #RevenueMarketing #Sales #GTM

Newell Thompson liked thisNewell Thompson liked thisA lot of brands find out too late that they hired a content agency, not a thought leadership agency. Before you get involved with one: 👉 Ask where the ideas come from. If it's opinion dressed up as insight, be cautious. Look for real data behind it: surveys, social listening, whitespace analysis. Data is harder to argue with than a hot take. 👉 Check if they can tell a story, not just report findings. Research on its own rarely changes minds. Ask to see examples of how they've turned data into something people want to read. 👉 Find out how many hands the work passes through. Strategy, research, content, and distribution split across different vendors usually means something gets lost along the way. One team owning the whole process tends to produce sharper work. 👉 Ask who's actually going to see it. Reach is the hardest part of thought leadership. A polished report nobody reads isn't worth much. Find out exactly who they'll put it in front of. 👉 Look at what they do for themselves. If an agency is telling you to invest in original research and consistent thought leadership, check whether they're doing it too. That's usually the clearest sign of whether they believe what they're selling. That's the standard we hold ourselves to at iResearch Services. CEOs have been boasting more than lately about early-hour rising. (The new record: 3:00 am!) It’s’’s great to have an enthused CEO but how is the messaging be translated by the newer generations of workers?

Newell Thompson liked thisNewell Thompson liked this"B2B's Breakout Moment" is the theme for IAA Global's B2B Brand Summit this year. It feels right. The B2B playbook is changing. Buying journeys are harder to predict. Buyers are more informed and more skeptical. And AI is making it easier than ever to produce more content, while making it harder to know what deserves our attention and trust. At the same time, B2B is becoming more creative, more culturally relevant, and frankly, more interesting. That's what makes this feel like a breakout moment to me. We're not just getting better at the old game. We're figuring out what the next one looks like. I'm looking forward to exploring that conversation at the IAA Global B2B Brand Summit in NYC on October 14. If you're thinking about where B2B goes from here, come be part of it.
