0.30 refers to twin versions of Java Edition Classic released on November 10, 2009, with the Creative variant at 18:20 UTC[1] and Survival variant at 18:49 UTC.[2] They were uploaded to different pages on Minecraft.net. They were announced on The Word of Notch at 19:05 UTC,[3][4][5] by which time they had already been reuploaded. The only difference between these two versions is that one version is in Creative mode, while the other is in Survival mode.[note 1] The Creative version was the one featured for free on the Minecraft website until its removal around September 2015. Server versions 1.10 and 1.10.1 were released for 0.30 on December 11, 2009. 0.30 is the final version of Classic development to be released. 0.30 is the final version of Late Classic, and the Survival variant of 0.30 is the final version of Survival Test.
The Survival variant was reuploaded at 18:58 UTC and the Creative at 19:00 UTC.[more information needed]
Variants
[edit | edit source]0.30 comes in both Survival-only and Creative-only modes. In total, there are five clients of 0.30: the Survival mode version and its reupload as well as the Creative version, its reupload, and its signature-renewed build.
In-game, all variants of this version are titled 0.30. In Searge's archive,[6] "0.30" is reserved for the (reuploaded) Survival variant, while the name "0.30_01" is given to the Creative variants. Searge's archive includes three variants of "0.30_01": 0.30_01a, a texture mod for 0.30 made in January 2011 that was included in Mojang's archives presumably by mistake; 0.30_01b, which refers to the (reuploaded) 2009 Creative variant; and 0.30_01c, which refers to the 2011 renewal of the Creative variant. The pre-reuploads are not present.
The renewed Creative variant, 0.30_01c, is present in the launcher, with this same name. This is the second reupload of the Creative variant, made in July 2011 to renew the signature files of the .jar, which were near their expiry. Had the signatures expired, the version could not have continued to be playable in the browser. Gameplay of this renewed variant is identical to the (reuploaded) original 2009 build.

Changes
[edit | edit source]Blocks
[edit | edit source]- Attempting to place grass blocks by means of hacking one's inventory in multiplayer now causes the server to automatically kick the player.
- Hitting a primed TNT (in Survival) defuses it and lets it be picked up.
- Explosions no longer produce smoke particles.
Mobs
[edit | edit source]- Now can be spawned legitimately in Survival, as previous versions required modifying the game to be in Survival to allow them to spawn.
General
[edit | edit source]Loading and saving
- Drastically improved world generation time.
- Previously, generating a new world could take up to 2 minutes. From 0.30 onward, generating a new world only takes a few seconds.
- Added local file saving.
- Online saving is no longer available for free accounts.
- A "Premium only!" message is displayed if a player tries to save a world online with a free account.
Fixes
[edit | edit source]5 bugs fixed
- Blocks now drop themselves again.
- Fixed the sheep hitbox so it no longer has areas the player can hit through.
- In Survival mode, mobs other than sheep can now spawn naturally.
- TNT no longer disappears upon being hit in Survival.
- Multiplayer lag decreased.
